Default Getting back on program..help

Hi,

I am a new member although I did join Cohens back in February. I did really well for the first month and lost 12 kilos, I was so happy and felt so healthy...One month on and I am totally off track. In between I went on a (pre-booked) holiday to Fiji, where I thought I would be able to keep Cohens up easily; we had a full kitchen apartment and I took my scales. I didnt account for the difficulties in getting Cohen approved veggies & fruit(there are mostly things like sweet potato and taro available) and one little deviation led to full on off the rails chaos!!!
I am having difficulty getting back on track. I go a day or two and then I just crumble. I really, really want to do this so I cant understand why it has become so difficult or why I am being so weak. I feel like a total loser, noone else seems to be all over the place like this, what is the secret, or is it just me ? Please any kicks up the bum, encouragement or advice would be so welcome.
You are all doing so well and are such an inspiration!
Thanks,
NS

Default Help Please!!!!!

You are not the only one who has fallen off the rails, about 90% of us have in some way or another - be it a little deviation or a big mammoth one! it's about looking inside and working out what you really really want.

Do you want to be skinnier, healthier, have more vitality, look great, be able to walk into a shop and have any clothes fit you?

I know it is hard to get back into the Cohen's Zone - trust me i've had my fair share of slip ups and set backs. But once you are there it's easy, just eat what you are allowed and let your body do the work.

Focus on one day at a time.
Make the Commitment to do this for yourself.
Goal: Follow Cohen's EXACTLY for one week. This means NO deviations, no slip up's, the correct weights, the correct foods and LOADS of water.
At the end of the week hop on the scales or measure yourself. you will feel/see a difference and that will help with the added motivation to carry on and finish what you've started.
KEEP ON KEEPING ON. just get started and the rest will follow

Cohen's works quickly. Make the commitment for yourself. Improve your life. Cohen's dosen't stop you from eating what you want - it just stops you from doing it NOW. you will be able to go back and have a lifestyle later..... However NOW is the time for your body to lose the weight.

As Kristine says "Start, Continue, Finish" or Lessfatty's "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels"

Both are true. I have lost over 35kg so far on this program. just be organised and show a bit of self discipline and you will achieve your goals.

Good luck and we are all cheering for you!

Default Help Please!!!!!

My advice is take it a day at a time. Deviations leads to being on the program for longer. You don't say how much you have to lose. I have to lose about 50kgs. That's about 6-7 months. I'm on week 9 and the finish line looks so far away - but I'm focused on now. Breakfast this morning. What I'll have for lunch etc. Each meal is my primary focus. Making sure I follow my plan.

Think about how easy it was for your first month. 12kgs lost - when was the last time you were able to lose that amount in such a short period of time.

If you need inspiration, jump on this forum. It's my daily addiction. I love reading about what everyone else is achieving. It makes it all the more do-able when you know that other people, like yourself, are achieving such amazing results. And the struggles that they're going through as well. It keeps it real.

Be conscious of the next meal you put in front of you. Focus and stay strong. Get back on it. If you have to, tell yourself that this is the start. Re-evaluate your goals. And look at any before photos. (Keeps me on track)

All the best

MiniMe

Trust me hon, you feel like you're the only one but you're not. If you read the thread I've posted, I've done far worse. I gained back 4 kilos. I felt like all was lost. I def have to say the advice I've been given on here has helped and I've learnt that we're only human. It sucks big time to make mistakes but we cant do anything once the mistake is made so just move on and keep focusing. I have a very neurotic perfectionist with an all or nothing attitude. Dont splurge and eat everything in sight cause you had one choc biscuit which is what I used to do all the time. Im going to be taking it one meal at a time. Focus on getting upto lunch, upto dinnner and brush your teeth afterwards to signify you've finished eating. Also, I went to the doctors and he told me to take chromium tablets which assist in sugar cravings.
I'm taking it one day at a time and I hope you do the same!

you are definitely not alone Freshstart.... feel free to read my diary it might help in some way get you back on track.

What I've gone and done is worked out how much weight I need to lose, averaged it out at 2kg a week (based on last time's loss) and put that into a day by day record. I have an Excel Spreadsheet with 175 days marked on it. Each day I'm on Cohens I t ick a day off. It keeps me focused on how short a time this really is for eternal body balance.

I'm counting down my 175 days (give or take) ... only 173 left to go. If you'd like to join me feel free

Hey freshstart!

DOn't beat yourself up. Just get on top of it again. You need to focus on what you need to do. Deal with each day as it comes and when it is done and you have had no deviations, then give yourself a bit tick and move on to the next day. I have experienced the "falling off the wagon" thing and I know hoe hard it is to get back on. Try and remember how easy it was when you lost the first 12 kgs. Once you are back on and have gone 4 or 5 days, the cravings will go, you know it will, they did last time remember. Work hard and remember why you are doing this.

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to say thankyou so much for your words of encouragement and also your practical advice!

I am re-starting Cohens tomorrow, and will be hanging around this forum reading everything in sight to keep the motivation up!!! I will also weigh myself and post a ticker.

Again, thanks so much for taking the time to be supportive of me, it really means alot and has helped me to get into the "Cohens frame of mind"...

Hugs,
Kim

Don't feel so discouraged, changing old habits is not easy. I have tried and failed more times than I can remember. Some things that are helping me:
I keep hearing one mistake = 1 week and I want to do this as quickly as possible.
I went through all the bags of one day they will fit again clothes and arranged my favourites in descending size order in my wardrobe. I had forgotten about some really great skirts and a fab leather jacket that I can't wait to get back in to.
I typed my goal weight and when I want to achieve it by accross a recent photo and a photo taken about 6 years ago when I was a lot less. I have a copy on my wardrobe door, fridge, in my wallet and the dash of the car.
I spend some time each morning visualising myself losing weight and feeling confident. I imagine the looks on people's faces when they see me at my goal weight.
Hope some of these ideas can help you.
Keep at it
