Default Not a big loss.......sigh

I weighed this morning and only lost 1kg ! I know I shouldn't expect too much but I really thought I would have lost more than that. I think I am retaining a lot of water this morning, I am a bit puffy and feel bloated and yucky. I'm hoping that has something to do with it. I may have to sneak a peek at the scales tomorrow just to see.

I probably sound ungrateful, any loss is great and 3.8kg in 2 weeks is a great loss so I need to focus on that. When I start the program for real hopefully that will speed things up a bit.

Hi suzie, Im sorry the weight loss isnt going as quickly as you would like. I guess everyone is different and you have still odne very well!
Are you weighing your food? I noticed when I started my program the quantities were smaller than those I had been guessing for myself. I think the suggestion is about 110gms of protein and veges. Once you get your program this will vary but that is what was given as a guide in the precohen. I hope you are able to join up soom and get your personalised plan, Hang in there your doing well!

Hi Suzie,
I hope you aren't beating yourself up - I think you are doing very well !!!
Quote:
One good sign is I fit into my size 14 jeans! Honestly 2 weeks ago I could barely get them on,
An important point here, Suzie, is that it is cms lost that makes this happen - yep, they are aligned to Kg, but NOT joined at the hip. So, if you've only lost 1Kg, you still may have lost a heap of cms !!!

Quote:
I've had a pretty stressful couple of days, won't go into details but let's just say home has not been a very happy place of late.
That stress would NOT have helped in your weight-loss, Suzie. Anything you can do to stay "light and happy" will help. Anyway, as you said, this may only be retained fluid, and you might have another good loss tomorrow - but, if you don't, don't give up - it IS working for you, and you ARE doing well !!!

I hope you get your real plan soon,

Koh

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone, I appreciate it. I am getting my blood test done tomorrow and signing up for the program on Tuesday so I am excited about that - finally!

I have been going by the pre cohen weight rough guide lines of 105g protein and 120g (I think) of veg. Either I am retaining water or have gone wrong somewhere, will find out when I get my program I guess.

I haven't measured yet, I think I'll do that tonight so stay tuned maybe I had a good cm loss.

Cya

I'm editing now......just measured and am happy to say that I lost 12cm from all over since last Sunday - am happy about that! I measured by neck, arm, bust, waist, bum, hips, thigh. It is good to see something did happen!

I don't think that actual grams is all that important pre-Cohen's Suzie. Just keep the portions small. Until you get your own programme, exact grams really don't mean very much.

It's quite possible that you weighed on a day when you had retained fluid. I think it's a good idea to check again tomorrow. Also, it's common for the weight not to fall when cms are falling away. You're going well.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

you really need to wait until you get your own plan and then start on that - the weights etc that you are using were only an example - never to be used as an exact meal plan so they may actually be doing you more harm then good !!!!

So until you get your plan which is specific and unique to you and your blood test - just eat sensible portions un-weighed.

You really should not worry to much about losing any weight at this stage ......... you may in fact be upsetting your metabolism and it may effect your weight loose when you do start the plan proper.

It will come to you soon enough ... don't get yourself in a pickle before you have even started .... the eating bit and weighing is not what its all about ... you have a whole lifestyle to change and it will be better explained in your plan which will be individualized for YOU and you only when you get it ....... its also about having a good mental attitude with a positive outlook that will get you over the line ....so hold up and enjoy life for now...... and when your time is right ...and you have your plan in hand - hit your plan big time !!! .... and win ... big time.

Yes, I'm with Andy on that one.. I'm not 100% certain, but I'd be checking how much weighing your food is going to affect your blood profile.. in the past people have used other people's plans, their weights, when they shouldn't have been & have had to go off them for a period of time before they had their blood tests done .. as I said I'm not 100% certain on that one so I would check with the clinic.. I would find out for you today if I could, but they aren't open till tomorrow.

I'm ticked off coz I just posted a big response and lost it....here we go again...

Thank you AJ, Andy and Faithy for your advice I appreciate it. Andy and Faithy I respect your advice and know that you know what you are talking about.

I really haven't been strict with the food weights, what I did on my first day was weighed some chicken and veg and from then just went by looking at the portions ie palm sized protein and 2 cups veg. An example of what I eat is:

Brekky: small bowl low fat natural yoghurt, black coffee w/sweetener or an egg w/veg
Lunch: tuna salad or pita bread w/ricotta and salad
Dinner: chicken or fish with 2 cups vegies
3 litres water and 2 low cal softies
Depending how hungry I am I'll have the 4-5 vitawheats and 2 fruit.

I am the type of person who is all or nothing and I thought just because I couldn't start my program straight away I would stick to the pre cohens guidelines on the forum best I could to keep my motivation up. Turns out maybe that wasn't the best idea . Maybe that post shouldn't be on the forum if it isn't a good idea to follow that before getting blood work done? Just a thought.

