Day 4, Week 4

Finally moved down the next 200 gm, or 800 gm since yesterday. I did know that the 600 gm increase yesterday was just an aberration , but was a little disappointed as I wasn't expecting it to happen yesterday I still think it may have had something to do with me feeling hungry all day on Saturday. I wasn't hungry at all yesterday. Thank you everyone for your help, encouragement and advice. It's so helpful to know you're all there supporting me.

I made the cauliflower and feta soup yesterday. It's as good as everyone has said. I also made up four batches of chicken, squash and zucchini, formed them into bite sized pieces to cook them, then froze them. I'm planning to use them when I go out socially when I know Cohen friendly food won't be an option. If necessary, I can take them out of my bag one by one and pop them into my mouth. I'm not sure if there are any regulations about taking your own food into a restaurant.

Great idea about the chicken bits! Yep the Cauli and Feta soup is my all time fav, I missed out this week though as I choose to have my feta in a salad when I went to my daughters birthday at Hungry Jacks Oh the things we do for kids!

You are chugging along and I find when I go up it always seems to drop off, plus some the next day!

Day 5, Week 4

Another 200 gm this morning and the digit to the left of the decimal point has finally moved down one. It seems to have taken ages to lose that kilo, but it's actually only six days. I checked back with other diets I'd been on. Previously, I've been happy with about 700 gms a week. In the week to today I've lost exactly twice that. Cohen's is great.

My day at the winery. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get out of the restaurant and back to the office today.

Our son phoned with exciting news last night. He's just been given a big salary increase, based largely on a recent trip to the NY office, and been offered a managerial position in NY. It would be a great career move for him, but personally not so good. He's to be married at the end of this year, they've recently bought an apartment and have a massive mortgage, and they moved back to Melbourne 12 months ago for various family and social reasons which still hold true. Anyway, they will decide, but we're very proud of him.

Day 6, Week 4
Well, up a kilo today. I spent the day at the winery yesterday, on my feet nearly all day. Boy, will my feet be pleased when I lose all this weight. Was tempted by some of the food, for the first time, but resisted. Fig tart with licorice icecream was on the menu. Yummy, wish I could have had some of that. At the end of the day I had to serve a piece of orange almond cake with sauce and cream as it had been missed with the original order and everyone else had gone. A piece broke off the cake and I threw it in the bin. One of the reasons I'm as fat as I am is that I'm always popping bits of food into my mouth when I'm in the kitchen, and it's really hard to stop that habit.

Anyway, the extra kilo is again water retention. I drank 3+ kilos of water between 11 and 7 without a toilet visit. Up and down all night of course, but still not enough to clear it all out. I hope it will all be gone again by tomorrow.

AJ,

Oddly enough we both seem to be fighting the same devil these past few days. I know it will pass but it sure is aggravating isn't it? We have both been a yo-yo since the beginning of Feb. If you are able to be around food constantly without popping bits & pieces in the mouth without thinking about it too much, you won't have any problems at all. It's just that we are both at the fat burning stage in full force now and will just have to weather out the frustrations.

Day 7, Week 4
Well, down 600 gm on yesterday but still up 400 gm on the previous day. I've taken to weighing my self at night as well as in the morning, just to see how many times I am likely to get up during the night. Last night I dropped exactly 3 kg between the time I went to bed and the time I got up this morning. It's no wonder my morning weight moves around a bit.

I spent most of yesterday at the winery doing some much needed filing. I intended leaving by lunch time, but couldn't. The chef (not the regular one, who wouldn't) made me a carefully weighed fresh herb salad with chopped tomatoes. Herbs make a lot of bulk. She wrapped chicken tightly in a roll in gladwrap and cooked it in the microwave, then sliced it into rounds and arranged in a circle on the salad. It looked very attractive.

We're going to an Indian restaurant for dinner tonight. I'm taking the chicken and vegetable 'bites' I made the other day.

Hi AJ,

I love how you've approached your up's and down's so logically! I tend to get a bit emotional about the ups and downs - but am going to take a leaf out of your book (so to speak) and consider the water intake, retention, etc.

Am really proud of you for all the resisting. It must be hard being in a restaurant! I used to own a pizzeria, and I remember always popping cheese, salami or broken pieces of crust into my mouth. I'm SO glad I'm not there anymore!

Good luck with the restaurant visit tonight - keen to hear how it goes!

Take care,

BFG

Hi AJ

Wow you do fluctuate a bit - but at least in the end it is going in the right direction - yay. I flatlined a bit at 4 weeks and had a mini stress attack (lasted half a day ) but then got over it and enjoyed a nice drop and cms down after it. Hang in there - swings and roundabouts as MM says.

Day 1, Week 5
I'm really happy today. I knew I had lost weight, despite the scales being up. I'm down 800 gm on my low of three days ago, and 1.2 kg on yesterday.Yea!!!

Last night's dinner went well. We went to an Indian restaurant. Hey, Koh, if you're reading this, they must have heard of you. They named the restaurant after you -- Kohinoor. I took along my chicken, zucchini, squash and curry 'nuggets' and ate them off my lap while the others were eating their meal. I microwaved them before I went and they were still warm when I ate them more than an hour later. I also took an apple, which I cut into thin slices and held together with a rubber band. I drank water all night. My husband appreciates that I'm not drinking. The only temptation was the bottle of champers sitting next to me all night (which I didn't touch), and that was more habit than really wanting any.

I went for my four week appointment this morning. I'm down 7.6 kg for the four weeks. I was hoping to get to 7 kg for the month, so I'm in front there. I've lost 16.5 cm from my main measurements, 9.5 cm of it from my waist. As should be pretty obvious from that, my waist has never been my main problem area. I fitted into some slacks last night that are a size down from what I was wearing, and I was bursting out of the previous size. The slacks aren't at all -- slack that it. I'm sure they will be soon.

Hi again AJ,

I only came into programming late so I was a VB in Access programmer and in the course of my Bachelor of IT ( which has taken me 8 yearsdistance ed as I worked in the field and I will graduate from in May) I learned JAVA. Most of what I do now is Java as I am a Senior Analyst Programmer for the Lands Department and write mapping software for the web.. but it's all cool.

So tell me AJ do you miss it?

Well done on your commitment to Cohens

Connie

AJ,

There it is! All good things come to those who have the patience to wait. We both knew it was coming and we were only 1 day apart! Your 4 week total is much better than mine (well I've got another 2 weighins but for me I doubt 1.5 kg!). At your current rate, we will both be reaching our respective goals around the same time.

Good going at the indian restuarant. It gets easier and easier to say no doesn't it.
