Hi AJ
I am up to week 30 Day 1 and seem to be stuck as i havent had a drop in the last 3 days. I didnt weigh over the weekend and when I did this morning their still wasnt a drop. Help me as I have been following your diary for a whle now as you seem to have to loose around the same as me you mentioned something about stuck on an island but you have left it again, you left me behind!!!! Give me a push please!!!! I only have 5 and a bit kg's to go and I cant wait just seems to be going on forever now. Although I am a bit scared about starting refeed, sounds a bit daunting. Anyway I hope you had a good drop overnight I know I did'nt. Have a great day. |

Day 4, Week 31
Still stuck on Plateau Island. No change today. I think this can happen close to goal, and I'm hoping for some of the big losses that also seem to happen close to goal. Not to worry, I know it will keep going down, albeit slower than I would like.
Yesterday turned into a busier day than I'd anticipated. I had planned to do some cleaning, tidying, sorting of papers and reading for the Thermimix course tomorrow. I had a call in the morning from a client wanting help. As I have full days for the next three days I said I would see him in the afternoon. Shortly after I had a call from the winery owner who had just sat down to breakfast in Melbourne, phoned the restaurant and discovered that one of her two wait staff had called in ill. She asked if I could go down for a couple of hours and do tastings in case it got busy. I agreed to that, took DH down to have lunch as payment. I'm not sure what I interrupted, but the young woman who was the only wait person there couldn't have been cooler to me. She clearly was not at all happy about me being there. At least with me there the porch got swept (by me), and the bar area was tidied up (by me) and looked much more presentable. Anyway, all that took most of the day, and we have the house looking reasonably tidy and presentable too. Thanks for calling by, Louise, AE, shell, Tara, Mel and anyone reading this. Louise, pausing at the up plateaus seems to be something that happens on the way down too. I've noticed it at the main points I remember from the way up, and from previous diets on the way down. It doesn't take a long time, just seems to be a bit longer at those points than in between. Thanks, AE. All the best for further falls so you get nicely into normal BMI before the end of refeed. I hope tomorrow repeats last Tuesday, shell. If it doesn't, so far I've only lost 200 gms since then. Definitely slowed down this week. I hope it gets moving again soon. I haven't had a stressful week, so this is not part of my regular pattern. The only explanation I have is that this was a maintenance point on the way up. Thanks, Tara. Not today, but I know it will happen. Mel, I'm sending you a big, big push. I hope others reading this will do the same. I've drifted back to Plateau Island. I think from other diaries that the last ten kilos or so losses can slow right down some weeks, but also people often experience bigger than usual losses close to the end. I keep hoping that they will eventuate too. Just stick with it and we'll both get there eventually. Most important, accept whatever happens and don't stress about it. Stressing does slow you down because it releases hormones that hold onto fat. It does get a bit frustrating being so close and not moving, but we just have to accept what our bodies want to do. You're almost there. It stands to reason that losses might slow down a bit now. Have a lovely, stress free day everyone. AJ

My god AJ do you ever stop...
If I kept the kind of schedual you did I would be in an early grave with stress and exhaustion. Cricky woman! Meanwhile I have ever faith that things will start powering along again befor to long. My weight loss slowed right down in the last 10kg as well. But over the course of the 10kgs it even's out...It may be your body starting to freak out that there just arent many fat stores left and it's trying to hold on to avoid starvation...who knows...hang in there my sweet. Your doing everything right...you could try lowing down a touch though and perhapse put your feet up. Big love and huge fat melting huggles for you...

I wonder if it would make a difference to change your meals around a bit and give your body a surprise. I remember a dietitian saying its not good to eat the same things all the time and good to change it around sometimes, just as they also recommend for exercise

The photo from tonight's Geelong meet is below. From left and back row first are Nibblet, AJ, Becca, Shrinking_moi and fit girl.
Today has been busy for me. The demo for my Thermomix went well, given by the consultant who gave the earlier one I attended. One of the two women I had invited bought one, the other couple were most impressed, but I think are not likely to buy one. I sat through almost three hours with the others sampling sorbet, hommus, bread rolls, beetroot salad, risotto and lemon custard and sipped on my water. This afternoon I met with other Geelong Cohenites. From there, I went to the Neighbourhood Watch meeting then home for a late dinner. Tomorrow I have the class (in Melbourne, so an early start for me) and going out to an Indian restaurant for dinner (with chicken nuggets). Thanks for calling by, Sharlene, AE, hexi, Louise, Mette and anyone reading this. Thanks, Sharlene, and I hope that push works tomorrow. Thanks, AE. I'm sitting back in an armchair with my feet up right now. My son calls this my 'office'. Just remember, I don't have the social life you do. Thanks for stopping by, hexi. Yes, Thermomix is on the way for me. If you send me your email address I'll forward the details to you. Louise, a week ago shell suggested I try eggs for breakfast instead of yoghurt. I've been doing that now for just over a week. After day 2 I had a loss of 800 gms, then nothing until day 8 when I had another 200 gms. As I have an early start in the morning, I might try yoghurt again. Thanks, Mette. Not long to go in weight terms, just wish it would go faster. I won't have time to post in the morning, so I hope you all have good losses tomorrow and a relaxed day. AJ

