cool baloo.

lots of sociological ponderings about why politicians who are overweight dont get elected and actors who are overweight get comedy roles.

people think you are out of control when your overweight, that you cant get things done cause your fat. i think that this is another example of the broad array of emotions that weight loss brings up for people. in yr case the loss has increased yr confidence but also your companies confidence in you, and confidence has an emotional element . amazing.

cheers pen

What a great story Baloo. Worthy of slimming magazine but your privacey is more important.

You asked for some motivation. I set a mini goal of this week to be 85.5kg down from 88kg.

Yesterday I lost 0.9kg and 3% body fat being pure. Try a mini goal?

87.1kg and 24.9% bf.

Peter

AGAIN great outcome on the new position.

Wow baloo that is great news. Focusing on your self and then getting a promotion.

I work for a large organisation where all the execs are fit and healthy, they want to set a great example to the rest of staff. We have access weight watchers meetings at work, free fruit, discounts to gyms and lifestyle meetings. We are are an investment/life insurance and superannution company. People that are overweight unfortunately are not getting the same opportunities as people that are fit and healthy.

Congrats Baloo,

I also had a similar situation... My boss' attitude twds me changed dramatically when I lost weight. Its hard to tell though how much of it is because my confidence improved and how much was him. But I would say it was probably 80% him and 20% my confidence!

No promotion yet for me, but the only job left for me in Australia would be his........ but I did get a big pay rise last year, and I'll get a significant bonus this year, so that all helps!!

Baloo,

A hearty congratulations to you.

The following is ever so true though isn't it....

Quote:
As a battle scarred peer said to me yesterday "Congratulations, the target on your back just got a lot bigger and brighter".
The bit about the single-minded focus on your weight loss is definitely something that upper management would notice (first in a negative way - too much stress?) and then a definite positive way once they realized it was all under control. I'm hoping mine will allow me to make a change rather than a promotion. Was getting too self-conscious with the gut to actively go looking.

Don't know where the 100gms came from. I suspect it's due to no BM for a few days. I added bran to my yoghurt and apple this morning so that should fix things. I suppose that could be seen to be a deviation .

Have a good one folks.

Hey Lonniecee, Peter, Kristine, Baloo

I don't log on that much anymore, nor do I regularly update my diary. However, whenever I log on, I look for your threat, as you guys are doing really well, and your struggle to be 100% is something I can really relate to. Luckily, I decided right away that i wanted to get way below the Cohens range, and despite everyone telling me to start refeed, I didn't, and got to between 4 and 5 kilos below, which is where I seemed to have settled now.

I have experimented with food quite a bit after I was done with refeed. I know you guys have put on weight again, and struggle with binges. I know that all to well from myself. As a daily weigher, I can take counter measures immediately. I find the thing that works best is to actually make sure you eat enough food. So I don't weigh the protein (apart from my yogurt in the morning), not the veg. I eat as much of that as I want. If I have 250 gr of lean steak, and a bowl of salad, I don't miss the carbs.

I only eat carbs (the 50 gr ones, not the bread/crackers) if I intend to have chocolate/desert. I then have to 'force' myself to have 50 gr of nuts with the pure protein/veg meal. When I am out, I have 3 spoons of rice. I used to be the biggest pasta eater. Now I actually cook 2 minute noodles just with water, split them up into 3 serves (happens to be exactly 50gr), freeze them, and if I do need carbs, chuck them into the microwave. They taste shite, basically they are just staple, so I don't overeat on them, and I only have them if I am planning on desert.

So in other words; I have 2 meals a day where I'm quite full, and often have desert. The carbs are just in the meal cos I found that any desert (and I do have lovely ones, eg 50 gr chocolate, or a piece of chocolate cake or sticky date pudding of whatever) goes nearly un-noticed with my weight if I stick to the rule: eat proteins and veg, have carbs only cos I have to, not cos I like them. Do not ever have a dish based around carbs, Ie no fried rice or noodle dishes.

It's up to you, and what works for me doesn't have to work for you, but to me chocolate and desert are more important than carbs.

And: if I exercise lots (which I usually do), I add some carbs, so may have a bit more that 50 gr per meal, or have a handful of nuts as a snack, or have a slice or two of bread.

Hope this helps!

Katrin

WOWEE A huge 1.0 kg loss overnight. The bran didn't have any effect at all and I do mean nothing, zip, zilch so another dose on my yoghurt and fruit at breaky. Went to cardio last night, took it relatively easy for my backs sake, and then only had a 1/2 hour to finish dinner and my fruit and crackers. Stayed up for the 2 hours post eating and all is good. I was really excited to see those numbers on the scale this morning.
Hope everyone is travelling well.

No change this morning. Whilst I did have a result from the bran it didn't show on the scales. Weighed again after my toning session and had lost 100 gms but I'm not taking that as a real loss. All in all I'm pleased with where I'm at.

So my brother and his girlfriend came over on Sunday and I had cheese and bikkies as well as wine, and a non Cohens dinner of steak (ok) and veg with a couple of wedges thrown in. Had a great surprise when I got on the scales today. Toddling along happily.

Hi, here I am

I had a couple of really stressful weeks and had lots of work to do, so didn't come on to this forum for a while

After seeing 'Shout' there was another dinner the following week, but the weight seemed to stabiliised and the distended midriff had flattened out, and then there was something else, excuses, excuses.

But I noticed this morning that even though I am still holding steady at 64 kilos, the midriff is looking fuller again. So as from this Monday I shall have another crack. I have the bags of chicken and beef weighed and in the freezer so may as well eat them!

Cheers
Kristine
