Information about the programme and how to get started!

PLEASE NOTE!!!
This is NOT an official 'Cohens Document'. If there ARE any errors they're MINE. It has been compiled to help you make an assessment as to whether the programme might be 'right' for you.




WHAT DOES DR COHEN’S PROGRAM DO AND WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT?
Dr Cohen's program offers rapid fat loss that should never come back provided you keep the hormones balanced by eating correctly. Dr Cohen's has isolated three hormones involved in managing body fat.

They are: Human Growth Hormone, Insulin and Serotonin.

In people who suffer from obesity, the level of human growth hormone drops, unnaturally high levels of insulin are released and serotonin is not released properly. As a result, sufferers’ constantly crave food and no matter how little or how much they eat, they gain weight.

Dr Cohen treats clients by analysing their unique blood profile and devising a custom-made eating plan accordingly. The eating plan stimulates these three hormones with specific food combinations and quantities so that the body starts burning its own fat. Your food becomes your medicine.

Dr Cohen has successfully treated thousands of people over the last 25 years. This is not another fad diet; it is based on medical research.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PROGRAM?
The cost of the program is $850.00. However, if you pay the total up front you will receive a $100 discount and pay only $750.00.

The cost of the programme does not include blood tests which are $22 for the initial blood test and $11 for the repeat blood tests. These are paid directly to the pathologist each time you have a test.

WHAT DO I GET AS PART OF MY PROGRAMME FEE?
  • EATING PLAN – a personalized diet made for you by Dr Cohen using your initial blood results with the eating plan fully explained to you at the clinic or by phone
  • REFEEDING STABILISING PROGRAM – personalized for you by Dr Cohen using the results from all your repeat blood tests (see below for explanation of what this is)
  • LIFE AFTER THE PROGRAM - Maintenance Guidelines
  • CLINIC SUPPORT – either at the clinic or by a phone consultation - this varies with each clinic, check with the one closest to you.

WILL PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE COVER THE COST?
There are some private health funds that do treat this program as claimable (i.e., MBF and Medibank Private, etc), however you will need to contact your health fund directly as it depends on what type of cover you have and the amount which will be reimbursed. You will need to ask whether they allow a rebate for a weight loss programme. The Cohens clinics do not have a 'provider number' as Dr Cohen is not registered in Australia.

DO YOU HAVE A PAYMENT PLAN OPTION?
Yes, at no additional cost a payment plan is possible. This is done through another company called Certegy. You will need to contact a clinic to have the appropriate forms mailed out to you.

WHAT DOES THE EATING PLAN CONSIST OF?

The eating plan consists of three meals a day of proteins and vegetables plus snacks of fruit and crispbreads. No "exotic" or "expensive" food needs to be purchased. It's good, simple, nutritious food. If there's something you particularly don't like, just don't eat it. I can't stand celery, for example, so I never ever ate it.
The programme doesn't tell you what to eat at each meal like some programmes, so you won't be told to eat 'chicken and mushroom bake' or such, you will simply get a programme that gives you a few choices per meal, and you decide whether you make salad or stir fry.



HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN I EXPECT TO LOSE?


AFTER 4 WEEKS
10% of people lose less than 7 kgs
70% of people lose between 7-10 kgs
20% of people lose between between 10-20 kgs

AFTER 12 WEEKS
12% of people lose between 17-20 kgs
60% of people lose between 20-27 kgs
28% of people lose between 27-35 kgs

ONCE I HAVE MY EATING PLAN CAN I START IT ANYTIME?
No, your body chemistry is continually changing so you must start your diet within 6 weeks of your initial blood test.

CAN I GO OFF THE PROGRAM AT ANYTIME?
If you stop following your diet/program for 2 or more months before reaching your goal weight, your biochemistry alters and Dr Cohen will not be able to produce your refeeding program. If you need to stop your program for any reason you should inform your clinic.

HOW HARD IS IT TO STICK WITH THE PROGRAMME?
This does take some discipline, however the results are very quickly obvious and that's great motivation! It really is a case of 'how badly do you want it?'

HOW WILL I FEEL ON THE PROGRAMME?
Most people experience increased energy and vitality, with no hunger pangs or cravings. Many people say that their high blood pressure and sugar levels return to normal, aches and pains and frequent headaches stop, and that their health in general improves tremendously, however there are NO claims made that this programme does ANYTHING other than cause you to lose weight. These are simply observations over quite some time.
If you DO have high blood pressure it's a REALLY good idea to keep it monitored as your medication may need to be altered.
Remember, do NOT alter your own medication (My dad DIED doing that... He felt he knew better than every one else and didn't need one of his medications any more, and died a week later!). Please keep your GP involved in your medical care.
Whilst Dr Cohen IS a Doctor, he is NOT YOUR DOCTOR, and is NOT a substitute for your OWN medical care.

CAN I SHARE MY PROGRAMME WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS?

