Default Weighing food

I have a question on the weighing of food. On Sunday I bought a couple of chicken breast meat, weighed them according to my plan, packed them individually into ziplocks and freezed a batch.

Today as I am preparing tomorrow's meals, I just thought of weighing them again (just to check and confirm that I didn't tagged the portions wrongly) and guess what, the weight of the chicken breasts portion reduced by about 5-8grams!

I was wondering if eating less than what is stated on the food plan, will it count as a deviation? I just get so frustrated when I saw that! I mean, I was satisfied with each meal I had and if it was lower than what I ought to eat and it would still count as a deviation, I really need to find a better way out!!!

Any opinions and advise???

To my point above, I weighed the chicken breasts after they are thawed.

You remind me of me a month ago.

First of all, take a deep breath and chill.

You are supposed to weigh raw meats - which you did. When you freeze and then defrost the meat, it's natural for it to shrink. Does it mean that you should add more meat to top up the weight? NO. Stick to the raw meat weight.

I think we get so caught up with wanting to do it right, simple directions can become confusing. Just follow the programme and you'd be fine.

Yup, just fluctuations from the water content - you've done the right thing. Raw weight is accurate. Once defrosted, it may seem a little lighter but it still has all it chickeny goodness that you've been prescribed - just with a little less water.

All good, no panic!!

Phew thank goodness for your replies! That made me feel much better because I did not deviate (except for not finishing my fruit and cracker allowances, if it counts) and somehow I don't think I am losing weight fast enough! Might be water retention so I am upping my water limit! Hope I see some better results soon!

Hi DP,

If you are still within your first 10 days, you should eat them all - after 10 days, I believe it is "optional". And always eat all of your meals (even if you need to stay up later to do it)....

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Don't get too stress up. Even the weight of the vegetables might differ due to dehydration or "hydration". Try buying fresh vegetables, weight them, keep them in the fridge for a couple of days and re-weight them again. They get lighter! I get that all the time so if I want to be calculative, I just throw in a couple of mushrooms or garlic to make up the difference.
