Hi Sam, and a very big welcome to you!
I have just finished my first week - day 8 today - and can say with absolute certainty that this program really WORKS! The forum is so friendly and supportive I am sure you will feel at home in no time - be warned though, it is highly addictive!! Sending positive thoughts your way, Alli |

Re: Hi
Welcome, Sam. You'll find lots of support on here from everyone, but it is nice to have one or two who are at the same stage you are.

Re: Hi
Welcome Sam, I am from Ashburton and have been here for 4 months. It rearly works and you will do well. The first week can be hard, but hold strong to the reason you are doing it. Its rearly important to drink you water daily and I found I hard to read the programe regulary as there would be things I missed. Keeping you diary and this forum rearly helped and also doing goals like joining challanges rearly motivates me

Re: Hi
Hang in there samb, it will get easier. The first week can be rough but it does pass. Are you taking a multi-vitamin and spreading your fruit & crackers throughout the day? I have a timer that goes off in my kitchen (I am a caterer) every 15 mins to remind me to have a drink of water - when I started doing this I found it very easy to make sure I was drinking at least 2.5 litres a day.
I hope things are better for you tomorrow. Andrea |

Re: Hi
The water helps hide the hunger, Sam. It puts something into your tummy and partially tricks it into thinking that it's full (I know it's not exactly perfect).

Re: Hi
Hi samb, firstly congrats on your decision to improve your lifestyle and say good buy to those extra kilos. I am from rangiora and in the same boat as you. Its day 12 for me today and i am feeling pretty good apart from "feeling a little over it already" BUT im determined to succeed so *positive thinking*. According to Cohens i have about 17kilos to loose but if i can achieve my personal goal of 10kilos im happy! I cant see myself being able to eat this way for 3-4mths (im honest) but ill try my very best to stick to it for as long as i can. For the first week i was feeling tired and hungry but it seems to have got better as time goes on. Im also only managing approx 2-2.5lts water a day somethings better than nothing i say especially considering im NOT a water drinker lol. My advice to you is .. do the best you can if you happen to fall off the wagon just jump straight back on asap and dont beat yourself up (were only human) and it takes a while to break a habit I have the biggest sweet tooth so doing cohens and not being able to eat anything sweet is my hurdle i havent deviated ive been tempted but i havent so YAY for me! Good Luck samb i look forward to hearing all about your journey!

Re: Hi
Hi samb,
Good on you for asking !! If you didn't, you may well have just given up - and THAT wouldn't help, would it? Quote:
And yes, I've heard it said that not enough water can/will slow your progress. The trick seems to be "sip it regularly thru a day" rather than an "OMG, I'm one litre short (and you force 1 litre into you in 20 mins) " Quote:
Hang tough, samb - usually by 3 weeks, folks are "singing and dancing" (just read some diaries ) Koh

Just a big happy hushpuppy I haven't "done" Cohens - Asy knows me from way back - she invited me to "take a look" here - I did, loved it, and stayed... And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !! |

I drank 3-4 litres a day while on the programme, and still drink at least 3 litres a day now in maintenance. "The more you drink, the more you shrink" is bandied about a lot, but even if it werent true, it helps to make you feel fuller, therefore less hungry. Hang in there, it does get better, and I can tell you the end result is so worth all the effort. Andrea |

Re: Hi
Hi Samb,
It does seem almost impossible at the start to think you have to stay so disciplined, but trust me, it really does get easier! By the end of week 2 I honestly didn't think I could keep it up, but then I woke up one day and just simply got on with it! Now, at the end of week 3, it is not only possible, but I am actually enjoying eating healthy food and starting to experiment in the kitchen again - something I have not done for YEARS!!! Pretty soon you will land yourself in "the zone" and you will wonder why you found it so hard to begin with. A friend of mine at work said something quite profound to me the other day, and it has really stuck with me (I think she triggered the turning point for me). Her and her hubby have recently started "clean eating" which is similar foods to what we are allowed, and her motto is "This is what we do now". Not, this is what we have to do, or this is what we do for the moment, but "This is what we do now" Every time I am tempted, I just remember that This Is What I Do Now. If you really treat this like a lifestyle change and not just a diet, things become easier to handle. I hope you find the zone too, but just remember there is ENDLESS support here when you need it! Take care, Alli |

Re: Hi
'The zone' is near, Sam. However, consider also what you are going to eat when you do reach your goal. If you plan on going back to what you were eating, you will also get back to what you did weigh. This really is a lifestyle change if you want to remain at a normal weight. Yes, you will be able to have occasional treats, but not too many of them. Something I heard on a CD today that might help is that when faced with a choice (any choice) ask yourself which option is going to have the greatest long term benefit.

Re: Hi
Sam, I've done 6 weeks so far and I'm loving it! The first couple of days (week) are difficult, but you will get used to it.
I really enjoy tasting food in its purest form: not covered in sauce or gravy but to taste what chicken really tastes like or the veggies.... And the great "side effect" is you're getting healthier and most important: the kilos melt away!! Hang in there sam! Also have a look at the recipe section - there are some yummy recipes in there! |
