Thanks, Bucklebunny! That's what I'm hoping for. I am definitely not investing in designer jeans right now! I am a bargain shopper when it comes to clothes, especially pants and bras. They just don't last long for me!

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Don't forget our friends at Big W:
Apparently they sell jeans at a regular price of $9. http://aca.ninemsn.com.au/retail/842...od-are-9-jeans or KMart jeans at $8! http://shop.kmart.com.au/product/skinny-jeans/112155 There is a Big W at Eastland, not far from me, but I have only ever been in the store the once and that was to buy a Red Hat for when I went to a Red Hat Dinner! Big W may be worth checking out, at $9 you only have to get one month's wear out of them to justify the price, and new clothes are just so much nicer - and better for morale - than always 'making do' with clothes which simply don't fit. Cheers Kristine

Yes, Kristine!!
I'm liking those kind of prices. The good news for me is, I'm a teacher, and I only have 2 weeks of school left before summer break, so I have decided to not invest in any new clothes for now. I will borrow, rummage, and take in what I can for the summer, then before school starts in the fall, watch out, I'm going shopping!! H5-0 |

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Morning fellow Touniquettes!
Today's Weight 73.70 kilos Lost since last Monday 1.70 kilos Commenced .. Monday 23/04/2012 75.80 kilos Size 16 very tight Start Week 2 Monday 30/04/2012 75.40 kilos 0.40 loss size 16 not quite as tight Start Week 3 Monday 07/05/2012 73.70 kilos 2.10 loss size 16 comfortable Size 16 FJ full waisted Jeans are now a comfortable fit Bought a Hollywood Hip Hugger over at Priceline yesterday http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13867 A nifty gadget which takes in the slack across the back of pants / jeans / trousers without wearing a belt, so no buckle bulge under the front of tops As this thread is about the fit of our pants, and as not all pants have elastic waists, the Hip Hugger may be on some interest Last year, prior to going to see the Rellies in UK, I inserted elastic into the back of the waistband of my 'dress up' (Miller) pants, complete with buttons at the end of the elastic strip. To do this I unpicked the inside of the side seams of the waistband, threaded strong elastic through the band, stitched one side securely to the side seam of the pants and sewed two buttons on the elastic & one buttonhole at the other side seam That way, when the pants were loose I could have 1 x button, when the pants were not quite as loose I could use the other button, and when the pants fitted (Meaning: Once I had put on about 6 kilos!) I could just wear the pants without engaging any elastic! Those pants don't have any belt loops, they are really quite formal and surprisingly well cut, and I didn't want to be wearing braces with them, so stitching the elastic inside the waistband provided a neat solution The Hip Huggers I have already clipped to my size 14 Millers stretch jeans and this is great, I don't have to hitch them up at every second step Happy Monday, keep those results coming in, I am sure we will lose more than 17 kilos between us this week Cheers Kristine

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Hi Michmac thanks for the update
Hey zq1104511 Please post, we want to hear from you - warts and all! The Forum is non-judgemental and the Challenge is there to give us that little extra inspiration I'm busy thinking up my next challenge - and hopefully if the Tourniquet Challenge keeps me inspired then I will be at or about 'goal' by the end of the 8 weeks MaggieLyn gained 0.50 kilos in the first week, but then lost 3.20 kg in the second week So please don't be discouraged. Even if we lose the plot at times, we are only beaten if we stop trying In fact, the whole concept of 'trying' is a bit of a victim statement Yoda said 'Do or do not. There is no try' And for those of us planning on a New You, we have to switch our mind over to a One Track Mind. We can not 'be in two minds' about it We are in ONE MIND: Those darn Tourniquet Tight Trousers are blooming well GOING TO FIT by the end of the Challenge, and in fact more than that, THEY ARE GOING TO BE SO LOOSE THEY ARE GOING TO BE HANGING OFF ME! Take your frustration out on your trousers, not on your self Focus on the waist band, not on your waist So don't waste time (oh, dear!) Get out there. Back on plan. Back on track. You can do it. We can do it. And we will! 'Do or do not. There is no try' Cheers Kristine |

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
A Quick Note:
Don't forget to keep trying on the 'next size down' pants, trousers and skirts in your wardrobe We need to remind ourselves that we are both losing weight, and also shrinking. In November, 2010 I bought a quality pair of David Lawrence corduroy 5 pocket jeans style pants (size 12) to wear in the cold climate of Norfolk at Christmas. These were a bit on the loose side but that's OK - got to tuck the thermal underwear - and the Christmas Dinner - in somewhere. These pants were still comfortable when we returned in the New Year. At the start of the Tourniquet Challenge I could not get the waistband / button and button hole to meet across my somewhat enlarged and rather pudgy tummy. Today, I got the button done up. Yes, a bit tight, yes, not actually comfortable, but done up. So since starting the Challenge, the Fletcher Jones size 16 jeans have gone from Tourniquet to wearable, and the corduroy from you-must-be-joking to the do-up-able-even-if-Tourniquet-Tight fit. So, ladies and gents, at least once a week try on something smaller than what you are currently wearing That also includes a tee shirt, shirt or blouse. That bulging and distended midriff may be shrinking quicker than you think, so why not try on the next size down and see how you go I have read many times on this Forum how someone has kept a special dress or pair of trousers or jeans for the day 'when they can fit back into them'. But when we are losing weight we don't realise how fleeting that day may be For example, if I had saved a special size 14 skirt, that skirt would by now be too big for me. My window of opportunity to wear that skirt again would be limited to about one month on Cohen's, that month between me wearing size 16 and size 12! This Challenge is about what fits you. This Monday, how about we all share the 'special' garment we have been keeping and which we now fit in to sundaymorningstaple kept his Wedding Tuxedo from 1983 and is seen proudly wearing it again in 2008 after hitting a weight peak of 94 kilos and dropping back to his goal weight of 69 kilos http://www.newyouforum.com/forum/album.php?albumid=118 So if you haven't thrown out the Tuxedo or Twin Set or pair of size 12 corduroys, try them on and let us know on Monday if you fit them yet! Cheers Kristine |
