Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Good morning all - my Monday weigh in was 90.5kg. I'm getting excited about being an 80's girl next week !! I'm in week 12 of the program and still going strong weight loss wise but I am struggling a bit with temptation and motivation. Ridiculous I know, these numbers shouldbe all the motivation I need, but maybe being half way through the program is making me slump a bit?
Anyway next week is blood test week as well. START of CHALLENGE: Bunnybuckle .... weight 98.00 - torniquet tight jeans ...size 20 week 1 weight.......96 ... loss 2kg week 2 weight.......94 ... loss 2kg week 3 weight ......92.5..loss 1.5kg week 4 weight ......90.5.. loss 2kg |

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
My Start weight was 83.9kg
Week 1:my weight was 84.6kg (gained 500grms) Week 2:my weight was 81.4kg (loss of 3.2kg) Week 3:my weight was 80.8kg (loss of 600grms) Week 4:my weight was 82.6kg (gain of 1.8kg!! oops lost my way a bit last week) Hi Kristine, Saturday is always my day for weigh in, but was feeling so fat this morning, I hopped on the scales. My weight was 84.8kg that is a gain of 2.2kg!! since last Saturday!! I think I need to step back from this challenge as I am making very negative reading which is not fair for those who are so motivated and doing very well. I know I will beat this monster in time but for some reason this is not that time. Thank you again Kristine, but please count me out of this challenge. I wish everyone else all the very best in fitting into those items of clothing that have been cutting you all in half. Cheers Marg

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Morning fellow Touniquettes!
Today's Weight 73.8 kilos Gain since last Monday 14/05/2012 = 0.10 kilos Commenced .. Monday 23/04/2012 75.80 kilos Size 16 very tight Start Week 2 Monday 30/04/2012 75.40 kilos 0.40 loss size 16 not quite as tight Start Week 3 Monday 07/05/2012 73.70 kilos 2.10 loss size 16 comfortable Start Week 4 Monday 14/05/2012 73.80 kilos 0.10 gain size 16 comfortable Start Week 5 Monday 21/05/2012 Not Weighed – on Holiday in the Barossa! Start Week 6 Monday 28/05/2012 74.10 kilos 0.30 gain size 16 comfortable Size 16 FJ full waisted Jeans are a comfortable fit Size 12 waisted corduroy jeans easier to do up and with a smoother muffin than previously. Still plenty of ‘room’ for improvement! Sorry to have missed collating last week’s results. I shall clear the holiday backlog on my desk and return to my Tourniquet duties during this week You have all done so well, I shall be pleased to see how much we have lost and shrunk MaggieLyn – don’t concern yourself about gaining and feeling that you are ‘setting a bad example’. However, if being on the challenge makes you feel uncomfortable – and not just around the waist – then of course you may be excused. Just remember that none of us are here to pass judgement. You are on Maintenance, aren’t you? Maintenance is scary land – look at me, gained over 2 kilos just by going to the Barossa for a few days and eating things like chicken pie (a proper chef’s pie on a plate at a table, not from a bakery eaten from a bag!) and drinking a glass or two of excellent wine with dinner I enjoyed it all, but not as much as I would have – I could feel myself bloating like the Michelin Man and knowing that each meal would take me another day on the program to get rid of This whole weight loss journey is easily sabotaged by our own feelings of guilt. I do feel a bit of a dill having put on 2.4 kilos over the brief holiday (Sunday morning 73.00 kilos, Thursday morning 75.30 kilos) ... it is gobsmacking to think that I put on at least 500 gms per day!!! How did I do that?!? But, you know, I can’t let it beat me. I want to weigh 68 kilos, just as you do, and once I get to 68 kilos I will then skip down to 63 - 65 kilos which is my own personal ideal weight. Hey, as I am now 62 years old maybe I should weigh 62 kilos! No, 62 kilos would be fun but a bit skinny! So MaggieLyn, you are not alone, looking with dismay at the treacherous scales as they mischievously and defiantly go in the opposite direction to our plans and desires. But we can wrestle with the beast and overcome this. Taken over a month, we all lose weight. Weekly weighing, daily weighing, can undermine us as we become fixated on the small bumps and spikes rather than the long term trend. Please reconsider and stay with the challenge. Focus on the fit of the clothes rather than the weight on the scales. Hang your favourite item of 68 kilo clothing where you can see it and try it on without getting on the scales. See if ‘fit’ makes more sense to you than ‘weight’. We all have a trigger mechanism which causes us to go in one direction or another. My trigger to eat is to watch TV. Watching TV is the most dangerous eating activity for me as I don’t even know I have eaten whatever it is. Identify what or when you are compelled to eat and see if you can change this part of the daily routine. I like to deliberately spend some time together with Mike in the same room each day – eating dinner, watching an hour or so of TV – otherwise the days go by and we have barely seen each other – but the TV watching undermines me so I have tried to shift our ‘together time’ to another part of the house or to include another activity, anything but put myself where I will have the urge to eat! Don’t throw in the towel just yet. You have lost 1.30 kilos in 4 weeks. That’s quite good going. Don’t expect 1 kilo losses each week, be pleased with the running 4 week average and keep trying on those 68 kilos clothes and they will be fitting property in no time at all Lotsa love Kristine |

