Default Does weightloss become less so soon?

I am a bit disheartened - I lost 11kg in my first month and now in my 2nd month I will be lucky if I have lost 6kg. I know weightloss will start to decline, but I still have such a long way to go that I was not expecting this to happen until much later.

Is this normal?

Hi linc

From my point of view it's totally normal. I had 77,6kg to lose and in my 1st month i have lost 9,2kg and the 2nd month only 6,8kg. From thereon it went down to 5kg for a few months and then spiraled down to 4kg for another few months.
At first i was really frustrated because i thought i would lose huge number.
But now i'm fine if that's all my body want to get rid of i'll take it one day at a time.

Don't get dishearted, you'll do great!!

Hi linc

Don't forget that your body is doing a lot more than 'just' using up fat reserves

I lost 30% of my body weight (Cohen's #1) and shrank 1.10 metres across all measure points

Over a metre shrinkage!

All those adjustments to muscle, skin and tissue must be a lot of work for a body to do

The weight loss is only part of the Cohen's program. Shrinking, with minimal sagging skin, is also a significant benefit. No-one wants to lose weight and look like the saggy, baggy, elephant!

Your Consultant is a good person to talk to. When I filled in the form at the Clinic in 2006, I was a 'fairly active' person who worked in the office at Bi-Lo, so sometimes I would walk a few kilometres each day around the store, including upstairs (25 stairs up and 25 stairs down!)

Now, I work from home and most days, don't even leave the house. I would spend 8 hours literally at my desk

I would now have to describe my lifestyle as 'sedentary' and I bet that if I was starting the program now, for the first time, that my meal types and amounts would be different.

So have a think about whether your circumstances have changed as you may need to adjust your program

Otherwise, a steady 5 kilo loss is still a significant loss (60 kilos over a year!) and at the end of the time, your saggy baggy-ed-ness will most likely be minimised because the steady nature of the loss will have allowed the body to stabilise as it goes along.

Hope this helps
Kristine

Hey Linda, see it from that angle: first month is always an amazing loss!!! And after the losses are great too!
I had an average loss of around 5kilo a month - which mind you are +-10 kilos every 2 months... Hello????
Where else can you loose that?
Also it is about giving your body and also especially your head the room to adjust...
Also it helps you to find triggers emotional barriers etc which really helps in the long haul!
So don't get disheartened - that also slows weight loss down which is counterproductive! Just enjoy and don't weigh yourself too often!
A turtle with a steady walk straight forward will get sooner to the destination than a fast rabbit who is all over the place.... Just food for thought!

You'll get there - how amazing is it just to eat and wait until the body is finished with its incredible work!!!!!

15 Kilo!!!!!! You already got rid off a primary school child (NOT literally but weight wise haha) GIVE YOURSELF AND YOUR BODY CREDIT FOR THE INCREDIBLE ACHIEVEMENT

Thanks for the reply - I am glad to hear it is normal. I was just concerned about it happening so soon.

Thanks for the reply - I forget about the cm - I actually need to get hold of my tape-measure again and see what I have lost cm wise.

I am so glad I joined this forum - I was really disheartened yesterday about the slow weight-loss. Make no mistake I am over the moon about how far I have come already, but I was really expecting the loss to be similar to the first month.

Now at least I know what to expect and therefore will not have too high expectations.

Thanks all .

Hi linc,

Aww, I must've forgotten to point you to this. I'll do it here, so that any others reading your journey can "follow up" via this link :-
http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9635

As the others have shown, Month 1 is usually "the big Kahuna" (actually, it is more correct to say "Week 1" is the big Kahuna, and Week 2 isn't too shabby either). Weeks 3 and 4 are more "normal"......

Works for most, though not all.....

Hi Linc..Yes my first weight loss was 10kgs and then 5,6,and so on.An average over the last 6 months is over 5kg so thats pretty good.I have been on nearly every weight loss program imaginable and this is the best by far..I think we have similar amounts to lose.
Have you done your measurements??
I found that a great boost..
Now i just know with my clothes as they are getting looser and looser..YAY
Hope ya feeling better about it..
I remember thinking on my first weighin where i lost 10kgs, that i might have lost a bit more..How silly was that..
Go well
