Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Ladybird has made it clear from her very first post that this is a tough love environment and that if you deviate, you will get a VKA. The aim of the club was that we are accountable to ourselves and each other. You are not in "exile" if you deviate - you just can't qualify to be the biggest loser if what you are losing is deviation weight from the previous week, so that it is fair to the others who have not deviated. Various people at various times have totally agreed that this tough love and accountability to themselves and each other is what they need to help them through the last stage. Diaries are very personal and tough love is not always well-received there. However, when you sign up for tough love (eg: joining this club) you have to expect it and for people to tell you what they think. Often in the forum when people deviate, everyone weighs in and says "it's ok, don't worry about it". That is not what this club is about and that has been clear from the start. In this club if you deviate, people - not just Ladybird - but also me, and all the other members - are going to tell you it like it is. It is entirely up to you to post in here if you deviate. If you don't say anything in your diary, no-one will know. If you put it in your diary but choose not to say anything, even if people realise, no-one is going to give you a VKA without you coming in here for it and saying you deviated. I see it as a way of saying "ok, I stuffed up. Now, how do I get back on track?" If you come in here and you confess, in return you get hopefully: - a better solution than the one you took (eg: don't eat non-plan food or increase your portion size if you are hungry. That is going to stuff up your refeed. Instead call your clinic and talk to them about it. If you just can't get hold of them or it is after hours, better to eat an extra cracker or piece of fruit until you can get hold of them....) - some advice or inspiration to help you to get back on the bus and stay there until you reach goal. What you won't get here is someone holding your hand and saying it was ok to intentionally deviate and I did not think that was what anyone here expected or wanted. Essentially this club is the boot camp of the forum, to help us all get through those last 10kgs. We are all each others drill sergeants who will pull each other into line and call it like we see it if we step out of line. But once we are back "home" in our own diaries, the drill sergeants are absent. I am thinking of renaming this thread to indicate that it is the tough love/no deviation tolerated one. I have an idea to start another thread for others who don't want the tough love/VKA but just want to connect with people with a similar amount to lose - maybe even for those who are starting at similar weights so they can connect for their whole journey... I just need to run it past the other mods/admins first to see how feasible that is... jlou Edit: I have created the other 10kg (non- tough love, no VKAs) thread so that everyone has a place where they feel comfortable: http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthr...130#post280130 Will look into the ones for other start weights when able.

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Hi all
Jlou you kicked my **** whereas I didn't think it was a big deviation, a deviation it was but not a big one. If I had eaten a block of chocolate or gone off Cohen's for a day that I would call a Big deviation. I have done well without deviating but I felt like having a drink so I had 4 in 3 days. Nothing Tuesday nothing today. It was just something I did. In no way have I had a food deviation intentionally. My last blood test said I had deviated but I don't know what with. I have been very regimental with myself since I started in December even though I am a slow loser I haven't given up. I have also been very proud of myself for what I have achieved and what I still will achieve. LB I have absolutely no regrets for having a couple of drinks whatsoever, I will not be bashing myself over the head about it and I will just get on with the job at hand of losing weight. Bronnie

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Ok, I think Im on the same page as you Jlou and LB. Are you talking about a big deviation in the way of weight loss? I have actually put on 400gms since Monday. I was thinking your saying big deviation was that I drank alcohol. Hopefully Ive got it now. I will change my ticker up.

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Hi guys I wasnt trying to upset anyone. I was just going to quietly withdraw when I realised this thread was not what I had thought, but then I read the bit about please let us know your reasons if you do.
I had joined following this entry in my diary "Just wanted to invite you along to the 10KG or less club. It is in shallneges / sprints and listed under 10KG - Lady bird has set it up as a closer support to those heading towards refeed land. You may have some extra hints for us as it seems the weight is now not moving as fast as it did in the beginning. Anyhow you are welcome to join us. " I will copy what I put in my diary "I withdrew from the 10kg club as I can not achieve their expectations within my lifestyle. They have a tough love strategy towards deviation and that is fine for those who wish it, I did not realize this when I sighed up - must say noone is tougher on me than myself. I do not drink or get stuck into the chocolate in the mini bar but my meat is not always the correct weight and sometimes they will send me the wrong green vegetable etc on room service, whilst not ideal I figure Im best to live with it and just move on and do the best I can. I cant take tins of tuna to business dinner etc as it would be totally unaccepted, but I dont drink and I dont eat the dessert, manage to avoid the pastas etc. I continue to lose weight, and I dont binge. I have a system that is working very well for me and that is sustainable in the long term which is the most important thing to me.. " I travel so much that no matter how much I lose Im sure there will be some minor deviation every week that will elliminate me from this challenge. I continue to sustain good losses and for me that is why I am here and it is the most important thing for me. When I first joined cohens I used to try and take part in the deviations free challenges and soon realised it was not obtainable for me. I am 99% cohens but cant quite get to the 100%, which is probably the reality of life and I have accepted that. I suspect many are the same. I have enough other stress in my life without beating myself up over it. I am estatic to be losing as I am! I wish you all nothing but success |

