Default Incidental Exercise

Please understand that I am not challenging Cohens Prescription on this, just trying to find a something like a good perspective that I can sit comfortably with.

Consider Jenny and Jill;

Same weight and height, same weight to lose, same goal weight.

Funny enough, Jenny and Jill both have the same Cohen's prescriptions!!!
(wow, same blood ~ freaky!)

Jenny is a stay at home mum with a 2 1/2 yo boy who she runs around after all day.

Jill is a professional with an office job.

Jenny is very often feeling hungry.
Jill is comfortably satisfied most of the time.

I guess I am curious to know whether incidental exercise is a something that can be considered when prescribing, or just sit back, aware of my empty tum, knowing that maybe (or maybe not) my son is altering the progress and results (in any direction) of my Cohen's Experience.

I was considering this big cross section of us taking on some research for Dr Cohen, by wearing pedometers for a week from the time we step out of bed in the morning, until the time we go to bed.... hmmmm, see how my mind ponders??

I'm only new to this, so not sure there is much to it, but anyway, thought this would be the best place to discuss.

OK TS,

As Jenny had her 2.5yr old son when she went for her blood test ( I assume he didn't just pop there out of thin air) and Jill did not .. they likelyhood their plans are exactly the same is slim. Jenny would be by the nature of getting "incidental exercise" producing different hormones due to her muscle mass and showing different levels of creatinine. If however they did have the same plan .. it would mean that by a freak of nature Jill produces the same levels of hormone naturally and therefore requires the same 'prescription as Jill' ...

And as far as factoring in the incidentals - you are just going to have to trust that he got it right!

OK, had time to think about your response Connie. Your comments have led me to be more specific with what I think may be going on. You sort of explained the lifestyle features considered and being able to be read in the blood test results, how do I find out more about this?

My issue is this:

For about 5 weeks before my first blood test, 7 weeks ago, I was living with my parents in law who have a cleaner so no housework, my MIL and I shared my son, and I did less than half of the cooking or shared the cooking and barely any food shopping.

I started my prescription 6 weeks ago on Tuesday.

Now I am running a larger house than ever before and back to raising my son solo nearly all of the time. Wish I had more energy for it as he is such a fun little guy!! I had good energy in the first month, but now I feel weak and heavy which is really off putting!!

Would you say this could be an influencing factor on my hormones?

I think this might link to "you must start your prescription within 6 weeks of your first blood test" and "do not take on any extra exercise than you are already doing once you start the diet".

I have changed my "energy out" just through moving houses. Should my body adjust to the "energy in" on it's own or should the "energy in" be adjusted to my higher "energy out"?

I would not be worried if I was not getting headaches, hunger pains and dizzy spells.

The weakness I believe comes from missing the gym and yoga classes.

Currently just under 3 kgs away from calling the clinic to order my re-feed.

Your direction would be really helpful.

OK TS,

All I know about the blood tests is that the four weekly ones are checking on Creatinine production and kidney functions, my doctor explained some of it to me .. but not a lot.

I guess only the clinic can tell you for sure.

Many of us had changes of job, changes of lifestyle, more exercise, less exercise, etc etc etc while doing the program but I never heard of anyone's program changing.

My job changed and I got more walking and such, more stairs etc. I didn't pay much attention to it ... all my life I had excuses for my weight and why things were different for me ... because of this and that ... I wanted to break that pattern before I finished after all ... how many times in the past have you seen someone say "I am feeling really hungry I will HAVE to eat more... I must have used more energy today .. or rewarded a run on the treadmill with an extra cookie.." The patterns that made us fat must be broken or in maintenance it will all come back. So I made the decision to just put my big girl panties on and get it done!

Please call your clinic, they can ask Dr Cohen, but I doubt it will change anything. You are in the final run down to refeed and your body is using up old fat stores and trying very hard not to .... It wants to keep them incase there is a famine, I know of very few who sailed into refeed, most are tired, cranky, and extremely hungry.

OK Connie,

I am calling the clinic.

I really want the energy, enthusiasm and motivation back from the first 4 weeks, instead of feeling tired and hungry all the time.

Thank-you Shanara.

Seems I had a low couple of weeks with the hungry, tired, no energy thing.
For some reason everything feels back on track and I am feeling energized, awake, a little hungry but nothing crazy, and totally motivated.

Today my son and I went swimming, plus we vacuumed the house together.

Still feel like I could go for a walk which is nice.

TS I was interested in your question and comments. I became hungry and fatigued close to my goal weight. Although I don't have young children, I have an active yet large puppy, work 2 jobs, including night shift, look after 2 grown boys, and am on the go constantly, gardening and cleaning a large house as well as working 65 hours a week in my jobs.

When I started taking oil supplements I found my problems ceased. In case you haven't been taking fish oil, it might be a consideration. I took flaxseed oil supplements and then changed to my preference of emu oil rather than the recommended fish oil because I don't eat fish.

Thanks Tantravaya,

Interesting about the oil supplements!

I am taking EFA Compound which is sourced from fish.
I take 2 a day, have been told by my Chinese Dr before Cohens I could take up to 4 a day, but will check with the clinic to see.

Maybe a change is as good as a holiday?
