Default Low blood pressure

Hello everyone...

Well...well well.... in fact... I'm not....

well that is,...

I've had to be off programme for the last 2 days...

Seems I've developed orthostatic hypotension It's been building for a while....

It basically means that my blood pressure is dropping significantly upon standing.... Lovely things such as lightheadedness, spinning and feeling like my blood is pumping hard through my spinal area....are just some of the joy that you lot are missing out on!!! Even going from sitting to standing can cause some of the same problems

My Doctor yanked me off the programme as he felt that a combination of heat, salt depletion and too long between meals might be contributing to it...Spoke to him this afternoon and he says I can go back on as of tomorrow....as long as I add some salt to all my water at the moment AND take it easy....and constantly monitor my blood pressure... I have a portable sphygmamometer to take with me for a few more days...

And I have to make sure all my food is spaced out.....as if I wasn't already obsessed with it as it was *LOL*

If all this fails then I have to look at more tests and poss some meds... blerggghhh..I'm hopeful it will al work out though

So the last couple of days have been interesting..Allowed to eat whatever took my fancy....and I am steering well away from carbs...well I had to up them a little but no cravings for them at all...I can't stand bread and still won't drink milk...Things are very salty....which is sposed to be good for me right now.... but it's salty!!! *LOL*

I haven't even changed my plate size....normal size portions look HUGE ...

The most interesting this is that I feel incredibly nauseated...and I don't think it's my Blood pressure... I think it's a change in the food that I'm eating... I've bloated too...I can see it in my stomach and around my face....I've also noticed a difference in my bowel habits which I WOULD regale you all with, but I like to leave my public hanging out for more!*LOL*

I've put away my scales and tape measure right now because I don't want to see a false result right now...So tomorrow I will be back on programme and hopefully these symptoms will resolve themselves.

After a serious amount of navel gazing today, I have come to the conclusion that my eating habits have now changed for life...I'm craving Cohens food....good clean food....simple food....

That's why this is called Holy Crap Batman...!!!

My body can't eat like it used to... it can't take the same quantities....It can't take the same food...I think it illustrated to me why refeed will be so crucial...

So, IN the interests of my health I'm off for a couple of days...down to Mandurah again... I went with my 5 yo last week but as I was not well it was a bit of a schamazol ....So, Sun surf and taking it easy

Don't worry about me !! I'll be fine....

And as a word of caution to ya'll....if you've got any symptoms...get them checked by a doctor,.... I could possibly have avoided this if I had seen a doctor before I almost started passing out!!!!! Ignoring your health is not a preventative medicine...

Hi Debs,

you're so right about getting everything checked out that isn't normal for your body's behaviour!

I wait with baited breath for the next installment of that one...............not!

I am so glad that your doc is working with you on this to ensure you can correct the problem and then get you back on the program.

I hope you have a lovely break down at Mandurah and look forward to hearing about your hols when you get back.

Cheers,

Dee.

Hi Debs, wow, holy crap batman indeed!

I must say tho it does sound very much like what happened to me a few weeks ago, around the end of Nov when i was dizzy, lightheaded, had vertigo, couldnt drive, spaced out, holding on to furniture on and off for 5 days. I put it down to a virus and it passed BEFORE i reached the doctor!

During that week i researched the effects of too much seratonin (i.e. too little makes you depressed) and there is some evidence to suggest that too much is equally as bad for you in other ways, including affects on blood pressure. One point for me was i realised i had been hving the symptoms every Sunday at church for 3 weeks prior to the full on "attack", holding onto the chair in front during worship, feeling like i wld pass out and i did think into myself that it had to be related to the diet in some way.

I am so glad you have visited yr doctor, maybe you need to be in a "holding pattern" for a short time to stabilise yr progress so far and rebalance whatever is going on! I know what happened to me was the scariest thing ever and i even had visions of becoming housebound cos could not drive, so here i was slim with no where to go !

Also, in hindsight, i noticed today that since that event, i wasnt able to stick to my program 100% for even one week until NOW (restarting 100%'s easy now), perhaps cos my body take over and now i am refocused and ready to complete what i set out to do! Its just a short detour on the journey of a lifetime! Rest, take care, nurture you and let us know the docs results! Pandora

Sorry to hear about your failing health. Glad to hear that you are getting some medical attention and some R&R. Sounds like you need it. Hope you take it easy until you have more strength. By the way, did you bruise really easily during this period? I have similar light headed symptoms, and turn blue every time I get any knock harder than a pat.

I'm not sure which to be more sorry about for you Debs, the feeling awful bit, or the no longer enjoying food bit!!!

Actually, I think the evidence that your eating habits have been so effectively retrained is excellent. But it does make you a bit curious as to whether the clinic can modify your program to achieve the same great results without playing with your blood pressure. When does your clinic reopen?

Hang in there chick, I hope it passes soon <hug>.

Oh gees. This sounds exactly what's been happening to me for a few weeks now. I asked my consultant about it and she said I could be iron deficient. Might book into a dr next week to double check things over. I so don't want to come off the program

I am so happy to have my body, I respect it, and always treat it with love and kindness! I honour my body for all that it is, imperfections and all. The most important lesson I have learnt from my journies with Cohens, has been to re-find self-love and respect. Staying in love and respect with myself will always ensure I remainhealthy and comfortable!
