Hi AJ - nice losses and great new do - looks fab hon. I'll be interested to see if the eggs make any difference. I started on eggs and after two months I couldn't face another egg and switched to yoghurt. Perhaps I should switch back again for something different. Though I'm looking forward to having blueberries in yoghurt soon.

I hope the losses continue and the stress eases up!

Cheers
Irene

My NYF Diary
Cool Day 7, Week 30

Down 100 gms on yesterday but still up 100 gms on my low. Driving around yesterday was a bit stressful, and not enough toilet stops. I'm expecting a quiet day today, so may have another drop tomorrow to finish the week.

I'm planning on spending a good part of today reading up on my new Thermomix (http://thermomix.com.au/ for anyone who hasn't seen my previous references to it) and discovering what's in my kit. I cooked porridge for my husband in it this morning. He said it tasted better than usual. It really seems to do a great job of cooking, based on our two meals so far; possibly because the temperature is so accurate. My husband is looking through everything as I'm typing this. He's as interested in it as I am.

Thanks for stopping by, Honeybuns, Irene and anyone reading this.

Thanks you, Honeybuns. I've gone a bit more blonde than I would like, but otherwise like what's been done.

It might be worth trying eggs again, Irene. Whatever the reason, I had a big drop two days after changing to eggs, and this will be a better week than I've had in a while, and may be even better if I get some more tomorrow morning. It could just be the change of food that's done it. Whatever, a big move like that is just what you need to get that frog to jump.

Have a lovely, stress free, day everyone.

AJ

Hi AJ, As a hairdresser myself I love your new do.....Funny you know I have done alot of peoples hair in my time and many who are carrying a bit of extra weight seem to be afraid of cutting their hair off, myself included!!!! I think we can hide behind our hair..yours is lovely cropped in around your face, very flattering...I am planning a huge makeover myself when I'm done!!!!!!!

Great job on the loss this week!!!!

Default Love the Hair!

Hi AJ

The new do looks great. I agree with Jenny. I always dream about getting my hair cut off but not till I'm thin!! Funny isn't it. Mind you I once went from long bleached platinum hair to a flat top (it was the '80s!) At first the hairdresser refused to do it but I told him I'd just go elsewhere to get it done so he relented. I wanted to look like Elvis when he was in the army! Took me ages to grow my hair back.

I also agree with you about "normal overweight". I was wearing some clothes yesterday that I haven't worn for many years and I thought to myself...I'm not fat anymore, a bit overweight yes but not even as overweight as most.

Also I've started a new challenge, more for support than anything else really called Romping it in to Refeed, for those of us on the last part of our journey. You're welcome to join in if you want to, even though you have less than 10kg to lose. Mind you you're so busy posting on the forum you might not have time for another entry!

x

Looking terrific with your new hairstyle, AJ!
At least you won't have to worry about your hair for the wedding, it will look as good as the rest of you!!

The thermomix sounds like it must be really easy to use, as it makes meals so quickly! Sounds ideal for today's busy world.

Hope you've lost your gain from yesterday and some!!

Hugz

My NYF Diary
Cool Day 1, Week 31

No change from yesterday. I'm just a tad disappointed today as I thought I might have had some loss this morning. Hopefully, a big loss over the weekend. I have had some good losses on my measurements, particularly some of my problem areas. DH commented this morning that it was the first time he'd noticed that my upper arms are significantly smaller. My thigh and upper hip area have both had good losses. Total for my main measurements is 4 cm and for the other measurements I take also 4 cms.

Yesterday was fairly quiet, spent mostly at home. I cooked my lunch soup in the Thermomix (my recipe, needed more time cooking), and had steamed Asian fish, steamed vegetables and steamed rice for DH, all cooked at the same time using the Thermomix. The Asian fish had a herb mix spread on it including ginger, lemongrass, chili and coriander roots. Normally these are difficult to grind up, but so easy in Thermomix. Today also should be quiet, with gym and shopping, then nothing (so far), and a fairly quiet weekend planned.

Thanks for calling by, Jenny, LouLou, Shax, Vee and anyone reading this.

I normally leave my hair to the hairdresser, Jenny. My usual hairdresser has left it longer than I would have preferred recently. I think perhaps we don't like to have moon faces with little hair around them. I really like what he did the other day, not sure that I can replicate it though (actually, quite sure I can't).

I had exactly that feeling a while back, LouLou. I'm 'normal' again. However, I can still find lots of areas of fat that I'd like to reduce more, so I'm very happy to keep going further. Stay with it and you'll be more pleased the further you go. I've joined your challenge, although you are right about not having time to post. I seldom have time left to update my Week by Week thread. Thanks for your contributions.