Woah, forgot to update here, 1.5kg down this week
Current weight is 71.8kg, total loss of 6.7kg. Not as much as I'd hoped but last weeks slow loss has upset things. Still, I've been totally D-free so just doing what I can

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Hi Kristine,
I am certainly not giving up, I am still sitting around 84kg at present. Yes, I am on maintenance and it has become harder as I have put on a few kilos more than I am happy or comfortable with. Thank you everyone for your posts on here, I know what you are saying makes sense and is great advise. Maybe what I said was a bit misunderstood, I can't aford to give up and will never stop trying to get back down to around the 70kg mark, but I think with so much going on in my life at present it just makes it harder to maintain. We are moving out of our house as of Sunday / Monday for about 4 -5 weeks for earthquake repairs to our house. I will have very limited access to a computer so will only be updating when I get the chance. But I am going to be using this time to get back on track with my eating, we will be cooking every night at the motel and Cohens is nice and simple for such limited space. You are all doing very well, keep up the good work it is all very encouraging. I will be popping in when I can. I am really hoping I will have lost a few kilos by the time we come back to our repaired and freshly painted house, every room has to be re decorated, which will be really nice in the end. Cheers Marg

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Hey MaggieLyn
Hope the next few weeks are good for you I can't imagine what the earthquakes must have been like. Where I live here in Melbourne we are at the very end of a fault line which runs up from Gippsland. About 2 years ago we had three very small earthquakes over about five months. I can still remember the noise as all the windows of the house 'whipped' for a second as the vibration moved through the house. I only felt it because had my feet on the floor. My Son had his feet tucked up on the frame of his chair and he didn't feel it at all. But we all know that the good folk of Christchurch certainly felt those earthquakes in no uncertain terms! I hope you 'new' house is just lovely when you get back ... and that you have lost a few kilos while enjoying you few weeks 'holiday' at the motel Regards Kristine |

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
Hi Buckleberry
Yep! Two Weeks to Go! Sorry for my own absence and not keeping up with collating the results. I will do that 'soon' Today's Weight 73.3 kilos Loss since last Monday 14/05/2012 = 0.80 kilos Commenced: Monday 23/04/2012 75.80 kilos Size 16 very tight Start Week 2 Monday 30/04/2012 75.40 kilos 0.40 loss size 16 not quite as tight Start Week 3 Monday 07/05/2012 73.70 kilos 2.10 loss size 16 comfortable Start Week 4 Monday 14/05/2012 73.80 kilos 0.10 gain size 16 comfortable Start Week 5 Monday 21/05/2012 Not Weighed – on Holiday in the Barossa! Start Week 6 Monday 28/05/2012 74.10 kilos 0.30 gain size 16 comfortable Start Week 7 Monday 04/06/2012 73.30 kilos 0.80 loss size 16 comfortable Total Weight Loss while on Challenge: 2.50 kilos. At this rate, I won’t lose the 10 kilos in the 8 weeks, but I have the chance to lose another couple of kilos before the end of the Challenge. Losing ‘something’ is still good, but I still have the opportunity to aim for a credible 5 kilos overall so I shall take a deep breath and go for it. Size 16 FJ full waisted Jeans are a comfortable fit – they will probably remain so as they are full waisted and would probably not ‘fall down’ until I measure size 10! Size 12 waisted corduroy jeans easy to do up but are not yet flattering above the waist band. Size 14 Millers stretch jeans (with the Hollywood Hip Hugger thingy) fit well and don’t create bulges. They now sit well and look as if I have ‘lost weight’ – a pleasant loose fit and the fabric has a nice hang to it. Regards Kristine

TWO WEEK TOURNIQUET SPRINT: Monday 4th June to Sunday 17th June 2012
OK Fellow Tourniquets!
Today is Monday 4th June and our Ten Week Tourniquet challenge finishes on Sunday 17th June (last weigh in Monday 18th to complete the 10 weeks) So now we have the opportunity for a Two Week Tourniquet Sprint! Have a look at your ‘best ever’ two week period during this Challenge ie any recent two week period since 23rd April. For me it was the first 2 weeks of the Challenge: Commenced: Monday 23/04/2012 75.80 kilos Start Week 3 Monday 07/05/2012 73.70 kilos Loss in the 2 week period: 2.10 kilos So over the Two Week Sprint, I aim to match or better that loss I would feel OK about losing 5 kilos over the 10 weeks but of course my much publicised Barossa Deviations (not to mention the Marigold Hotel crème caramel and other misdemeanours) have soaked up the opportunity for me to lose the trophy of a 10 kilos loss during this period. Will you join me in this Sprint? Let’s use this Tight Two Week Period to make a difference and loosen those Tourniquet Tight Trousers! Regards Kristine |

Re: The Tourniquet Challenge: 10 kilos in 8 weeks 23rd April to Sunday 17th June, 201
I had another slow week, really don't know why tho. Oh well, 900g down for me, current weight 70.9kg.
No way I'll make the 10kg goal with my standard losses now, but I'll be getting as much as I possibly can. Haven't deviated in the whole time I've been doing Cohen's so never mind, the scales are still going DOWN!!! Perhaps this is a weight I stayed at before? Although I honestly didn't think I even paused on the way up the scales! I'm in for the 2 weeks, as much as possible |
