Default Suzie's Diary

Hi All,

A little about myself, I am 35 and married with 2 great boys aged 3 and 6. I'm 80kg as of today and my goal is 50kg, which is pretty much what I weighed when I got married 8 years ago. I've been a yo yo dieter since my teens but only since getting pregnant did my weight problems really get out of hand.

I won't be starting the program for another 3 weeks as money is a bit tight right now. But I decided I couldn't wait that long as I'm really motivated NOW, so I printed off the 'preparing for Cohen's' sheet last night and will follow that until I start the program for real later next month.

I'm so excited to think I will lose this weight by Christmas time and be able to enjoy the summer months without being self concious and embarrassed about they way I look. Bring the beach on I say!

Anyway, I am looking forward to sharing this journey with you all and best of luck to everyone. I will be needing support and inspiration through out this and this site is about as inspiring as you can get!

I will try to get my ticker up soon - hubby will need to help....I'm terrible at these things.

Suzie

Welcome, Suzie. You should find that if you follow the pre-Cohen plan you will lose quite a lot of weight before you start the diet proper. Also, you will get though most of the detox stage. Cutting out carbs will probably lead to cravings, which you need to ignore. Chromium taken morning and afternoon helps with that. Once your insulin levels are under control it all gets much easier.

You will receive all the support and assistance you need on this forum.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.
What else do I do? I help people make money and I help people save money. Please take a look at http://www.acnlinks.clancie.com.au/
Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Good luck suzie with the precohen. I have been using it for the last couple of weeks and losing weight doing it. I just had my blood test this morning and am excited to get some more specific instructions. I spoke to the consultant this morning I was told that once i start I could expect to lose 20kgs in 3 months which is pretty exciting, I note you and I have about the same amount to lose so maybe we will finsih around the same time.

best of luck

Louise

Default Hi Louise!

This is great that we are starting around the same time and have the same to lose - we can be partners in crime!

I originally had my goal weight at 50kg thinking I was 158cm tall but guess what? I measured myself and turns out I've been kidding myself all these years, I'm only 156cm! Bummed out. So I changed my goal to 47kg now, I think I was last that weight when I was 9 years old!

I actually just typed up a response to you and turned out I wasn't logged on so I lost it..now I'm thinking my other one will turn up as well and there will be 2 replies from me to you, whatever.

Anyway, let's keep our eyes on the prize and keep eachother motivated to get this done. Just think, it's only a few months of our lives and that time will fly!

Keep me posted with your progress and looking forward to getting to know you better.

Suzie

Smile Hi Suzie

Hi Suzie.
That would be great. Im 170cms so my goal is higher at 65kgs. I thought I had to get to 62, but I was pleased when I spoke to the consultant this morning to find out it was 65, as 62 would have been very low for me. Im feeling a bit frustrated at the moment as I decided to bring my scales as Im away all week and now they are playing up after the trip and everytime I get on them I get a different reading! - does anyone have any tips how to fix scales?
I have a diary running as well called Louises adventure.
I look forward to staying in touch

Louise

Default Had a realisation last night....

So, I was lying in bed last night all excited thinking how great it will be when I lose my weight. This led to me not being able to get to sleep until 1am - I'm not a good sleeper.

Anyway, as my head is churning over I started to feel scared. I realised that one of the reasons I put on the weight is because I was 'hiding' myself.

Anyway, I've decided to try not to even think about that side of it and list the great reasons why I do want to lose weight:

1) I want to be healthy and happy.
2) I want to be a healthy role model for my kids and have more energy for them
3) I want to be able to get up in the morning and know that my clothes fit me and look good. Not try on 10 outfits and end up in tears!
4) I want to feel confident and know that people aren't looking at me and thinking negative things because I am overweight - the old paranoia sucks.
5) I want to not be embarrassed of my body in front of my husband - oh to walk around in my undies and not give a damn...now that's freedom!

