Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
My question is as above. Does anyone have any advice on getting a new program? I know the last time i contacted my cohen clinic i was told i cld no longer pay $25 for a visit with my original program as i have gained more than 5kg. Initially my reaction was, i only have 10kg to lose so not paying whatever program now costs for only 10kg loss etc etc etc. Now my view has changed. I am seriously thinking of purchasing a new program as i have never managed to get back to goal with my old one and i know my blood chemistry has changed as i now have high cholesterol. My blood pressure is also up and i know my hormones must be seriously out of whack which is no doubt why i find weight loss tough now. Anyway, i only have 10kg to lose but think its worth paying the money if it works and i get my slim healthy fit body back! Any advice etc most welcome. My plan is to contact my clinic on Monday and get started within the next 2 weeks. I feel more at peace having made this decision almost as tho "I am coming home" to Cohens and a more balanced life. Re: Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
Oh well, looks like no one can offer advice on this one! So, it seems i may as well volunteer to put the theory of an entire new program to the test. It is truly worth it if i can get back to an ideal goal weight, do REFEED PROPERLY this time (oops maybe thats why i have had problems maintaining, duh!) and when all goes according to plan, maintain with effortless ease for life.
So, why is it one has such a wonderful idea on a Friday night and then has to wait all weekend for the clinic to re-open? Probably to make sure i have thought it thru rather than spur of moment. One thing for sure, i am hugely better mentally equipped this time around and can see that the first cohen program (for me) was almost like a dress rehearsal for the main event! Oh how exciting for me! P |

Hehe.... Hi Pandora,
I reckon you chose the wrong time to put the question - weekends are QUIET, darl !! Later tonight, there might've been takers Quote:
Meanwhile, check in later tonight, as Sunday evenings often "pick up" quite a bit, Koh

Re: Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
Hi Pandora
I am in exactly the same place as you...... my hubby & I are going to the Clinic at 5.30pm tomorrow after work to see the information seminar then my hubby will join for the first time and me, well sad to say.... but I will be doing it for a second time. I am disappointed at myself for not finishing (I even got my refeed and maintenance programs!!). But I think my head space wasn't right at the time. So this time round I will succeed and look forward to seeing my new shrinking body. So I guess I will keep you posted on my journey and I'd love to hear all about your success story. We are strong and we can do this. Mind over matter. Cheers Jeanne

Re: Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
Thanks Koh and ys i know the forum is quieter on weekends but also know that my topic is not a "mainstream" cohen problem for others to answer. When i started cohens and then discovered the forum in Aug 2007, there were a lot less people on here and a lot less success stories. I know i have benefited more recently from reading some of the incredible journeys of people who have succeeded with 10kg to over 50kg losses over the past say 18 months while i have gained (I know i only have 10kg to lose) and that inspires me to go back to the basics and do a new program 100% with a weekly clinic visit.
And well done you Jeannie and yr hubby for making that appointment for today - i will ring my clinic when it opens at 10am today so we should be starting our new programs around the same time - we can compare our new experiences all the way to beyond refeed. I know i have been uncomfortable gaining weight and trying to lose it with other methods, so I say if there is any discomfort getting to the cohens zone and getting these hormones rebalanced, at least the end result will be amazing! Re: Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
I phoned the clinic in Adelaide today (there is a clinic 30mins closer but Shellebelle told me it was closing down). I had a wonderful chat with the lady there. She said of course my 2 yr old program wont work as of course my blood chemistry is so different and yes others in my position get a new program and get the weight off again and yes, this is the best bit .... since i only have 10kg to lose, it will be gone in a flash!
She also scoffed at WW and how soul destroyingly slow it can be. Anyway, the closer clinic is still open for at least another 6 months but not open again until Wednesday so - thats my day! Julie at ADL reckons its not too busy for now so i will get an appointment on Wed, blood tests Thurs and shld start my program Thurs 1st October! How exciting! I dont intend to do a Pre Cohen thing but i will follow my WW plan from now until then. Last time i did cohens 100%, i had eaten out, drank wine each eve, tried all the foods i was giving up (most of which i havent gone back too!) in the week between sign up and program, i made myself feel quite sick! Dont intend to do that this time, just a healthy balanced moderate carb WW week of eating so at least my weight stays the same or drops slightly until my official start date! And I will have Jeanne and her hubby joining me (as per post above). Pandora |

Re: Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
HI Pandora,
Have just seen your post now. I am a different position to you as I lost 60kgs and then my body was telling me it was time for refeed. I was very concerned because I was actually over 10 kgs from my goal weight as set by Cohens. I beleive tghat my programme stopped working for me because my body chemistry had changed so much. This is definitely not a complaint about that - how wonderful that my body was changing. I needed to complete and have some time integrating. Which I am currently doing. My body is adapting and I am getting used to my new body. I don't know if I wish to loose more or am happy to stay as I am. Seem to be maintaining at this weight well. When and if I decide to go lower I will definitely pay for another plan. This was always in my options of ways to proceed. I consider the money I have paid a very small investment for something that has so totally changed my life. Most people, including me, would gladly pay more for a holiday. What a small cost to change my life. So well done in making your decision and may you be totally successful on this, your new plan. Please follow through with refeed and maintenance guidelines as then you have given yourself that best possible chance of keeping your weight stable. Shanara

Re: Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
Hey Pandora
I am soooo excited for you and for us (my hubby and I). We went to the seminar last night, I am really glad that we went. We had the same lady Rosemary do the seminar as to the first time I went but this time either Rosemary has redefined what the speil is or maybe this time from my experience I picked up different bits and pieces. Really useful. If you get the opportunity to sit in on a seminar it is well worth it. We signed up last night the both of us and we both fasted last night so we went off and had our blood test last night. Ya ya ya. I can't wait to get our prorams. Goodluck for tomorrow, I am sure you will be in the same boat as me, super excited. Let me know how you go and I will keep you updated as to when I get my new program. Glad we found each other so we can be there for each other. Take care. Cheers Jeanne

Re: Anyone had success with a new program after weight gain?
Yes Jeanne me too, so excited at the prospect of a new program and so getting the "let food be your medicine" fact this time! I am more than happy to listen to whatever info they give me as i want to know as much of the science as i can.
Congratulations Jeanne and hubby for having yr b tests down already! All going well i will have mine tomorrow altho i start work at 9am so will have to have life organised to take my daughter to school etc first. I dont have an appointment yet but the lady at ADL clinic said just to phone at 10am and they will fit me in (I work until 1pm anyway) and she is one of the two ladies who work at the other clinic but it will probably be her today - i havent met her, the other ladies at my clinic are no longer there but this lady and the other lady have been with ADL clinics for a long time - plenty of experience and vey encouraging of my 10kg - she said it will happen fast! Woohoo! Jeanne do you have a diary? I couldnt find it but i did see you were close to refeed over a year ago. How much do you have to lose this time and hubby? Oops, gotta go get ready for work!