Well I'm at a bit of a loss now wondering what to eat. I don't want to eat carbs now as I feel better not having them and I'm happy with the portions I've been having. Good thing I'm joining up tomorrow and haven't had my blood work done yet. They'll sort me out.

Thanks again for the advice guys, I do appreciate it. Andy, don't be offended but I feel like I just got into trouble from my dad . You are like the wise dad of the forum, that is a good thing .

That's ok mate and yes I have doctored that thread a littel since reading your original post an hopefully it still helps some but does not send the wrong message - let me know what you think !!! ...and someone has to you young ones - on here especially - or the wild crew run riot ........ No not really..... but I just believe in saying it as it is ...we are all in the same boat and any word ...... positive ..... is a help. So long as we are looking out for each other it can only help ...hard as it is to swallow but it also keeps the old mind ticking over ...and keeps you heading the way you need to go!!!

Have a good one and what you have done will hold you in good stead for the program plan proper when you start it ... and I will be cheering you on as well.

Andy

Good that you are joining up, Suzie, and will soon have your own programme. I think Faithy is right, I've also seen something along those lines in relation to people using plans that were intended for someone else. Check with your clinic to be sure. If what you have done has affected your blood readings you will not get the right programme for your body. I think that pre-Cohen's may be intended for people between the blood test and receiving their programme, rather than filling in with it before signing up. However, your clinic will know for sure.

Default It's a done deal....

I joined up today!!! Can't wait to get my plan in a week or so.

After the advice of Andy and Faithy I decided last night to loosen up a bit on the pre cohens diet before I had my blood test today - so they will hopefully get a result that more reflects what I normally eat. So I had a little pasta...so naughty .

Sooo, in a week or so I should be starting my program for real and will give it my absolute best effort - no deviations for me come hell or high water!

Thanks for the advice and support guys, good to know help is at hand when we need it.

Suzie

Default Andy...

Hi Andy,

I read your post about the pre cohens and it was good. One thing perhaps worth adding would be that it is not recommended to start changing your diet until AFTER you have the blood test as it may change the results. What do you think?

I just think that it could still be misunderstood (or maybe I'm just to blonde ), I went to the info session 2 weeks ago but couldn't afford to start back then, that night I found this forum. I was so keen that I then started doing pre cohens, so I just think maybe you could add that little bit to make it clear for everyone.

Cheers

Suzie

Thanks mate - will have a look at it and its so good to see you are about to start - you wont regret and in no time you will have your money back ......... in so many ways !!

Take it steady as you have helped yourself in a big way so far but enjoy the little bit of time now before you knuckle down and do the program proper ...... its a great plan that is coming your way !!!

Suzie, have you talked with your clinic about what you've done? I don't think that one small serve of pasta will put your blood back to where it was before you started, if that's important. I don't know if it is, but I do think you need to talk with your clinic and clarify it with them. You don't want to be doing a programme that actually isn't suitable for you.

After posting the paragraph above I was reading Sheree's diary. You might like to read what she has to say here: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showpos...&postcount=103

Default Thanks AJ

I did tell the consultant that I had cut out carbs in the last couple of weeks and she just asked me if I felt better having done that and I said yes. She didn't say anything about the blood test.

I read Sheree's post and guess what? I thought we could have sweet potatoe anyway so I've been doing that, also on a few occassions I have had 2 eggs - as I said in my earlier post I didn't know exactly what I could and couldn't eat so I obviously wasn't doing it properly anyway .

I feel better after reading Sheree's post now. Thanks AJ.

Hi suzie
Congratulations on finally signing up. I look forward to seeing your progress. dont know about that eating thing before the program - I did precohens for a couple of weeks before I had my blood test. I hope that that is ok.

Default Hi Louise...

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who's done it!! I've been feeling really silly the last few days . You're losses have been great so I won't worry too much then, just hanging to get my plan and get on with it.

I want this extra weight GONE like yesterday. My hubby emailed some pics to his family yesterday and I've just been looking at them - makes me feel like crying I look so awful with my moon face and the rest - it's just humiliating. And would you believe he sent the worst one ever of me camping - no make up, dirty, daggy clothes and pulling a funny face........yeah just what you want family from USA to see when you haven't seen them for 5 years! I promised I would get my revenge on him for doing that to me .

Thanks for stopping in Louise, and I'm glad you are doing so well - there's hope for me yet!

Suzie

Hi suzie
I hate it when others get their hands on unflattering pics of me! the nice thing about digital cameras is the delete button. Just think, before long you can send those same people some great/ flattering pics of yourself! Keep up the good work!