Day 5, Week 31
No change again this morning. I was up rather earlier than usual, so would probably have seen a drop of a couple of hundred grams if I had weighed at the usual time. Tomorrow morning will be earlier also, but not as early as today.
The more I see of the Thermomix the more impressed and excited I am. It's such a pity that I can't eat much of the food at this time. Even food I can cook in it isn't always suitable, as it can be difficult to get all of it out of the bowl. DH has been eating hommus as a snack. With the long days I'm having this week I'm not getting to many diaries. There are so many now that it takes days to catch up again if I get behind by even a day. Hope to catch up with everyone by the weekend. Thanks for calling by, Angie. I hope your meeting with the consultant goes well, and look forward to reading about it. I won't have time to post tomorrow morning, back again tomorrow night. Have a lovely day tomorrow, everyone. AJ

AJ - your in double digits, great news! I had the afternoon off today, so I have been trying to write in a few more diaries! Unfornately I had to see the dentist to get the bonus time off, so it won't be happening too often!
It is hard cooking normal food whilst on Cohen's isn't it - I am a mad baker, which I love and miss so much, so I have still been making cakes for kids birthdays and for friends when I'm asked, my friends kids think it's great though - they get to be official taste testers! I wish you a big loss soon! And thanks for dropping by my dairy, your support is much apperciated! Jess |

Hi AJ
I was making zucchini hash browns this morning (grated zucchini, egg, pulverised cripbreads, salt, pepper and garlic powder, fried in a non-stick pan...yum) and I found myself wondering whether it would be easier to make them in a thermomixer!!! Your diary has made it into my everyday thoughts! I hope things calm down a bit for you soon and that you get to sleep in, then those losses will start to stack up again I'm sure. I'm home sick today, I don't usually get sick but my throat is too sore to ignore. And I've taken a headache tablet for the first time in over three months, I might need another one soon. I checked the Health thread for medication we're allowed to take and have decided to go with Andy's advice, no throat lozenges just lots of fluid and rest. Hmmm lots of fluid and rest, isn't that what Dr Cohen suggests anyway. It's all good. x Loulou

Hey AJ,
Sorry I haven't been in for a while - The snow keeps rendering our phone out of order (we have a satellite phone cause we can't get a landline here yet) so I only get on at work mostly. Anyway enough excuses, I have been reading and following, just not posting. You are so close now AJ, it must be getting pretty exciting, hope your week is exceptional and you blow the last bit away! Heres a big love shove for you to help it move Connie

Hi AJ
Hope this last part of your journey is not too tough and not too many visits to plateau island! Glad your thermomix demo went well. Pity about you not getting a cut of the commission for the machine sold. Doesn't really sound fair. I love the pic of you all at the Geelong meet! You all look wonderful! It's hard to imagine you all part of a lifestyle change forum!! Vee |

Great pic of the meet AJ! What a table of hotties you must've been!
Yeah, maybe you should try shaking up your meals a little? Try having lunch for breakfast and breakfast for lunch? I'm like you - close to major goals my body seems to freeze up.. no drops for days and days! Like you I found varying breakfast with egg instead of yoghurt got me a good drop for a day or two, but not for long. Maybe you just need a bigger "shock" to the system? Ah well, just a thought! I'm waiting for you over in refeed! Can't wait for you to get there! *hugs*

Hi AJ,
I don't know how you manage to get to so many diaries. I find I use up hours just browsing. I think you should do something different to stir things up and get things moving. "If you keep doin what you bin doin, you'll keep gettin what you bin gettin". Often works for me in all sorts of areas of my life. If you want something different you need to take action of some sort. Easy to say, not so easy to do in practice. Well enough philosophising... Have a great big loss day.

Day 6, Week 31
Down 400 gms this morning. Also, trouble spots are melting away, and the tape measure is down too.
Last night we went to dinner at an Indian restaurant. My friend opposite was trying to convince me that I had lost enough and should stop, first time this has happened to me. Her husband was trying to get me to relax a bit and try some wine, also a first. I haven't lost more than 32 kilos only to blow it right near the end. Off to the winery now. There's a group of ladies coming in at 10 for coffee and cake, and I'm going to help out with that. Back this evening, and hopefully catch up a bit on diaries. I didn't get to anyone else last night. I hope everything is okay for everyone. Have a lovely, stress free, day. AJ

Another loss for you
Congatulations on the loss Annabelle. It's all downwards, which is great. I was doing a quick calc to see how you would be going for your son's wedding (late Oct?) and figured that you might not quite be on Refeed (depends on what happens though) but you will be so close that I am sure you can afford to relax for the night. Then definitely on maintenance for the Christmas period - think of the joy and freedom!
