Default Im a Newbie

Hello! Im Mandy, im 29 from Newcastle & have been married for 10 yrs & have a 5 yr old son.
Ive been on Cohens for just over 2 weeks (started Sept 11th) & am thrilled with the results so far, ive lost 10.8kgs. Ive quite a way to go but so far ive been sticking to it really well. It was hard to get used to the smaller meals & drinking so much water at first but now its not so bad. My Sister is doing the program as well so we have some great support since we cant visit a clinic.
I look forward to getting to know you all!

Mandi

Welcome Mandi Glad to have you here. Must be great to have your sister on with you. I tired to get my sister to start Cohen's but haven't had no luck. I think if we lived closer to each other it would be better. Maybe.
Good luck on your journey.

Welcome to the forum Mandi.
This is a great place to come when like myself, you cant visit a clinic.
This forum fills that gap wonderfully.
Congrats on your weight loss so far and the best of luck.

Hi Mandi

I started the program about the same time that you did. Interested in reading your journey to give me inspiration and to support you along. I only drink about 2 litres a day (some days more), but I have recently started getting serious tummy rumbles at night - are you experiencing the same?

Jackie

Hey Newbie!

I'm a newbie too. This is my first week, up to day five and going strong. I can already feel the difference in my clothes.

Good luck on your journey!

Cheers,

Jenn

Hi all,

Wow, this is such a good thread - so many starting out, and welcome to all of you. I can't help too much with your questions, but I do know that spending some time on here (reading other threads) can answer a lot of your questions.

Can I say, though, whatever else you do, DON'T start comparing your weight loss with others (and getting discouraged). Some lose quickly, some lose weight slower. You are all individuals, and your path will be different to others (for many reasons). But, from what I've read, THIS way does work, and much quicker than most other programs. Some lose about a Kg a week - regular as clockwork - while others can drop 2 - 3 Kg's a week. As long as you all acknowledge this, and stay focussed anyway, you will all be "winners" in the end.

Some choose to weigh daily, while others weigh in once a month - it is all "in your hands" as to how YOU do it. Many others have said "stay positive, know WHY you are doing this, roll with the punches, and get to where you want to go" (or words like that).

It IS an emotional journey too - so be prepared for some "down" days. When you have those, come on here and share them. But don't let those few days weigh too heavily on you. Be kind to yourselves, immerse yourself in the goodness of those in this forum, and achieve your goal. KNOW that this will work for you, as it has for all of those who have gone before. Draw from their experience, and be kind to yourself, and, once more, welcome to you all,

And keep posting ..... support is here for you to get you through your concerns,

Koh

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!

Koh giving great advice again he really knows his stuff......

Anyway he is right don't compare your loss with others. When I started this hubby did too. He lost nearly twice what i did. Then he went off the program a week before our sons wedding in Aug. He gained 5 to 7 lbs right away but then leveled off. He was still watching what he ate and how much staying mostly Cohen friendly. BUT he also drank beer and booze ate bread sometimes and sweets choc. pasta you get the picture.
I basically made him go back on full steam this last Mon. He is within 3 lbs of where he was when he stopped in Aug. With all the cheats he has had it just isn't fair. But what do you do.
The only reason I am telling ya'll this is so you see that he lost faster than me but I just kept chugging along. I have pst him in the amount of weight we both lost I am ahead now. But probably won't be for long if he stays to his plan a 100%. But that's ok cause i know I am looking pretty good for my advanced age (It has to be true cause of all the comments I get on a daily bases ) I can look into the mirror at me nekked and not choke. This program works and all of us oldsters here can atest to that

So girls and guys just keep chugging along and you will be at refeed and done before you know it.
Pudge

Hi Mandi,

How are you going. There is so much advice here that I barely get through all the posts before I get to write in my diary and then forget because something else comes up.

The main point I would like to make is just to make time for you every day. Doesn't have to be spoil time just a walk or a half hour at the shops or a soak in the bath. It really nurtures you and keeps you sane.

Have a good weekend.

Melissa
