Default How important is certain foods?

I have a couple of food allergies, some I can eat some I can't at all. Onion and garlic give me a really sore throat, so I keep away, but I can eat them occasionally.

Avocado, mushroom, banana are no-can-do foods. They all give me the worst stomach cramps, which have me doubled over for over 12 hours in pain.

Oranges I can't have, they give me a version of hives.

I've seen mushrooms mentioned a lot here and elsewhere and I'm just wondering how important they are?

Well, if you have read your program, you'll know that you can't have avocado and banana anyway. No foods are really more important than others, although it's a good idea to make sure you get enough iron (i.e. your spinach and red meat). The important thing to remember is health first, so if there are foods you are allergic to, you avoid them. Simple as that. And if there is something that you're not getting enough of - i.e. if you are allergic to foods that are high in iron, you can get those minerals as vitamin supplements.

Mette that's a good way of putting it - I think you have hit the nail on the head with your answer.

I did find that after about 70 kg disappearing thanks to Cohens I completely changed a with regards to some types of allergy that I had had for years.

I think as your whole system will completly detox your body of fat which stores the poisions, your whole metabilism changes thus your body becomes normal and tolerent to foods that previously were a big no no !!!

Thank you for the replies.

Mette, I mentioned in my intro post, I'm not on the programme, so I don't know anything about it. I'm trying to find out information before I waste everyone's time by signing up.

I only asked because I'd seen people mentioning certain foods a lot, especially mushroom.

Thanks for taking your time.

Hey Staffy.. you can go to clinic intro evenings where you can have a look at 'sample' programs.. for want of a better word (am tired & cant think straight).. the vegie lists are for you to pick & choose from.. although not ideal, some people will find the one vegie they like & eat only that one.. same with the fruit..

Hope that helps.

Hey Saffy

Don't stress about the mushies, I hate them, haven't eaten them, have no intention of ever eating them .

As Mette said you can't have avo or bananas anyway.

Onion and garlic are completely optional. I didn't really have either until a couple of weeks ago and it didn't do me any harm.

I think going to an info session at the clinic would help you make a decision. There are options on Cohen's, no foods that you simply have to eat.

Take care

Jo

also if you have food allergies if and when you decide to sign up to the do program, let your consultant know what allergies you have.