Well, I just felt I wanted to get all this out of my system and this is a good place to do it. Now you know I'm crazy, maybe I'll change my diary name to Crazy's Diary...hmmm .

Hi Suzie Q
Yes it is exciting to contemplate the future us!!

Nothing crazy about those thoughts, all prefectly normal. Ive thought some of them myself. We always think that our partners should love us what ever we look like, and isnt it great that they do, but recently I reversed it and thought about how I think about my partners body. He has a very physical job and has a great body without even trying - lucky thing! Although I am losing my weight for me, I want him to be able to think that my body is as nice, as I think his is! If others notice, just take it as a compliment.

have a great day

Louise

Suzi Darl .. you're not as crazy as you thought you were/are.. or perhaps the rest of us/ or a lot of us are crazy too.. I have to be totally honest here & say that I'm STILL struggling with the exact same thing.. but I'm getting professional help for mine.. there's a reason behind everything.. perhaps you'll find yours & deal with it easily.. perhaps not.. but for me I need help & it's confronting but at the same time I know through my pain I'm going to be a winner.. BIG TIME..

May sound like riddles so if you want to know more you know where to find me

HUGS

Default Phew...

After I made that post I was doubting whether I should have as I didn't know how it would come across, thank you for understanding. And Faithy, it is a relief to know someone else understands where I'm coming from even though it sounds so weird.

Yes, there are issues that need to be addressed along with the weight loss, bit of soul searching is in order. Everything isn't as straight forward as it seems is it? Yes, I know where to find you Faithy and I'll be in touch soon

WELCOME .. I just wanted to jump in .. say HI .. and say you won't have any trouble sleeping once you get started .. I used to be an insomniac .. be awake half the night .. since starting Cohens .. I sleep like a LOG !! except when I get up to pee .. and even then half the time I walk like a zombie and hardly open my eyes !!

Hey, susie.

I know excautly what you mean- though for me it wasn't till my hubby said- "You wont run off once your hot, Umm, Hotter, will you???" He's trying to be supportive, but it made me laugh.

All I can say Is he stood by me and i'll stand by him- hopefuly we'll both get healthier for our son Hunter, and make things spicer. (can't believe i just wrote that) lol.

Good Luck- sounds like your got your heart and head in the right place.

Hiya and welcome to the zoo.
Not nutty at all my dear ...I have had very much the same realisations myself of late..but you are right on track....it's not attention from the opposite sex that you need at all.....it's your health , vitality and energy.....and that's what your going to get !
Best of luck

Hi Suzie,

Welcome aboard - seems you are really living this journey (and that's all GOOD - so don't worry...)

Quote:
Sure if I was single I'd be like woohoo bring it on, but because I am happily married it scares me that I could get any sort of attention like that from a guy. It makes me really uncomfortable, but then to condradict myself I am really looking forward to looking better than I do now.
Ask hubby what HE thinks !!! I'm sure he will be just SO proud of you as you become who YOU want to be !!!

What I think, is that good-looking girls are a pleasure (eye candy ) - but not for any other reason than that they "look good" and are confident with that!! And I enjoy watching them as they just LIVE !!! Y'know, dancing, dressing up, putting it out there, etc.

Girls who love being girls are a joy to behold !! So, go be a girl - be happy within yourself !!
Quote:
Being overweight I just do not feel sexy at all, I'm even too embarrassed to let my hubby see me half dressed, never mind naked! He is a gem putting up with my craziness.
Any man worth his salt will love his lady through thick and thin !!! And he will love you as YOU stride toward where YOU want to be weight-wise !! Because YOU will be so much more confident, things will just get better and better - and he will LOVE having you on his arm as you walk down the street too. More than before? Hmm, I'd say "Yes!" - but the big difference will not be so much the weightloss, but the new confident YOU. THAT makes such a difference !!

Go girl - be proud as you step down to where YOU want to be (and you'll make that man of yours proud into the bargain) Now THAT can't be bad eh?

Koh

And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !!
