Talking Is it FAT or LOOSE SKIN ??

HI Guys,
I have searched around the forum and on the net in answer to my question....
I'm close to the end of my journey and was wondering whether anyone knows the difference between FAT and LOOSE SKIN....

I know that this is an issue that we face with weightloss but would like a clear understanding of whether I have more fat to lose or whether it's loose skin....

I have lost 37.5kgs in 28 weeks and presently sitting about 3.8kgs above my higher goal range of 62-59kgs....

I know that my skin will firm up over time and with exercise...and my question isn't about loose skin....it's whether anyone can advise me if there clear explaination of what is the difference.....

Thanks guys and I look forward to your replies....
Cheers Di

Not directly, but, indirectly you WILL know !! If you have used up all your fat stores, you'll be having those "hungries" hitting you. If that hasn't yet happened, then there IS still more stored fat there, Diane.

Sorry I can't help further - let's see what others have to say. Not long to go now, champ

Thanks Koh, I'm getting a little more hungry than normal but nothing to indicate to me that I need refeed yet...my intention is to be at the bottom range of my goal before I even entertain the refeed process...but I will let my body decide that one...

Hey Koh in your experience on the forum is the older that you get you don't tend to get to the bottom range...I'm 47 now and was wondering what the general feeling was around this...

Cheers and thanks for the reply and the encouragement
Di

Hi Di

Just this morning I was looking in my mirror and wondering the same thing. Is this lose skin or still fat? Very difficult to tell.

I am 44 and I never got a range was just told that my goal is 68kg. I am now on 72kg and want to reach 70kg. That was always my goal and at Weighless my goal range was always 68 - 73kg, so I am happy with 70kg. These last 2kg are really difficult. I am really hungry and am craving sweet stuff like crazy. It got a bit better for a week when I swopped meals around but has now started again. This morning I ate my dinner for breakfast and will have my breakfast tonight. Very complicated but I want to reach 70kg. Don't worry, you will know the hunger, mine started about 5kg before my goal weight and man I tell you it is no joke. You just eat and then you are starving.

Good luck, you are nearly there and have done so well. See you in refeed.

Hi Diane, i think i can help you out here with some visuals. I know, i must be mad to bring this thread to the forefront again as it shows my flabby before pic BUT, it might help! In a minute i will reply to myself on a thread i created 18 months ago (that will bring it into todays forum) when i wasnt happy with my abs after Cohens. Trust me i was sick in the head at the time, now i love the abs i was trying to improve! I will get there again.

Anyway, look out for a thread called "The Making of 6 Pack Abs". At the beg of the thread, there is a pic of my at 69kg with a jelly belly, then one of me at 54kg so you can see the difference.

The main point for you to look at is, in the after 54kg shot i am 1kg under top of Cohen range so almost 5kg less than you are now. 5kg is a lot of fat! I also got down to 49kg (to low) trust me, i could not believe how the lower i went on the scales, the fat melted away. Now loose skin, thats a different story but why not get at least under top end Cohens goal and rethink! Hope this helps. Pandora
p.s. forgive the shocked look on my face, hehe!

Me again Diane. Forgot to address your other question - "is the older that you get you don't tend to get to the bottom range...I'm 47 now ".

Well, i am 56 on my next birthday. I was 54 in the pics in the 6 pack abs thread. I reckon i did go too low on the scales at 48.9kg but hey that is over 3kg under my goal range of 52-55kg! This time (i am redoing the program as per my diary) i aim for 54kg but i already know what my body looks like at that weight and size - as per the after abs pics. So, long answer to your question but the idea of being older makes a difference is rubbish! Enjoy, celebrate, be the weight YOU want but i reckon Dr Cohens goal weight range is very accurate. Pandora

Hi Diane,

In my recollection, AJ's clinic mentioned something like that to her. The other thing I recall about "being older" - I think it was SMS and AJ that chatted about having MORE crackers than most, 'cos Dr Cohen was not wanting them to move down too fast.... I think I recall that right. Of course, both SMS and AJ had hit the 60's (age, not weight) - so you're still a young chick

Also, in my recollection, it was only AJ that stopped a little higher than goal range. The other older ones I recall are SMS and Ceburoo - and I think they both got right down into goal range.

Hang onto Roxy though - she's just a few steps ahead of you, Diane - her experience may be a good learning curve for you... You two might even be refeeding together for a few days

Koh

Hi Di

I also think that each person is different. It depends on a lot of factors how fast or slow you lose weight. I am losing very slowly and am also on hormone replacement theraphy and they can say what they want it does affect your weight. When I was younger I had no problem losing weight and having been a yo-yo dieter all my life I found that my weight loss was definitely more difficult the older I became. That said, I don't this it is impossible to reach your lowest range but it depends on what you are comfortable with. I will never look like a super model and don't want to either. I am happy with 70kg and will exercise to tighten up the lose skin that I have at the moment. It is not a lot but a bit jelly like.

Go with what you feel comfortable with and good luck. See you in refeed ......
