Home for a rest...
Funny bugger...
I often feel like that when I go away. Funny how that works. I think I need to organise a trip off to a resort in the sun for myself...and soon. I need a bit of a break. I should really aim for Darwin in August to meet up with the lovely Hexi and co. Anywho...good to hear from you. Hugs AE.

Wow, it's almost been a WEEK since I posted here
AJ - yep, I do manage to find a bit more time when "back at work" AE - thanks for dropping by. For me, it's a bit different - I went home to Bne - when in Syd, I'm "at work" - just the way life is at the moment... Faithy - aw, thanks, sweetie - it's good to hear YOU sounding good! Well, what's been happening in the world of Koh :- The last few weeks have been HECTIC, with me being in Bne 3 - 4 times in the last 6 weeks (this has been because we have been renovating an investment property - so it's been "all hands on deck" for a few weeks). That involved me getting paint everywhere on me, sore muscles from carpentry work, etc. - and, in each case, coming back to work (Syd) for a rest !! My younger son has been doing the guts of the work, and "project managing" those things outside his capabilities. He came up with some brilliant ideas (including turning it from a 3bdr 1ba into a 4bdr 1.5 ba - that helps so much with the value !!!) New kitchen, new bathroom, new 4th bedroom and study, new toilet (carved out of a rather large laundry). As well as fixing some long-standing problems - needed new ceilings in lounge, dining, kitchen from previous water problems. It's come along well, and the original tenant moves back in TODAY !!! (He's "the best" - I'd love him to be able to buy his own home, but, while he can't, I'm VERY happy to continue renting to him). The reno has added $90,000 to the value for an outlay of ~$50,000 (the rental increase will more than cover the borrowings, which is nice - but the RBA needs to take a "chill pill" if THAT is to remain so .... ) And now, I'm back in Syd since Monday gone - and I've started "playing in my sandpit" BTW, I'm now seeking input to have the "Classics" forum grow with those threads/posts that deserve a place as classics. So please do stop by in "Koh's Classics" to let me know YOUR faves.... Oh, and while you are looking, DO capture any links to FUNNY stories too. One of the threads in "Classics" will be for "light reading" - for a bit of a chuckle on darker days.... "Classics" is the culmination of what we wanted to happen way back. It's going to be the big brother of "gems" (which will still be around, BTW) - and will hopefully accumulate all the "Wow!!" articles in one place to make it easier to find them again. That's the plan.... On the "not quite what I wanted" side of things, that earlier car accident (around New Year) is likely to become sub judice (so I won't go into THAT here). Here's the link:- http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4482 But I will say, if someone invites you to drive a rental car, and you are NOT an authorised driver, DON'T DO IT !!!! It can seriously hurt if things go bad... Wish me luck, people I may need more than my share.... Koh

Hi all,
Time for another update..... Well, this long weekend (Queen's Birthday) I planned to remain in Syd to finalise those overdue Tax returns.... But then, sometimes life has other plans. On Friday I received an email from a mate (we worked together, and were in London together, 40+ years ago - we both turned 21 there). He was also Best Man when wife and I got married, so we "go back aways"!! Anyway, he was coming to the Gold Coast (from NZ) and wanted to catch up. Wife couldn't make it, but I was able to get a return flight on Sunday - so I went !!! As we left the Coolangatta airport, he asked "where can we go down here...." . Umm, let's see now ..... Just then, I spotted a '57 Chevy Belair, and a Camaro (in show condition) cruising down the road...... Hey, long weekend, June - could this be "Wintersun"? Well, yep it WAS !!!! So we spent a couple of hours enjoying Wintersun (classic cars, rock'n'roll, Elvis impersonators, etc.) at Coolangatta, and snapped a few pics of some favourite cars (might even load one or two up here).... later. It must've been TEN years since wife and I did Wintersun !!! It has GROWN - wow !! Then went back to where he was staying, and kicked back. OMG, it was SO good to catch up again. He had 50 or 60 photos from "way back then" and they (and the conversation) brought back so many memories ...... He and I looked so bloody YOUNG then - (how strange ) - times have changed. Anyway, it was a sweet interlude (I couldn't say "No" now could I - and I'm glad I didn't....) Back in Syd again and back into the Taxes.... but first I think I'm going have to go "the Cohens way" with this forum - like allow myself a "forum meal" but then 5 hours before coming on again for another "meal" Bit of a starvation diet, but this forum can be addictive...... (No, really Koh?) So, people, after this post, it's tax time for me - I'll be around later..... To AJ - thanks for the good wishes mate (keep 'em coming ..... they're appreciated ) And Lily, thanks for your sweet words - and hey, the Classics are still being "gathered" (I have a list of my "notables" that will need a bit of work before posting). But meanwhile:- Quote:
Just remember, just like Wintersun, Classics are "the best of the best" - and that new forum will target posts as such.... so choose your "very best faves" for possible inclusion. And don't forget those rib-ticklers if/when you find them too. Go for it.... Where you are able, please provide a link too (saves me a lot of time). Thanks, and see you all later.... Koh

