As SMS said 2-3 litres per day... THAT'S IT. Unless you're working on a chain gang crushing rocks in the sun... Having deviations in your blood test will not impact on your getting a refeed, at all. The only thing that will impact on getting a refeed is missing blood tests, OR, taking too long (more than about a year) to finish the programme. Your programme does NOT CHANGE through the time you're on it. Irrespective of how much you deviate (or not). You will NOT Be told 'what you're doing wrong'. And one last thing, it might be worth doing a search on the forum for some of those things for more reading, I certainly remember writing them all a number of times. asy.

Hi Di - to my understanding, the cumulative electrolytes (serum) tests don't send off alarms that you ate choccy cake or big macs in the preceeding periods; the purpose of the blood tests in relation to Dr. Cohen's programme is to prepare your personal refeed once you reach goal weight. The tests are comparative to normal levels of chloride, sodium, urea etc. Having said this - deviations will make you feel unwell, and this will show in these cumulative tests if your seriously going off plan in a big way. I wouldnt anticipate hearing anything back after a blood test unless it was indicating an issue in my overall health.
The EUC (electrolytes, urea, creatine) balance in our bodies is essential for the normal function of our cells and our organs. So what ever Dr. Cohen uses it for in relation to his research and prep of our personal refeed, I would assume it is also to ensure our kidneys, lungs, heart etc are functioning normally. A urea and electrolytes test is often used as a screening test for patients who are generally unwell to detect abnormalities of blood chemistry including kidney failure and dehydration. The comment quoted to you of 'boderline' could refer to anything and could have been in a context of an entire paragraph or sentance; just bare in mind that Dr. Cohen uses the blood tests in conjunction to your overall programme whilst on the Cohens plan; it is not to send around the deviation police...just a responsible way to make sure you maintain good health whilst on the programme all the way though. Keep up your fluid intake! And consult your Doctor if you want more info; I actually request a copy of each of my EUC's to go to my GP to keep on my medical file. End of the day - Dr. Cohen is ensuring we are all healthy on the programme and attain our goals. All the best with your programme! Moe |

Hi Dianne, I wouldn't worry if I was you. Chances are you're just being compared to what is considered the normal range and your results fall close to on end of that.
I've been told in the past that my kidneys weren't working properly when infact they were perfectly fine, I was just exercising a hell of a lot at the time and they had way more to process than 'normal'.

HI,
My first blood test said the same thing.. borderline OK.. I also asked them.. they said it could have been something as simple as a piece of fruit being on the larger side.. which I guess ups the sugar levels. I wouldn't worry about it.. I didn't.. I lost 12kg in my first 4 weeks, and have continue to lose consistently.. I have deviated in the past, and one of my blood test came back 'borderline DEVIATE'... So I would say yes, the blood tests can determine whether you have deviated or not.. but borderline OK.. to me is a good result!! Don't stress matey... keep following the program, and the kgs will continue to drop.. the blood tests are used to formulate the refeed. |