Thanks, Shax. Nice to see you've dropped by. We need an xxx was here button.

No loss, Vee. Hopefully, I will see something tomorrow. Yes, I'm confident that this hairdresser (whom I used to see years ago) will do an excellent job of my hair for the wedding. The Thermomix is amazing, but takes more getting used to than I had expected. I suppose that's not surprising, given that it's such a versatile piece of equipment. It's supposed to be useful for busy families, easy to cook up a meal instead of going out for take-away. I think that the $14 a week to pay it off option is intended to be similar in price to a take-away meal.

Have a lovely, stress free, fat burning day everyone.

AJ

Hi AJ

Just popped in to catch up on diaries and wanted to congratulate you on your loss way to go !!!

The new hair looks great, really suits your lovely face. It's always nice to have a new hair do, especially when it turns out wonderful.

Hope all goes well today. The thermomix sounds interesting, must go check them out. Take care

Default Hey there honey...

Just thought I would pop in and say g-day...and of course thank you for your post. The new job is a shift by shift thing...just casual filling in at different clinics...it is 9-5.30 though so a very civilised way to go rather than the current shifts I am doing. I won't be leaving my old job yet...still holding out for the perfect position to come up. Big love to you and hears hoping you get that big loss soon...it's in the post honey...in the post. Love and stuff

Glad to hear you have had some good cm losses in those problem areas! As I think we have similar shapes, I'm looking forward to my problem areas really shrinking, and they haven't really been doing such a great job in the first half of this journey! So I guess it's going to be 'watch out' during the second half!

Glad you are enjoying your thermomix so much and that the meals are turning out so nice and tasty! It makes it so worthwhile if you find it useful and actually use it!!

Sending you kilo dropping thoughts so that you have a great drop over the weekend!!

Giving away perfectly good clothes! Well, listen to this... as much as I am so happy that I'm counting down the weight! My wedding gown was ordered long before I started the diet and it can only be altered down "one size" I fear I will be less.. (well dont fear at all.. just in relation to this dress) SO.. I will see the bridal place this week, lets see what they say!! What will I do? Buy another one.. oh dear!!!

Cool Day 2, Week 31

Irreeennnneee!!! Are you still here? I'm back on the Island. The place is looking deserted, and rather seedy, although I see it's freshly cleaned. Where are all the party goers? I've dusted through the lighthouse, removed the spiders and polished the mirrors and light. Now I'm looking for a mocktail but there doesn't seem to be anyone staffing the bar.

Okay, same again this morning. Normally I would have had a loss yesterday, and if not yesterday then a good loss today. This is definitely a plateau point for me. I maintained at this weight around 1989 for a while, so I think I have some stubborn fat to get moving again. Hopefully, it will start to move soon and I can get off the Island again. I have my boat at the lighthouse, just need a bit of sustenance first.

Yesterday was quiet and relaxed, no pressure, just like the previous day. Normally I would have a reasonable drop on at least one of those days, maybe both. I dropped four bags of clothes off at a new (to me) opp shop. DH also did a cleanout at the weekend. I bought two pairs of long pants and two casual tops, all in size 12. Hopefully, I'll be fitting into size 10 by the time I finish.

Today I am going to visit my father, stopping off to discuss wedding cake decoration with future DIL, and collecting my dress material which my son collected from the fabric shop for me. At the moment, it's a beautiful day here, although rain expected later.

Thanks for calling by, Katie, Eden/Eamon, Vee, shell, Angie and anyone reading this.

Thanks, Katie. I'm confident that this hairdresser will have my hair looking great for the wedding. Sometimes I go somewhere locally for a special occasion and then I hate the result. The Thermomix is great, the food out of it tastes better than regular cooking. I don't get so many opportunities to try things out at the moment of course, but I'm using it for my food anyway.

Thanks, Now Eden. I have to confess that I rather like Eamon as a name. Civilised hours sounds good. Being a nurse is a real strain on the system. Future DIL finished at 7 this morning, and starts another 12 hour shift at 7 tonight. No fun at all.

Vee, I'm only now starting to some real differences in some of the problem areas. I think that the last few kilos will make all the difference. It makes sense really, the problem areas are the ones that the fat goes to first when we're putting it on, and continues building there, so of course they are the last to slim down.

Thanks, shell. Not today. I'm still going with the egg for breakfast. I think this previous maintenance point is causing the holdup.