No, as your unique eating plan will not "trigger" another person's body into correcting its imbalance. It may well cause even more imbalance and illness! Also, in some cases of "copying" some people have initially lost weight, but gained it very rapidly when going off the diet... once again, because the treatment was not meant for them and as a result their HGH had not been "triggered".
In addition to that, as giving a programme to someone does not allow Dr Cohen to assess their medical suitability for the programme, you may actually be doing them CONSIDERABLE HARM. They may be completely unsuitable for a programme, and a rapid weight loss programme may be completely unsafe.
Dr Cohen is quite conservative with writing programmes for people with serious medical issues. If he says NO, there's a good reason. He really DOES know best.
By allowing copies to 'get away' you are risking them falling into the hands of someone who could be completely unsuitable for it.
It's really not worth the risk.


HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO BE ON THE PROGRAMME?

That depends on a number of factors. For example; your blood profile, your age, your gender, the amount of weight you have to lose etc. It also really depends on how strictly you follow the programme. Stick to it and give yourself the BEST possible chance of getting a really great outcome.

WHY ARE REPEAT BLOOD TESTS NECESSARY?
The Blood Tests allow an analysis of certain aspects of your system which in turn indicates what is required to get your body back in balance. This approach therefore designs an eating plan unique to your requirements, one that will "trigger" your HGH profile and result in weight-loss and the other health benefits.

WHY DO I HAVE TO HAVE REPEAT BLOOD TEST DONE ON A CERTAIN DATE?

Dr Cohen uses each repeat blood test to monitor your progress and create your personal eating plan. Doing the test on the correct dates will ensure an accurate stabilizing/refeeding program, as your body chemistry goes through a 4 weekly cycle. Repeat blood tests are done weeks 4, 12, 16, 20 then every 8 weeks there after.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T HAVE MY REPEAT BLOOD TESTS?

If you go longer than 12 weeks between tests, Dr Cohen will not be able to prepare your personal stabilizing refeeding program.

WHAT IS REFEEDING?
The specialised eating plan is followed by a short stabilization program called Refeeding. The 2-4 week "Stabilising Program" is when the so-called "Bad-foods", (foods eliminated while on the first stage of the program) are re-introduced back into your life without "shocking the body!"
Whilst on the Program repeat blood tests are used to monitor your progress and most importantly once you reach your goal weight to prepare your personalized Refeeding Program.
This is the key to this Program being so successful. The Refeeding will slowly reintroduce different foods you have not been having and increase quantities to stabilise your body at your natural goal weight so you can return to a normal healthy lifestyle without ever having to diet again.
The Re-feeding program and the fact that Dr Cohen formulates each Eating Program for every individual makes this weight-loss program different from other diets out there. It is unlikely you will put weight on again or need to go on another diet ever again... if you
"do the Re-feeding Process"

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I FINISH THE REFEEDING PROCESS?
You are then given healthy lifestyle maintenance guidelines called LAP (Life after the Program) that will assist you from starting the cycle of the "Obesity Syndrome" again. It contains tips to make sure you keep your bio-chemistry stable.

WHAT IF I LIVE FAR FROM A CLINIC?

If you live far from a clinic, ring the clinic nearest to you and discuss this. Alternative arrangements can often be made to still support your journey.

WHAT ABOUT VITAMINS?

In today's modern way of life every adult will benefit from supplementing his or her diet with essential vitamins and trace elements. The combination of the multi-vitamins and minerals enhance the benefits derived from the eating plan, and will make you achieve wellness even sooner. Dr Cohen has given the clinics a list of what vitamins and minerals he recommends are taken while on the programme, and you will get a list of which to take when you start the programme.

DO I HAVE TO EXCERISE?

No, not if you don’t want to, it's preferred that you don’t start if you are not in a regular exercise routine. But if you are exercising it's recommended you continue, maintain what you are doing and listen to your body. If you become hungry or tired you may need to pull back on the intensity. If you need help with this, ask your clinic.

What do I need, and how do I do it?

THE PRACTICAL ESSENTIALS

1. Digital food scales are absolutely essential. They don't have to be expensive...just accurate.
2. Get a cup, bowl and plate that are smaller in size. Your meals will fit them much better than your usual crockery.
3. Buy a small non stick fry pan. It's easier to cook the required quantities in it.
4. Zip lock bags are you new best friend. Both snack size and sandwich size.
5. Permanent marker for writing on bags
6. Get a measured water bottle so you know how much water you are drinking.
7. When you buy your meat - cut it up, weigh, bag, label and freeze it so you always have food on hand
8. When buying prawns try to calculate the amount you need to buy. This saves waste.
9. A good multivitamin is essential.
10. If it's not on the programme. IT'S NOT ON THE PROGRAMME.

MIND OVER MATTER

1. This programme will uncover some of the emotional reasons you eat. Prepare to deal with them as they arise. You will have highs and lows and this is perfectly normal and happens to ALL of us.
2. Redesign your life to allow you to succeed. Plan and prepare meals if you need to.
3. Tell your family and friends what you are doing so they can support you.
4. When feeling low or at risk - take it one meal at a time.
5. If the end seems too far away and overwhelming - don't think about it and go meal by meal. Day by day.
6. Measure weekly.
7. Don't weigh yourself. Only weigh as described in your programme.
8. Eat slowly. You start feeling full before your plate is empty
9. Chew your food more. Slows the eating process down.
10. Join in this forum. Share and read. Work the programme together.
