Lightbulb Maintaining weight and accountablility for life!

POST REFEED ACCOUNTABILITY

As I am closing in on my refeed days I feel it would be beneficial to have a thread for those who choose to register / and have graduated to come to one place for ongoing accountability. From what I have seen oft times people get through program, do great in refeed and then blast off into life and resume old bad habits. Cohens is not a flash in the pan fixit and then forget it.

It is a program that empowers us with skills and insights to maintain at a healthy weight range now - FOR LIFE!

From my understanding the longer you can stay within 2-3kg of your goal weight the more chance you have of maintaining that long term. Hence the support mechanism of this added accountability.

So for those who choose - if you register your interest to participate and every 1st and 3rd Thursday write your Cohens goal range and your current weight. Ie: .

Cohens Goal range - 58kg to 61kg
Current weight - 60.1kg

This will force each of us to address issues quickly if we happen to have had a major slip n slide.

So come on and join me and allow the team to continue supporting you to a happy healthy body for the long term. Cheers Narelle

Hi Narelle,

I embarked on the Cohen journey in Jan 2010 and lost about 13.2kg in three months or so. I mostly kept the weight off since until recently due to immense stress and grieving. Here I am once again on August 2018, older, wiser and heavier...

Ha Ha - I knew you would be in LB. You make sure those steel capped boots are polished and shiny ready for the first VKA. Well thats if I ever get out of refeed now Have hit a speed bump. I'll probably be the first to need the VKA - especially after cruising. So hence the thread - as much for me as anyone else, definitely do not want to go awol from the forum cause I am feeling guilty. Having the accountability scheduled will force me to own up!!!! yikes - what have I created????

Also Littlemiss - great to have you. Look at your weights - Congratulations on maintaining so well. 3 months later and still below your Cohen goal weight. Dont worry - we'll be reminding you if you dont show up on the scheduled dates.

M&N - This will happen for you now sooner than you think. You'll soon be enjoying the refeed food smorgasboard and then come on over here with the rest of us.

Pommiegirl - Yep, you'll be sent straight to the corner with your doughnut if you play up in here. We've gotta do whatever it takes to support each other down the straight n narrow.

Oooo - so exciting to be entering the next phase. Hugs Narelle

Hey Missy. That'll be great to have you join me when you are back on target. I am a bit of a loner at the moment. I suspect when you (as in all of us) only post in your own diary it is easy to faze out without any one noticing. Like the 10kg or 20 kg club it is rather obvious if you don't appear for accountability days. Hence the "post refeed accountability".

Only for those serious about maintaining for the long term. We haven't all worked hard for how ever long and then as fast put all the weight back on. I would like to think we can offer support for each other to maintain over the long term. The longer we can stay at a base weight I believe the more chance of your body accepting that weight and staying within that range.

Cant wait to have you join me. Tis lonely at the moment. But I see the 10kg & 20 kg club is doing great so will have some of them join me for sure just down the track.

Cheers Narelle

Hi Deelight, I will join you not tomorrow but the next Saturday.I am looking forward to having another club to be accountable in as I am a bit in fear and trembling at the moment with whether or not I will break out when I finish refeed.I am in a strange frame of mind at the moment so hopefully in another week I will be back to normal. Thanks for making the club available to all who feel the need of it or indeed anyone who qualifies and just wants the friendships to continue as they maintain. It's a scary place out there in freedom land.

Hi Narelle
I'm in here as a serious maintainer. I would have posted on the 20th (of each month) which is my end of maintenance date (first mth - Aug - was good as I was just under start of maintenance and refeed weight, but will need to delay this mths report for a week until I get my scales back. I can tell though that my fav jeans are hugging me tighter.
I look less scrawny though a couple of kg heavier, and am pleased to have pinched a couple of kgs to my goal with the new BMI age factored in to give me something to play with. I just want to settle down now and forget about food.

But, just to sound like a totally confused crackpot - I have to say I feel better a couple of kgs lighter (remember the flat belly/gut postings info??).

I guess it is all about how you feel and not how you look. Just have to get my head comfortable with that.

Hey Narelle

Glad we kicked this one back into touch

Can I suggest though that we base it on maintenance start weights as some people don't make it to cohens goal range because they do refeed earlier? (Like me for instance!!)

My stats today:
Started maintenance 15 July 2010: 64.3kg
Today's weight (2 months and one week since starting maintenance): 65.4kg
1.1kg over maintenance start weight.

I have used reset as needed (but wine forms part of my allowed carbs on my own modified version of rest! I don't plan on letting my weight slide high enough to have to eliminate wine )

My modified reset also does not follow the number and spacing of crackers rules as it only results in me getting IBS. So, I eat crackers when I am hungry and as many as I need to. Am listening to my body - so far it is working!

Off to PT at 2.30pm and will do a dance workout before then

Oh and I was wondering if anyone would mind if we changed the title of the thread to something about Maintenance rather than post refeed? I like the focus of the word maintenance and it may draw in more participants??

Hi Jlou and absolutely AND like me. I did not make it down to the selected Cohen range but my body was announcing loud and clear that enough was enough.

Not a problem to change the name - the name doesnt matter - the results / accountability is what this was created for and long term success of maintenance as you suggest. So go for it.

My weight results
02.09.10 weight 64.8kg
09.09.10 weight 64.2kg
16.09.10 weight 64.8kg
23.09.10 weight 64.8kg.

Very happy with my thursdays result after a huge weekend with family and constant food celebrations happening.
