Talking Special Treat

Hi there

Day 4 on Cohen's... and my first post

Thought i'd share a special treat i discovered a few years ago on weight watchers that fits in well with the programme.

Using one of your meals with the cheese (non-feta) option, serve a good leafy salad for main with some grilled capsicum and mushroom and crispbread ... then a delicious dessert.

Grab your ricotta cheese (low fat of course) and blend in the blender with the equivalent of 2-3 sweetners per 70g of cheese. Then a dash of cinammon. Make sure you make up more than your allowance as you will lose a lot on the side of the blender. Then weigh it out serve with fresh fruit (honey dew is fantastic).

Really feels like an indulgence. (wait till you taste it)

Cheers everyone

Steph

Hey Steph,

The Cappucino Cheesecake (in the Cohens recipe book) is incredible also (or, maybe I'm just really into Ricotta ) I couldn't believe how incredibly delicious it was!

You have your vege allowance prior and treat the cheesecake as a dessert.

Salada (1 crispbread allowance worth)
Sprite Zero
Sweetener
Ricotta Allowance
Coffee (I just use instant coffee powder)

Use Sprite to soften the salada and mash it up.
Mould Salada into the base of a muffin tin (dont forget bit of oil spray)

Mix Ricotta, sweetener & coffee powder together, then spoon onto Salada in muffin tin.

Bake in oven for 10 minutes @ 200 degrees C

Wow its so yummy

this is also amazing if you just add stewed peach to the ricotta and then bake it for 10 mins. If you can - put some of that amazing peach syrup on the top (I get some at the bottom of the container when i microwave frozen stewed peahces) - so that it slightly caramalizes- YUM!!!

I love my breakfast in the mornings with the Pauls 98% fat free plain yogurt. And to me its like having desert for Breakfast. I know this may sound weird for the people who cant take to the yogurt, but I was once there too in the beginning, and now I just love it. This is how I have it.

Yogurt allowance
1 pink lady apple choped and diced, and microwave till nice and soft. I then mash it with a fork, like apple sauce, add a bit of hermesetas powder and ground cinnamon to taste. Sometimes I have the apple sauce cold, and sometimes hot over the yogurt. Try it, its yumm.

Yogurt allowance
mango allowance. yummo

I tried the cheesecake the other night and it was yum. I may have been a bit heavy with the coffee and I will use less next time but it definetely felt like I was having something "naughty".

Try it, Rosemary

My Programme states 3 cups/day- I guess generally speaking we would have 1 heaped teaspoon of coffee/cup..? (that's if it is instant).

And I guess if you use a proper coffee machine, 1 cup of coffee would be classified as 1 Shot of coffee.

FYI: Nescafe; 'Short Black'(100% Arabica) instant coffee is really yummo!

But in my serving of the ricotta cheese for that recipe I only added half a teaspoon of the coffee.

Is that what you were looking for Kim?

But I am now curious of the actual biology behind the affect caffine has on this program and why we are restricted to 3 cups/day....

I thought we were meant to only have decaffinated, is that what Nescafe 'Short Black'(100% Arabica) instant coffee is? I had the cheesecake for breakfast this morning hehe I put the crispbread base in the oven first for about 5-10 minutes to make it more crunchy then add the coffee ricotta cheese and bake for 10-15 minutes

oops just was reading through my programme and if it's more than 3 cups, it must be decaffeinated. I always read something different when i re-read the programme.

I find that the cheese cake is actually better without the salada - plus it means that you get to eat the salada as per normal!
