Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hi Girls!! Yes, slow to appear on here today sorry!
The meeting with Greg was fantastic! The salary range for the role is right where I hoped it would be and he offered the top end, which is a bit more than I hoped for. He admitted that he'll have a fight with HR to get it approved as its about a 20% increase from what I'm on now, but I have faith in him! The more we talked about the role, the more excited I got. It really is everything I was looking for. Thanks for keeping a eye on me Kenga! I need it! Cohens is going really well. Who would have thought a week in Fiji would be such motivation!! Look, my ticker went down 0.5kg! I've actually lost a lot more than that this week but I'm not telling how much, that would give away how naughty I was before I drew the line in the sand I've been d-free since Tuesday and plan to be until I finish. I turned down an invite to yum cha for Sunday but accepted one to Deus Ex Machina for Saturday night. Have you been there Kenga? I asked them to email the menu and I can have the steak (minus the mustard butter and potatoes) with a side salad. So the next step is to email and ask whether they mind weighing and portioning my raw steak for me. I didn't walk to work this morning as I was super tired. I realised my body was asking me for a rest last night when all it wanted to do was lie on the couch. Plus I woke during the night, so that sealed the deal and I reset the alarm for 30 mins later. I had a nice egg breakfast today. I boiled some eggs last night and had one this morning with salt, pepper and a side salad of baby spinach, spanish onion, tomato and a drip of balsamic vinegar. A bit odd for breakfast but yummy! Nix, I love your pics - hot, hot, hot! I think we call the flying carpet a layout, I can't quite remember. We twist our body though so the direction it's facing is parallel to the floor, rather than up to the ceiling. The twisting helps lock the pole between your thighs - ouch! It's less than a week now until me first class - eek! Here come the bruises. At least it is winter and they'll be covered up at work!!! I'll return the favour and send you some pics of my week 8. Hi PB. Thanks for the idea. Sweetening a whole tub at once would certainly save time. I might stick to the mortar and pestle though - love any excuse to bash things about! Hi Deelight. I'll check out the 10kg club. The more support the better! Well ladies, hope you're having a fabulous day... Cheers, Nat-xx

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Sharing is caring, Nat!
I'm very happy for you - Greg sounds like a decent man. Good luck, fingers crossed and all the best for the job! No, I haven't been to Deus Ex Machina but have heard that the food + coffee are great. Good for you for asking for what you want - I'd probably just guestimate the quantity and ask for salad dressing on the side so I can ignore it. I have to learn a few skills. Glad that all is well - even your b/fast sounds good and gives me positive vibes! Re: yogurt - if it's fresh ( 0 to 5-6 days in the fridge and the longest 'best before' date I can find on the shelf) it has a sweet-ish taste - I don't put anything on it...But then again 1) I'm too scared of sweeteners and 2) too lazy. Take care and see you on the w/end (?). |

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hi Kenga,
Thanks for the lovely message And for caring too I thought about guestimating but don't really want to have the potato and butter on my plate. Plus the only real reason that I have any hesitation about placing a custom order, is explaining it to my friends. Not that they wouldn't be supportive but most of the time they've known me I've been on one diet or another and it's embarrassing. BUT it just makes me more accountable for my actions. This time is THE time! I'm a bit scared of sweeteners too. When I'm at goal, I'm going to give them up and focus on whole foods. I don't normally eat processed foods and try to keep chemicals out of my diet as much as possible but I can't stand coffee and yoghurt au natural! Yes, would definitely like to catch up on the wekend. Will send you an email. Right now so I don't forget. Cheers, Nat-xx

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hey Ladies: your comments with regard to sweetners and being scared of using them. Aspartane based sweeteners are not what you would want to be consuming but the stevia based product is a natural product and quite safe. Google them and you will soon discover. Hope you dont mind me putting in my two bobs worth. Ha - have a great night. Narelle

Hi Dee - I know about stevia (have a small bottle in my fridge) but wasn't sure we can use it - I don't think it's on my list...will have to double check.

