Hi M&N - welcome back!

Have I told you how much I love NZ? [Mind you I've been there once, just the South Isl., for a week ] The nature is glorious, the people - OMG, the apples - the crunchiest ever! ! Three days after arriving we wanted to buy a house there!

I'm a city girl and always have been (not even grand parents in the country ) but we havefarm vacations now and then and absolutely love it.

I can only imagine how green, fresh and lovely it is around you at the moment.

I hear you about small movement in the right direction on the scales!

Take care!

Hi Kenga, I am glad you loved NZ ! It really is a very beautiful place and of course you came to the right Island Sorry North Islanders your Island is lovely as well and Stewart Island is gorgeous. I would love to see a lot more of Australia, who knows, maybe hubby and I will. The distance to drive to get anywhere is unreal and your wildlife is amazing.Your drivers are, for the great majority, very courteous.
Yes the small movements on the scale could be a bit of a downer if we let them but hey they are in the right direction and a big one could hit at any moment right ? We will keep trying hard eh!
It is lovely you can get to visit a farm sometimes. We love the country and do not want to retire to town.We built ourselves a little home on our farm and whichever of our children is leasing the land they live in the big house. Yes, Lindsay and I did.He is very clever and I just try hard .We had the foundation poured, the plumbing done and the brickwork done for us but we did the rest.

You know what - at the moment I'm quite happy with the small consistent movements, even with an 'integration' for a day, or two (or three ) every now and then. I was planning on seeing the scales on a weekly basis but they haven't driven me mad yet (I've forgotten the old battery's episode ) and I just can't wait to jump out of bed and run to them each morning - it gives me a good sense of achievement and reassurance.

Behind each clever man is a VERY CLEVER woman so there you go! J

Hi Deelight ! You taught me well with the copy and paste No problems now with that, what you need to teach me now are your weight loss secrets You are flying with your losses ! Super well done.

Hi Bronnie, thanks and I will go and study on this photo thing

Hi kenga, Good for you forgetting about the battery problem and being willing to see smaller losses sometimes.Yes, I too look forward to seeing the scales in the morning.

Hi everyone, I thought I would post here about yogurt thickeners just in case it gets missed in the general discussion area. Our yoghurt called De Winkle has Locust Bean gum in it.It is also known as Carob gum or E410 and it is extracted from the seeds of the Carob tree.It is used as a thickener and gelling agent and I wondered if anyone knows if this is okay? I haven't been able to get my clinic yet about this but I will keep trying. It is not listed on the carton but I noticed after blending the yoghurt and mango together that on sitting for a short while it thickened so I rang the company, who were very helpful, and was told it has this gum in it so I Googled the gum and that is what I found.Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.Thanks.

Hi Panda, thank you!. It feels great to have got there, now to complete the next goal and that is to get under 62. I do feel much lighter these days and it sure is good.

Hi Bronnie, yes we do have some good yoghurt Cyclops does not have anything added and it is thick because they reduce the milk down before it is made.Thank you for your very kind offer of yoghurt assistance but it is not needed If we ever get to go back to Australia I will call on your help for a list of right Cohen friendly foods that one can buy in your country

Hi BB, thank you and to be sure your turn will come to be half way then three quarters then finished! You just have to stay steady and keep going.I will go and see how you are doing in your diary. All the very best for your journey.

Hi M&N I bought the Cyclops on your recommendation - especially as you said it was sweet enough for you. I certainly found it tasty enough but preferred it with a few drops of sweetener (I save my fruit for later in the day as I can survive the first fews hours ok). I can't answer your thickener question though.
I have returned to Anchor Symbio (green lid 0.3fat) and god!! it has only 53 cals per100gr!!! How can I manage not to feel hungry by mid morning???????- must be magic yoghurt. I do add a few drops of sweetener to it.

Hi M&N,

Aww, you just brought back some FAVE memories of NZ with this :-
Quote:
it is thick because they reduce the milk down before it is made.
(TMI alert) My thoughts immediately turned to "Reduced Cream" which I LOVE with peaches, or pears..... OMG, drool !! Verboten on Cohens, but........ I've never found it anywhere but NZ - what is the rest of the world missing? (TMI disabled)

Hope you've settled with a yoghurt that suits,

Koh

Hi Koh. great to hear from you ! No reduced cream anywhere but NZ ? What is their problem? Reduced cream and Maggi Onion soup mix is the only dip I love and the poor world can't have it Such a shame
The yoghurt problem for me is settled with Cyclops but I have a friend who eats the De Winkel one and I haven't been able to sort out if the thickener in it is bad or not.

Hey there M&N, found your diary! I had been so busy going through the other new diaries but then decided to go look for the people who had been encouraging me. So here I am and there you are!

How awesome to be halfway to your goal.

I haven't tried any yoghurt yet as dairy doesn't agree with me, but cos the cheese is such a small amount I have tried that and been pleased that I have not had any ill effect. Might brave the yoghurt at some stage.

Going to go and see if I can figure out who I am 'following' after reading something about that earlier in your diary.