Sounds like a great weekend, Koh. I can relate to the catching up, as I was involved in some 'do you remember ...' at the weekend too. Always great fun, and definitely worth forgetting the taxes for.
I do keep seeing sentences and statements that I think are noteworthy, just forget to let you know. AJ

Hi all,
Once again, I'm back HOME for a few days !! Leave tomorrow, and back Wed 9th - I'll likely still "pop in" from time to time, but nowhere near as often. Home has other calls on my time (as it should ) Meanwhile, keep on doing what you all do best - kicking Kg's to the kerb !! I'll be back before you know it, and pestering you all again AJ, thanks girl - I don't know how you find the time to get to as many diaries as you do. Hugs to you Barb - yep, I told them I was "sorry" (they weren't impressed - hmm, that follows, doesn't it? Works for me... ) Ah well, fighting on - as we do... Fortunately, THEY owe ME - if it were the other way around, I think the dogs would have been let loose by now.... Cya all soon - keep on cranking, you winners !!! Koh

Hi all,
I've had a great week - and a song just flashed into my head "Some days are diamonds - some days are coal..." Well, I've had a diamond day (or seven) - a radio astrologer had intimated on last Sat. night that "this will be a great week for you re your career". Now, I don't put a lot of store in horoscopes, etc. - I don't dismiss them entirely either - but, having recalled those words, Monday just gone was STELLAR !!!! And the week itself has just got better and better... Let me explain..... I work for a major company (as an IT contractor) and, as happens, an "emergency" led to an urgent requirement for action. Three of us were "the first link in the chain" to put things right - and, yeah, we worked back a bit (a lot) to meet the need, and complete the first step in "putting things right". It's what you do, isn't it, when you work for a company, and the proverbial hits the fan? So, no biggie...... or was it? Last Monday, the emails were flying thick and fast re our efforts - first from my Manager, thanking us for our efforts "beyond the call of duty" - then it went up the line, all adding to the applause - and man, it felt good !! It doesn't happen often, but this particular emergency was VERY sensitive, so I guess MANY were taking notice of it... Our efforts were commented on by all levels right up to the CEO's reports !!! Doorways started to become a problem for us (getting our heads through them) Speaking of doorways though, it never hurts to get YOUR name known to "higher-ups" in any organisation - as long as it is in a positive light, of course.... And so it seemed to transpire, as it's now likely that this company is looking to keeping me on a bit longer, despite previous commentary that said "This will be your last contract" (due to end next month). I love what I do, and know I can add even more value to this Company by staying around another 6 months - now, it looks like they are likely to do just that, maybe thanks to that "emergency" and its high-intensity focus ..... Woohoo - I wonder what that astrologer has to say tonight for NEXT week? To my visitors:- AJ - thanks, lady - you are a rock.... and a sweet one at that. Hugs Loulou - Mmmmm - thanks, that was nice !!! Sheree - You are so welcome - I hope things are settling for you and things are going well. Thanks for your words to me - they mean a lot Connie and Irene - Well, WHAT can I say about you two ??? Sounds like you are having fun - so, go for it, you funny buggers... Koh

Congratulations, Koh. Knowing the dedication you put in on the forum, I can't say I'm surprised that you received favourable reports for your work. Great that they decided to keep you on a bit longer, although I think they should already have been begging you to stay with them.