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hi Nat,
How wonderful - well done! All is sounding great on the job front! I love job excitment.. it's been so long since i had that... Hehehe glad you liked the pics, tho hot hot hot... i'm not not not (not yet anyways) I've still not really mastered this move.. it is supposed to be like a plank.. I'm somewhere near sitting still hehehe but i will get it if not this course then next.. can't believe i'm already considering the next one.. hahaha.. who would have thought! OOh and i am the master of weird breakfasts... you get used to it after a while; eating things that aren't technically a breakfast food, and quite honestly i've come to love it.. I do envy you with the boiled egg tho, this is not a cooking skill i have mastered.. so i stick to poached or my new fav egg dish cabbage tomato mushroom scramble.. mmm makes a great dinner! PS Loved that you diary hogged my diary... I do it to yours far too often. I leave for cairns in the wee hours of the morning so I may not be around till Tuesday... so have a great Friday and lovely LONGGGGG weekend! Go FIJI GIRL GO!! Nix xo

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hi Deelight. Thanks for the advice re: stevia. I've heard of it before from my nutritionist friend who raves about it. I'll double check with my clinic (like a good little cohenite) and try it out.
Kenga, I've been trying to reply to your email all day but my iphone email isn't working for some reason. It'll go through when I get home tonight at the latest, but yes 10am Sunday is good. Looking forward to it!! Nixxy! I've already been in your diary today and have pledged to keep it company in your absence Have a wonderful time in Cairns. I love it up there! BTW.. boiling eggs is really easy. The hardest part is getting them in the boiling water without cracking, which you do by running them under hot water for a few mins before sliding them in nice and easy. Then leave them to boil for about 10 mins. Oh and I forgot to mention that I've bombed out and not done any prep for pole classes starting next week, so now I am really nervous! My friend and I are madly organising some practise time this weekend. Time to go back upside down!!! Well I haven't heard back from Deus Cafe where we're eating tomorrow night, so I may have to guestimate after all. I might call tomorrow afternoon and give it another go. Some people aren't good at communication over email and the owner's email containing the menu certainly suggested he might be one of them. Fingers crossed. Not much to report today really. Oh no wait, I had an excellent dinner last night and lunch today... cooked prawns with aioli and salad. Coles do 1kg bags of cooked and peeled prawns, so I weigh out half again what I need and defrost them in the fridge during the day. They're actually quite decent. I always defrost too many so Vince gets a little side snack with his dinner which makes him happy! I figured that I could use my 1 tsp of mayo allowance and add some lemon and garlic and voila! restuarant meal Two of my best girlfriends and I are running our Biggest Loser contest again. We're each doing different weight loss programs and record our weight, body fat % and measurements each friday. The person that loses the most weight and cm's as a % of their start weight and cm's will be The Winner. As a reward we're having a girls pamper day on 5th June and the two runners up have to purchase a bottle of Veuve for us to share and prepare a yummy but healthy meal. The real prize comes two months later and it's awarded to the person that maintains their results the best - we go shopping and buy the winner/best maintainer a dress. Sounds good hey? Just another way to keep me honest and provide motivation. Guess who's winning so far? Yeah baby - me Alright, that really is it. Nothing else to say! Cheers, nat-xx

Hi Kenga,
That's great news. Where did you get your stevia? How about Naggy's cafe? It's on Glebe Point Road near the intersection of Wigram Road. It's really close to me which I feel a bit cheeky for, but I'll come to you next time. Cheers, Nat-xx

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Wow Miss Nat, I so want to join in on your 'biggest loser' contest. Sounds like a great motivation to me....I love buying new clothes but find that I generally pick things up at op shops so something from a 'real shop' paid by others is a great motivation!!!
love your aoli idea too....I so must try that however not sure I can sacrifice a lemon for a tsp of mayonnaise and miss out on my baked apple.....hmmmm |

