Re: What they don't tell you - hair loss & other medical issues.
How is the programme working for you? Why would you allow another's experience to put you off? Kylie, if it is working for you then that is all you need to be concerned with. If it stops working for you or you are getting side effects that you don't like - then please, please, speak with your clinic. They can look at what you are doing and advise changes which may help. This programme is very finely balanced and it doesn't take much, which we may be doing unwittingly, to destabilise it. let your body and the programme be your guides. Not someone else's fears or experiences. keep up the good work - sounds like it might be working quite well for you. Shanara

Re: What they don't tell you - hair loss & other medical issues.
Hang in mate - its just a forum - not gospel or fact - you are reading some ones else's opinions and journey - and whilst some people say things it could also be lots of other influences in their life that is causing the dry skin - water, amount of chemical in the water , pollens or dehydration after a day in the sun - and as for hair loss - much the same - change of life style stress levels and the list goes on - and same with all the other negitives. If you dig deep enough and look hard with anything you do in life you sure will find a reason not to get on and "Just do it"
I personally lost 66 kg and a total of 80 kgs and never had any problem and in fact am so healthy that my doctor told me if 5% of his patentents were as healthy as me he would be happy. Even refering to Cohen's as a deit is a negitive - you are telling yourself that its not a lifestyle change to make you healthy but a drag and a pain which a deit is - try being positivge and focused - ity helps your mindset and your health - thats what your doing - trying to be healthy and happy. You are making a lifestyle change - for you. But of corse its allways your own personel decision and how you want to read it - read it negitivly and thats what it will be - look at the postives in life and thats what it will be - postive and benificuial to No one in the world - YOU. Dont throw the towl in Kylie - Just get healthy !!!!!!!!! Andy |

Re: What they don't tell you - hair loss & other medical issues.
Hi all,
As a point of interest, I googled "How many hairs on the female head?" - the concensus seemed to be between 100,000 and 150,000 (different coloured hairs have more than others). Now, distressing though losing hair might be, in the big wide world, 15 strands per day is not going to have one go bald any time soon !! An example:- 1. Let's take the lower number and say there is 100,000 hairs 2. Let's say you were losing 20 hairs a day (I haven't heard anyone quantify any more than 15 - most just say "heaps".....) To go completely bald would then take 5,000 days (around 15 years !!) At that rate, even if you did the program for 12 months, you would have only lost ~7% of your hair. 93% of it is still attached. And 93% is WAY better than just a PASS mark !! Umm, is this really any kind of problem? I suspect, if it is, it is more a perception (thus mental) problem than a physical one. Sure, the low calorie Plan can affect some people in this way (while others claim better, stronger hair while on Plan) - but it strikes me it is having more of an affect on the psyche than on the physical body (or the "head of hair"). Of course, I may not fully understand either - so, as always, am interested in any thoughts re my comments, Koh

Re: Hair Loss
Hi Guys, my hair has also started to fall out, i have spoken to my consultant about it and they dont believe it has anything to do with the program, however i have always had very good hair. but since starting this program my hair has been falling out, my nails are brittle, and i suffer from headaches, and dizzy spells, has anyone else experience this??? its really starting to freak me out, and they wont start my refeed until i lose another 7kg, i have currently lost 22kg, i believe that my body is trying to tell me to stop losing weight.

Re: Hair Loss
I have found that in a lot of instances where one gets close to the upper end but over 2kg away, it quite often means that the height upon application for the programme was given as opposed to actually being measured. (I was not measured either.) This has resulted in giving a height that is too tall/short (like measuring height early in the morning or late in the evening (could be 1.5cm difference). An couple of cm's can increase/decrease your weight range by 2 or 3 kg. So, if you are having feeling that you are ready for refeed, be sure of two things. One, you are not just wishing the programme is over and two, check with you clinic to see what height was recorded by the clinic and ensure that it was accurate. Additionally, your shoe size has to be accurate as well as a half size will also cause a couple of kg difference - I bring this one up only because no woman wasn't to have big feet so subconsciously might drop the half-size out of habit? It might be good to check the accuracy of these two items with the clinic.
Or you might be ready.

Re: Hair Loss
Are you taking a multi vitamin? Or if you are maybe you need to take 2.. one in the morning & one at lunch time.. I felt REALLY off when I had about 7 to 4 to go & the extra vitamin really helps..

Re: Hair Loss
Thank you for posting this information girls, I was starting to get a little paniced at the amount of hair that I find on the bathroom floor and particulary the clumps that come out when I wash my hair. I am glad this is relatively "normal" for the plan and not something wrong with me. xx

Re: Hair Loss
I'm a qualified hairdresser.
Hair is made from protein. Excess protein. Consider what your body is going through and just where it intends to put the protein to work while you are on the plan, and how it will get there. In my professional opinion there are few people who care for their scalp in the way it should be. Your hair WILL suffer if you don't look after your scalp. Here is information I share with my clients at work Jo The scalp should be thoroughly brushed every day, (before wetting hair) twice a day, for the length of time it takes you to sing the National Anthem. This applies to very long hair and very short hair, especially to crew cuts (i.e.: #2 clipper all over) or balding heads! A good quality brush with flexible bristles should be used. Blow drying brushes are not satisfactory, neither is a comb. Effective brushing WILL NOT straighten perms. Duration of this exercise is at least 2 minutes. The scalp is vulnerable to: • Natural oils • Perspiration. • Loose hairs. • Dead skin cells which accumulate on the scalp. • Accumulation of dust particles • Hairstyling aids • Environmental debris ( eg. grease, from work) By brushing the hair, you will remove the above mentioned from the scalp, which offers a breeding ground for disease-producing bacteria. Failing to do so, could in turn, lead to scalp disorders, such as itchy scalp, dry scalp, flaky scalp, dull/dry hair, offensive scent and HAIR LOSS. Effective brushing of the hair will: • Make the scalp feel great! Tingly when done correctly • Increase the blood supply to the scalp, promoting healthy scalp and proper circulation. • Active circulation of the scalp, incidentally brings nourishment to the hair follicles. The only true way to ‘FEED’ the hair. • Activate the sebaceous (oil) glands. • Disperse natural oils down the length of the hair, encouraging shine. (Remember! Natural oil IS the best conditioner.) Care must be taken when brushing long hair, not to ‘whip’ it, as to cause split ends. Remember, to concentrate on brushing the scalp, more than the hair. NEVER NEVER rip into the hair. Always work knots out by reverse teasing the way up the hair strands. Once the knots are out, focus on the scalp. Daily hair loss is an expected and natural occurrence. Very short haired clients should remember to be gentle on the scalp. There could be a tendency to be rough, thus causing injuries such as scratches or even bleeding! For hair and scalp analysis, advice on purchasing the correct brush or for a demonstration on effective brushing, see YOUR HAIRDRESSER. Hope this helps? |

Re: Hair Loss
In any type of hair loss is due to mainly loss of vitamin and nutrients at the root of hair. Actually, when blood circulation and the nourishment to hair get less its starts gets detached from skin. You must acquire proper nutritional diet like vitamin A and C along with proscar solution.

Re: Hair Loss
Yeah, great info shared by you all people. I never had an issue with my hair but Hair loss (alopecia) can affect just your scalp or your entire body, and it can be temporary or permanent. It can be the result of heredity, hormonal changes, medical conditions, or a normal part of aging. Anyone can lose hair on their head, but it's more common in men.
