resetting..
just wondering re reset, if i stick to orignal plan allowance of cb and fruit per day, and 3 protein main meals, am i allowed to have a snack of natural yoghurt in the afternoon, and would having a few teas with a splash of soy milk make a big difference? also are we allowed more than original sweetener allowance on reset? if i having a few teas with sugarine and a few pieces of gum, im a little over the allowance from the plan. im up 1kg from end of refeed weight and its depressing me.. reset is kind of working but not really, ive pretty much been on reset this whole wk since finishing last fri and having chocolate mousse at a wedding on sunday, which saw me go up 600g, then down then up another 500g from having a thai stir fry on thurs night. on reset ive been having tuna in oil, is that bad?? i havent been adding any oil to my cooking though. some mornings i have yoghurt, some mornings an egg white omelette. im thinking about going back on plan in a couple of wks to shed another 4kg and probably have to do refeed all over again. does anyone recommend going on plan for 1 week on, a few days off, (barely off, i mean like eating a bad fruit or something) and then back on so i can avoid refeed? i know i will get a lot of flack for that comment, but its worth asking! any comments would be so helpful thanks guys xx |

Hopeful,
Did you follow maintenance guidelines when you ate the chocolate & also when drinking alcohol? Stress will NOT be helping your weight. Try to stop worrying. With what you have learned on plan and also on refeed, you should (like it says) introduce 1 new food at a time to see what YOUR body can handle. Everybody is different. The main thing is stop stressing! You are only still learning so take it easy. Shell

thanks shell
i did follow maintenance guidelines for the alcohol (of which i have only had tiny amounts.. i had 3 sips of wine last night, and 1/2 a glass in refeed and thats all).. with the chocolate, i had less than guideline amount but it was over an hour since my protein meal. i am down 800g since fri morning, so im feeling less stressed already!!!!! i can already see how well the maintenance guidelines will work, in that they will keep you stabilised, but now im understanding that our bodies are so sensitive to so many ingredients, that to lose a little weight i will need to go on plan. im letting the idea settle and spread back into me, and i will go back to plan in about 2wks. or i might just weigh my food but continue to have new veg and new protein, and see if that does any good, otherwise back to plan, for a few wks. i havent really introduced any new foods daily, except soy milk. i did however, go out for thai for dinner on thurs night which saw me go up because of the salt in the oyster sauce im sure, and yesterday i had some soy sauce, which i now know bloats me to no end, so thats a no no!! on wed night i went for a really nice dinner with my bf, skipped the bread (delicious sourdough that he ate for me hehe) had one sip of his wine, and i had salmon with veges and sauteed broccoli and zucchini as sides. the veges were definitely in oil and other things could have bloated me, but i didnt over eat and there was two tiny slices of potato, so i had one slice. i felt really in control and was proud of myself. im still eating yoghurt, the same fruits ( i introduced a nashi pear, it was fine) tuna salads, tofu stir fries and fish ad veges.. so im not feeling out of control in that sense. im more confused as to what i can snack on, and how much fruit i can have in a day but im working it out.. i loveeee fruit. i could live on fruit!! thanks so much for your help shell!!!!! i really really appreciate it! xxxxx

yes, it was hard because i was at wedding and i ordered the vege meal.. i skipped the bread roll but had a few bites of the risotto i was served, and then had roasted veges (turnip, carrot, zucchini) and salad.. there was a tiny amount of fish for entree but not enough for me! so yes i had a small amount of carbs, although risotto is high GI but i was limited in choices..
then on wed night i had a tiny piece of potato with dinner, and then some chocolate after. but it really was a tiny piece. like one or two 50c size pieces. and again i skipped the bread! xxx |

Me thinks you have too little carbs before your dessert. And I think you stress too much. Your body will not come to harm if you relax and have carbs. You can have a decent amount of carbs usually, but limit it to one meal. Also, limit the fruit intake. One or two pieces per day, max. And when you do have fruit, have it with protein to avoid an insulin spike.
Also, stop worrying about going back on plan. As long as you exercise portion control, you'll be fine. Instead of worrying about a number on the scale, look at your body instead. If there are some 'fat deposits' that you want to get rid of, exercise a bit. If you keep your food intake what it is now, and begin to exercise a bit, the equasion will mean that you will lose weight. Unless of course you overdo it so your body goes in to starvation mode. It's a question of experimenting. But really, stop stressing.

you're right, im sure i didnt have enough carbs before dessert. ive been pretty good with portion size of lunch and dinner i think.. breaky i cant go wrong, yoghurt and a fruit. tomorrow im going to have egg whites though, i have a big day at work and it keeps me really full for a long time.
have been exercising again, although not as hard and fast as pre-cohens.. ive been doing long walks and pilates. im going away this wkend but when im back i plan to get back into spin and pump classes! burn that fat away!! i think the main reason im stressing is not because i think i will put on weight, but because i am at the top end of goal, so if i fluctuate up, down 600g which ive been doing, i go above goal. so realistically, my plan (not rushing anything) is to go down to 58kg where i used to feel fantastic (and i know i will again, i have more fat to lose, im not being unrealistic or striving for a random number) and then maintain within a 1kg range. im giving myself a nice holiday over easter, long walks, tuna salads, not a lot of fruit and not a lot of alcohol.. all good!! hehe thanks so much mette, also did i read that you're engaged?!?! congratulations!!!!! you must be so happy, im really happy for you, what an exciting time in your life!!!! xxxx |