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Well today is day 7 of my recommittment to being d-free and getting to goal and I feel GREAT! I can collect my reward tonight (for 7 days d-free)... a new Oroton wallet I'm very excited. I like that each time I open my wallet, it will remind of what I have achieved and add some more motivation to keep going. I lost another 600g over the weekend, so have been in and updated my ticker and am liking that the number on the left is growing and the number on the right is shrinking
My dinner out on Saturday night went really, really well. I rang the restuarant on Saturday afternoon as I hadn't had a reply email. The manager knew exactly who I was, apologised profusely for not getting back to me and said he already had my email printed out for the chef! When we arrived at the restaurant, he came over and said "one of you much be Natalie" and shook my hand! I felt a bit sorry my friend who's birthday it was that I was getting all the attention - hehe! My meal was looked beautiful (better than any of the others) and was DELICIOUS. Will definitely go back there. After dinner we went to a cocktail bar in Darlinghurst and I stayed out until 3am! Never thought I'd do that whilst only drinking soda water but the company was excellent and we were having lots of laughs. It meant that I got very little sleep on Saturday night which wasn't really good for my weight loss - my body wouldn't have had much time to burn fat during the night, but it was a one off that won't be repeated any time soon. I went to pole dancing practise yesterday to check that I could remember enough to validate my enrollment in intermediate. To my great relief I did! It's a bit patchy but I'll get there. My arms and shoulders are so stiff and sore today. No matter how much you warm up and cool down, it's practically inevitable that the first time you get on the pole in a long time, you're going to be sore. After we'd been there about half an hour, some girls in the advanced classes showed up and practised their routine. OH MY GOD they were amaaaazing! Holly and I left then feeling a bit intimidated but totally pumped and motivated to get to that level ourselves. And have their figures! I haev set a goal (yes another one!) to be comfortable enough with my figure that I will wear hot pants at our week 8 presentation class. At the moment I'm wearing short shorts which was confronting enough! Kenga - lovely to meet you yesterday. I'm so pleased we made it happen. BTW I bought Jalna yoghurt instead of the coles stuff and managed to eat that plain for breakfast this morning. I can't say I loved it but it was certainly palatable. Suzieblue - I posted about the lemon in your diary but for anyone else reading this, you don't need to give up a whole fruit for a squeeze of lemon, just have one less bite of your apple or skip the last segment or two of your orange. Believe me, it's totally worth it so you can have prawns with aioli - it did not feel like eating diet food at all. Anyway, better get some work done. Am liaising with HR on the hiring of my replacement - love it! Cheers, Nat-xx

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hey - I was just about to write to you to say 'thanks' for the catch up yesterday, it was great to meet you and we should do it again and possibly before the next 5 kg are gone. Maybe in about a month? [So we can show each other our boots? ]
You sound good! Take care! Ah - the yogurt - I'm glad you are learning to love it. As I've said, I don't have a problem with eating it plain - that's how I like it but you can try it with a bit of crushed CB on top - it may taste as cereal+yogurt??? Just a thought. |

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hey Nat
Well done on your recommitment and doinng so well!!!! You sound really motivated and excited and you're well on your way. I have been struggling - a LOT. Mostly with the eating out side of things which I really find hard. I start and then I have a social committment and I just give in so easily. Pathertic as I know I am just sabotaging myself! But I hate the way it feels when others start to questions me on the 'diet', what I'm allowed to eat, how much I've lost, what they'd heard about Cohens etc etc. So I just try to do the program 'on the quiet' and then 'pretend' when we get together with friends or family. Yes..... I KNOW I only have myself to blame - and I have tried to avoid these encountyers as much as possible - but not enough. So..... as a result I am on-off-on-off; Up-down-up- down etc...... I Also want to get to goal - I am sick of this yo-yo-ing and ongoing struggle. Sorry to rant on in your diary - I think you are doing so so well! Just a few questions as I feel I can relate to you somewhat: - what did you eat on Saturday night? Wasn't it a teeny tiny portion? - what did you tell your friends? Were they supportive? - Are you still affiliated to a clinic? Are they supportive? My program ends in July and I fear I won't make it to refeed by then (!!!!) I really can't let it go - this is my SECOND time!!! - Lastly: Do you find that exercise helps? I really feel I would feel a lot better (healthier) if I got into it again. I keep letting it go because I want to get to goal - but this is taking a LOT longer than planned. Well Done to you on the job and the weight! You deserve it. Cheers Jade

Re: miss_nat's Diary
Hi Nat
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me in my diary. I really appreciate it and it has really made me think long and hard again about what I am doing here and HOW I can make it work for ME. You certainly have got your head in the right space now and you're set for success! So....did ya get the wallet??? I need to start thinking about what I really want (other than a slim bum and thighs in my skinny jeans!) and start planning some serious goals with 'sweet' rewards. I also had a chat with my consultant today. She took a hard line - and said I must STOP thinking I'm deprived all the time. This is a LIFESTYLE change and I need to want it enough to embrace it and MAKE it work. So...I'm going to 'go away' and re-read my plan and think about this seriously now once and for all. i'll keep you posted. Enjoy the wallet if you got it and keep doing what you've been doing. It's working!! Cheers Jade |
