Hi Rosemary
I do hope you can relax into the day, and be proud that your daughter is seeking her independence. Keep strong, and you are allowed to be emotional about the bird leaving the nest! You are just NOT allowed to deviate

I left home at 17 1/2 and I thought I was an adult, and I turned out alright. But I certainly didn't appreciate at the time how hard it was for my parents - and I moved 100km away. BUT, I think they wish my younger brothers would move - one is 28 and one is 23 and they are BOTH still at home!!! So, be careful what you wish for Rosemary!!!

Be strong, so NO to the alcohol tonight. And treat yourself today to something that has nothing to do with food - a lovely drive to an inspiring view, a gentle walk on a favourite path... taking some photos of flowers... anything that gives you pleasure that isn't food. It amazes me sometimes how overwhelmingly I use food as the thing that gives me pleasure, so I can struggle to know how to treat myself! But I know you can do it...

Oh, and CONGRATS on the weight losses - AWESOME
Fi

Hope you survived all the emotions without comfort eating.....I don't know how we got into such bad habits...some people when they are stressed can't eat......why can't we be like them LOL!!!!!!

1.5kg loss for the week thats fabulous good for you!!!! DF is the way to go....I am very much back on the wagon....I am so determined, Feb is my month.

hugsss Rosemary!

I know how difficult that can be...my daughter moved out of home last September aged 17 as well. She is living not far away, and so we still see her quite often.

I actually think our relationship has improved now we are not under each others noses so much.

So take heart, its not all so bad. Its difficult to let them go, especially when we can see they are not really ready emotionally....but what can you do? They have to be able to go out and experience life for themselves, and we just have to trust that we did the best we could in preparing them for a productive adult life.

Congrats on the great results so far too!! You did well on your lunch date too! Doesn't feel good to know you can socialise and still stay on plan?

Have a great week!

Default Still totally DF !

Hi everyone, I did get through the emotions and the BBQ without deviating. So I am proud of that. Some talks with friends and family helped me ge through it. And all your comments help as well.

Sam & Fiona - it is good to hear comments like that from other young girls who left home at the same age.

Jenny - I can remember crying when you left town as well, so I am a softie when it comes to leaving home. But you know how strong willed she is.

De - Everything you have said has been going through my mind. It is just so hard to think they can do it on their own at such a young age. BUT the best thing is that she is nearby and I do agree that our relationship will probably be better.

I am home again today and I am planning on some cooking and preparation for the weeks food - although once hubby goes Tuesday I will be home alone and only me to cook for. So that is something to look forward to.

Thanks to everyone for visiting - I appreciate all the support.
Rosemary

Hi Rosemary
I am glad the day's emotional ordeal is over... Now it is just getting used to her not being there all the time.

Thinking of you...

Default Thanks heaps

Thanks to Fiona, Sam & Daffodil. I love reading the responses to my diary. Sam - I might even get a new bag as well...LOL

Tonight is my first night alone as my hubby went back to work one day earlier due to all the rain. He works inland from Mackay and he was worried that the roads would be blocked. So, I came home and tidied up with the comfort that if it gets messy it is my own fault (or the prodigal daughter has returned and left a mess) (that would only happen ONCE) LOL. Then I cooked and froze meals and snacks, I made the apple tea cake for my evening meal and they were so yummy I made a double batch and froze them. Then I stewed a couple of apples and froze them, so I find it easier in the coming week or I might just fill the freezer for when hubby and son are home and I will only have to cook for them and zap mine. If I keep cooking my freezer will be overloaded....

I struggled a little today - don't know why it was different to the other days but maybe cos I had less sleep last night. I got to bed a little late and then up earlier than usual. And I had to really force myself to drink the water but I did it - I think that was cos it was constantly raining all day. I wish I could send some rain South to all you guys in the hot states.

My weigh in day is Thursday so I will keep DF and hope to see the scales move in a big way.

Cheers Rosemary

Rosemary you will certainly have no shortage of water today, I was supposed to work in Ayr today, but no hope with this rain. I try to drink a lot of my water early in the day to take the pressure off for the rest of the day. I find when I do that I actually usually end up going over my quota, which I figure is a good thing. I hope you havent grown webbed feet yet, Im watching the ducks swim around out the back of my house!

