However, I would rather be informed - Not Everyone is lucky and for some it is a big deal. Just like for some cheese is a big deal..... |

Re: YOGHURT - Request for help from members please.
Is yogurt measured by weight or by volume? My guide lists ml/oz which would lead me to believe it is by volume.
Anyone else think of this? It just seems odd because everything else (besides drinks) are by weight. |

Re: YOGHURT - Request for help from members please.
According to my online consultant, we are allowed 175g or 175ml of yogurt. I guess it's the same!

Re: YOGHURT - Request for help from members please.
Mls and grams is not the same for all substances.
Mls measures the volume, the mass. Gms depends on how thick or heavy a substances is. A really fine cream substance will probably be lighter (fit more in - per gm) than a thick peanut butter type substance. (fit in less - per gram) 100 Mls stays the same volume no matter what the weight of something is. Line up 100 mls of different substances, and they will weight different, but will come up to the same 100ml measurement. Because we go by gms - weight - a thin light yoghurt, may be more in volume, and a heavy yoghurt, may be less in volume but they are probably just as filling as each other. Experiment see what suits you. More of light yoghurt or less of heavy yoghurt.

You are right that the mass and volume would not be the same for all substances.
One correction to your post - mls measures volumes NOT mass. Grams measure mass. |

Another question on the yoghurt
What is the difference between the natural yoghurt and the greek yoghurt? I am only just starting to eat the yoghurt as I found earlier on in the program could not tolerate it and it did not keep my full so gave it a miss. But no reading the different type of yoghurts people are eating and I notice some have the greek and some don't, this made me wonder what is the differnce and is either alright to have? |

Re: YOGHURT - Request for help from members please.
I am really missing my yoghurt since the cyclone - I am still waiting for the shops to get it back!
Wendy I asked my bf what is a greek yoghurt and he said they are natural and they are always set. Check the fat content and make sure it is the low fat one. He tells me the original greek yoghurt was pure with no additives, but he's not so sure about the commercial ones - just check your ingredients Last edited by louise41; 14-02-2011 at 22:21. |

Re: YOGHURT - Request for help from members please.
have another question to do with yoghurt.
Can you freeze yoghurt, I am thinking of mixing mine up with the fruit and sweetener and then freezing it, not sure if it can be frozen. Might seem like a dumb question but I thought of it when walking past the freezer section and the supermarket and saw the yoghurt and with the hot weather thought it might be a good idea |

Wendy you can freeze yogurt. Check GLT's diary she made them into popsicle sticks. I also freeze my allowance with mangoes and it is so yummy!

Re: YOGHURT - Request for help from members please.
Im eating vaalia now and I am not experiencing any problems. And it doesn't even taste sweet, so how much inulin are they actually using. It doesn't say! Inulin is also found in some of the vegetables we are allowed to eat on this program. Everything in moderation I say. I might do a change over after I finish what I have purchased and see if it makes any difference. Good thread, thanks.

I'm
Curious though why does my diet plan only makes mention of purchasing less than 2% fat ! If this came from the doc a very long time ago shouldn't the planners state this ? Not everyone has Internet even in this age.

Re: YOGHURT - Request for help from members please.
Hi Babybear
My understanding is that any unflavoured natural yogurt without inulin and less than 2% fat is allowed on the program hope this helps |