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Louise and Bronnie - Hi
Thanks to your recent posts I believe we are travelling down a good road here (for everyone in the club). Two reasons, firstly Bronnie (and the drinks). For you to be able to say that you have no regrets, have avoided the need to empty the full bottle on subsequent nights, and are back doing your thing without the self "loathing" stuff - which tends to be followed by a full on/full out "oh what the hell" binge, which can last for days, shows the control we are going to need in maintenance. As mentioned earlier I was interested in your rationale and then the mental effect which happily has been "good" for you. We are told that a deviation can cost a week's weight loss (this may be your 400g +), but again you are aware of this and are handling it positively. From my personal experience, 1 biscuit/lolly/chip etc would for me end in a "what the hell" binge for at least a few hrs. Louise - your journey is so like mine. I too am in hotels a lot (or need to eat out). I am really pleased to be able to "manage" on room service food. We can only request steak/chicken/fish etc without sauces or dressing and an undressed salad or specific veg and hope that's what we get. I am pretty good at guestimating the portions, (I have to confess to taking my food scales which is ok for room service but "wanky" in a restaurant). I too leave the mini bar and the goodies alone and don't have desert/breads etc. If this is how we live, this is what we must do and it works. Takes more mental strength so I pat myself on the back for managing with the extra temptations. I have written about taking boiled eggs and celery etc on planes to get through and I often have tins of tuna and asparagus in my bags!! I'm with you - for us this is not deviating. I have withdrawn from a mango challenge as I had to guestimate a couple of meals and obviously this is not Cohen's d free. Where I can, I time meetings etc around my meals and can on some occasions eat earlier or later than a dinner out (where I just have coffee etc). When I say d'fee in this thread I am d'free. In your situation (and when it applies to me or others) we need to say happily d'free or no norty stuff d'free 4 me, which refers to being individually successful in the confines of our work environments. MUST SAY IT WAS EASIER WHEN I HAD MY FLOCK OF MAGIC CHICKENS As always comments from others LOSERS are welcome. Off to post this week's losses. LB x

Well said LB (why can't I find the "Marvellous effort" smilie when I need it????)
Who is up to joining the Mango challenge? It started yesterday but I am thinking it is not too late to get in now.....??? Good motivation if everyone in the club could add a mango to our sigs at this stage of the journey??? One in all in?????? |

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Thanks LB for that. I am actually glad I did it because that has allways been a problem with me, could never have one had to have more. So I am pleased with myself for only having 2 drinks and stopping, I reckon I will be ok in maintenance now.

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Popping in for another weigh in down 800gms (this week) to 56.5kg on day 13 of 19 day refeed...very happy with that! Don't expect anymore losses now as weight should move into maintaining, just reved up the metabolism in the last 13 days which for all you people includes 4 fruit bananas and the like, lots of extra protein and veg, 3 bread, milk and some new protein and new veg coming thick and fast!
Keep going peoples - very exciting stuff

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Hi all
Last week 71.3 this week 71.3 - no difference. I did get down to 70.9 last Saturday but have put back on. I have been taking a fibre drink and eating prunes (5 a day) for BM's which I am totally lacking in. I am hoping I am plateauing not staying same weight because of the fibre drink and the prunes. I have been the same weight since Sunday. Not changing at all. so I just snuk in to not have to sit out for a week. Cheers all and hope you all lost well this week. Bronnie |

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Last week 68kg
current 66.8kg loss 1.2kg bronnie I used coloxyl with senna once which was very effective and is allowed on plan. Only had to use it once and won't affect your losses - Better than dried fruit which are very high in fructose. Hope you get some movement soon! |

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
JL I have tried everything so figured the prunes would be better than taking the coloxy as i would have to take them every day. However if they can be taken everyday or 2nd day I will do that instead of the prunes. I cant see fructose on the pack though.

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Fructose is the natural sugar that I think becomes mire concentrated when fruit is dried eg dried apricots are much sweeter than fresh.
I only had to use the coloxyl (make sure it is with senna so it moves AND softens!!!) for two doses then I was fine. So I would just use it as per the instructions until things move then only use again if things stop moving for say mire than 3 days - bearing in mind it is normal for things not to move daily on cohens (I believe one reason may be because there are less toxins for our body to expel. I remember BMs were always worse after a big night drinking!!! Personally my morning coffee usually does the trick! Oh apples ate high fibre so if you aren't already eat them as your fruit |

Re: 10 KGs CLUB
Bronnie, Kiwi fruit is good too, esp if you eat it WITH the skin. Mango is also another good fibrous fruit (not sure if it is in season where you are though).