Hi Rosemary
The lack of sleep thing is a pain given you are starting your alone time.
Don't know if this helps but maybe you can give yourself a list of all the great things you can do when you have the house to yourself and then do them! Like not having to fight for the remote control and seeing whatever you want on TV. Being able to leave the toilet door open and walk around in your undies! Being able to read a book in peace, or talk on the phone for hours, Take a long bath - play your own cd's or DVD's - oh the list is endless. Maybe it will help you with missing your hubby and keep your mind off the old temptations
Good luck and stay strong
Shazza

Hi Rosemary!

What is this 'apple tea cake' you speak of? Sounds delightful! Is the recipe in the book or the forum?

Hows the alone time going?
Hope you've had a great day!

Default Day 21 - almost over

Hi, Today is day 21 for me and I weigh in tomorrow. Again I have peeked on some days and I am losing most days, but some I stay the same. I should just weigh weekly but as we all seem to find it is too hard not to. We have had buckets of rain here and I didn't go to work yesterday and only did a half day today. It is possible that the Bruce Hiway may go over the road at Plantation Creek tomorrow so that will prevent me from going to lunch with my closest three friends. I have been working up to having lunch with them as we meet every fortnight and I just wasn't ready and NOW I may have no choice. I will see what tomorrow brings. Some of my friends & family say they can see that I have lost weight and I just think they are trying to be nice but then I know that my clothes are fitting much better and I have worn a few T shirts that were way too clingy before. So that feeling is awesome.. As we all know. ! I have still remained DF - I will have to get onto the challenge so I can have some dancing mangoes..

Louise - Do you come to Ayr regularly ? I work in Ayr and maybe we could meet for lunch if your work commitments allow. We could swap mobile numbers and catch up. It would be great to talk to someone who has come as far as you on Cohens.

Shazza - Thanks for all your words of encouragement. I probably do all those things already (when I am alone), and yes they are great. My hubbys work roster is really great, cos just as I really miss him he is due to come home and then when I want things to myself again he is just about to go back to work. So it is not too bad, just compounded by my daughter leaving. But I am keeping emotionals and temptations under control.

Sam - The tea cake recipe was on the forum but I can't remember where so apologies to the original contributor, here it is.
Stew one granny smith apple with cinnamon and cloves and enough Sprite zero to cover the apple. Puree this when cooked and add two crushed crispbreads (I used 4 little Salada Squares), and 1 egg. Mix together and spoon into mini muffin pans (silicon ones are best) and bake for about 15 minutes at 180 - 200 degrees C.
I swap my meals around so I will take these to work for meal 1 in the midday time and zap them in the microwave or eat cold. This qty makes three and I feel like I am deviating, when I am not. I have spent many hours reading the recipe contributions and when I find one I think I would like to try I cut and paste it into my own document. Great varieties of ideas.

Well time to read some more diaries etc. I will be back on tomorrow morning with my weight - hopefully to celebrate seeing how there is no one here to tell. LOL
Cheers Rosemary

We are also having torrential rains at the moment. Did you get to see your friends or were you blocked in?

You are doing so well Rosemary - awesome that you are already starting to get into clothes that were a bit snug before.

And don't keep us in suspense ... how did your weigh in go

Keep strong!!

Default Day 22

HI, First goal achieved so now its on to the next goal. I weighed in at 84.7 kg this morning so Another 1.2 Kg GONE. This makes a total of 6.8 Kg lost in three weeks. I am confident to say gone forever. Of course I would have liked to see more off but thats ok as long as its going.

Looks like it is another day at home with the predicted river heights to block the Bruce Highway. So I decided that today I am going through my wardrobe and get rid of those clothes that were loose or comfy before Cohens, because I won't need them anymore. I have found some clothes that I forgot I had and they are in the pile for the next few weeks to fit into. Next I might tackle some kitchen cupboards. This river could be up for awhile and then it is the week end so I guess that I won't be at work for the rest of the week.

Gotta keep busy to avoid temptation.

Thanks to Perthwoman and Daffodil for your support. Cheers Rosemary

Hi Louise, Depending on the day and the time BUT they are fairly flexible. But definitely around lunch time, but I will see what I could do at any other time you may be in Ayr. Love to meet you. Rosemary

Default Hi

Hi Rosemary. After you so kindly responded to my post i thought i sneak a peak at your diary and cheer you along the way. 4 weeks in and still doing well. Gives me inspiration.
How are you going with the yoghurt, did you find one that was tasty. I made the mango smoothie the other day with mango allowance, the yoghurt allowance and thinned dwon with the diet lemonade and some ice blocks. It was delicious.!!
Lokk forward to watching your progress