Angie, I'm not going to be wearing those clothes again. It's the first time I've ever lost weight and given away my too big clothes, so liberating. You do have a problem with your wedding dress though. How long is it until the wedding? Maybe another dressmaker could make the alterations (at a price) even if the shop can't do it for you. Perhaps the shop would give you a discount on a new dress, as they can probably still sell the one you have ordered. I do think that the bride should be happy about everything she is wearing on the day, as she is the centre of attention. If you are not comfortable about something, it will put a shadow on your day.

Have a lovely, stress free, day everyone.

AJ

Hi AJ,
Here's wishing you good scales for
the morning and I too have bought
things in the next size down, I have
about 6-8 size 12's and I can get them
on although a little snug, and I will buy
just a couple of size 10's from the op shop
just to see if at the end which is only 15.1
away that I may fit in to them that will be
a strange feeling. Good luck with those funny
little scales.
Cheers Jenni

Hi AJ

Ah yes the island. Do a search for "plateau" on this forum and you'll know you're not alone, it's quite reassuring in a way. But I was extremely pissed off about it last week that's for sure, you are handling this more graciously than I did!

I hope you have a nice drop tomorrow, you deserve it.

My NYF Diary
Cool Day 3, Week 31

I motored away from Plateau Island, reached the edge of the reef and the engine coughed, spluttered and died. Now I'm trying to fix it with the boat rolling around and I'm starting to feel queasy.

The scales reluctantly gave up another 200 gms this morning. In four weighings I saw 73.0 once and 72.8 three times. This gets me past my next mini-goal of having lost five stone since I started. My next mini goal is normal BMI, which is also the weight DH was when I started. He's lost about five kilos since we started eating Cohen food and his tummy no longer sticks out above his belt.

I had quite a good day yesterday. I tried on a leather jacket that I used to wear when I was around my goal weight. It fits if I was to wear a shirt under it, but not with winter clothes. Even better, my arms fit into it again. Stopped off for half an hour and discussed cakes and cars with DS and future DIL, then spent an hour and a half with my father and brother. DH has been making a DVD of old photos for Dad, and I took up what's been done so far and showed him. He was really good yesterday, took an interest in the slide show, and joined in the conversation, just the way he used to do. I had about nine hours sleep last night, much better than the 5-6 hours I usually manage.

Thanks for stopping by, Tara, Jenni, LouLou and anyone reading this.

This was a plateau on the way up, Tara, so it's also a plateau on the way down. As Connie said well back in my diary, the remaining fat's been there a long time, and is really good friends with my body. It takes a bit of effort to get it to start moving. This is the first time I've felt so confident about never going back to these weights that I've given clothes away.

Jenni, 15 kilos is about 2 1/2 dress sizes. It's likely that you will be fitting into at least some size 8s by the time you finish, and should be comfortable in size 10s.

LouLou, last week (or is it now the week before?) there were an amazing number of members who reported really small losses of a few hundred grams in their diaries. I wonder if there's some reason for so many people slowing down at the same time. I've not seen it like that before.

Have a lovely, stress free, day, everyone.

AJ

Good morning Aj
I listened to medical information evening for Drs a while back and the speaker said that when you lose weight and plateau then lose more weight, it is the plateau that people are more likely to return to than the orginal weight. I know you have no intention of putting the weight back on, but I thought it was interesting as you seem to be experiencing the same thing in reverse.

Default Morning AJ...how goes it?

Glad to hear you dad is settling into his new home...it can take a while sometimes...so he is doing remarkably well. What a lovely idea to make the slide show of the family. Nice work sister. I have to say that I am intrigued by this thermomix thing you keep talking about...I might have to google it and find out some info. I love little cooking gadgets...wierd really as I hate all other forms of technology...hmmmmmmm...I wonder if that says anything about me and my weight struggles. I will have to ponder that.

Well I just thought I would pop in and see how things are going. Hooray for getting into that old jacket. Love your work honey...hears to it getting to big and soon. Good luck on getting down into the normal BMI range. My next mini goal is the same. I only have another couple of hundred grams to go till I get there...I really hope I do make it to the lower end of the Cohens goal range befor the end of refeed...it would be such an amazing rush and lift for me. Not that I need much more of a lift than being a 70's boy...it could thrust me up into the stratusphere...not much oxygen up there so I don't know if that would be a good thing.

Anywho...big huggles from little old me. Love and stuff

Eden

Hi AJ,
I am glad you got a loss, it all adds up! (I wouldn't call it a plateau!)

You are getting closer to the 60's, only a couple of weeks away (hopefully sooner!)
You must be so pleased getting getting closer to your goal.
Have a great day and I hope you get another decent loss tomorrow (another 800g would be sensational!)
