On Monday I was in the shop and compared it with the one I normally get and and on the label of contents it was very high in sugar. I don't think it had a fat free one either in natural - plain is flavoured by sugar I think.

My shopping list also lists the brands of yogurt and the following -
NO flavours
Low Fat or Fat Free
Less than 2% fat

I also stick with the bottom bit - IF IT'S NOT ON THE LIST, YOU CANNOT HAVE IT YET!

Okay - this one I have is no-fat and has less sugar than the Vaalia one...

I've finished the refeed so it's not technically that important (for me) but wondering for friend as well...

well - you are on a winner - in the shop I was in they had at least 15 different brands of yoghurt - they do make it hard - but our local shop doesn't have any low fat stuff so I only see it when away - just have to keep reading the small print - the bit they don't want you to read sometimes !!!

yeah I reckon! This was black swan brand and I honestly hadn't even seen a lowfat greek yog before this. It was a choice between that and a Nestle one that was 3 times the price - I have had it before and wasnt too excited...

I've been eating the Black Swan 'Low fat' natural yogurt (not the no fat), and I hope its ok, because its much better than the other yogurts. I've finally found a yogurt that I dont need to add fruit or sweetner to, and its really thick and creamy. You can turn your spoon upside down and it doesnt fall off!!
I think the Black Swan natural yogurts must be pretty new because I only saw them last week for the first time.

This is straight off their web site -

Low Fat Traditional Greek Style Yoghurt

Thick and creamy low fat Greek style natural yoghurt

Nutritional Information
Serving size: 100g

Per
Serving Per
100g
Fat Total 3.0 g (3%)

My book says it must be under 2.0 g (2%)

And as I said below my shopping list has in capital letters -

IF ITS NOT ON THE LIST, YOU CAN'T HAVE IT YET

Black Swan is not on the list - so is a deviation I would think !!!!!!!!!!!! and its over 2%.

Just remember to get the best out of this you need to be %100 true to you and the program - its only for a little tiny fraction of your life. Try something else for breakfast - if you bend the rules for yoghurt where to you stop - slip a few other dry hard biscuits in as well and a red capsicum and a green squash or two and finish with an apricot tea to wash it down - its your choice and in some ways is more than likely part of the big picture and discipline of the mind to hopefully re programme you and your mind and your body to a newer and better lifestyle.

Food for thought over the glorious weekend we are about to have !!!

Andy

you are very passionate Andy! Good on you!!

I have actually discovered that I love the Jalna and even tho' I thought black swan greek was cheaper it wasn't...

I'm not on the eating plan anymore so I wasn't deviating... ....and I agree with you...don't have it if you are on the list. I am trying to stick with items on the list as my everyday foods so that I maintain my wonderful weight.

So it is bye-bye Greek style and hello Jalna (can't believe I like it could've had it all the time on the program...also discovered I like honeydew & pawpaw post program d'oh!!)

Hi Everyone,

Andy, you've been talking about the Black Swan Traditional Low Fat Greek Style Yogurt and I fully agree with what you were saying about the nutritional figures.

But Black Swan also have a no fat Greek style yogurt which is the one I think Glassangle was talking about. I had a look on their website and it doesnt appear but I have seen it at our local Woolies. Since its not on the website, Ive just given them a call and the nutritional info is as follows:

Black Swan NO fat Traditional Greek Style Yogurt - values per 100g serve.
Energy 270kj
Protein 7.3g
Max fat 0.15g
sat fats less than 0.1g
Carbs: 7.7g
Sugars: 5.5g
Sodium: 100mg
Calcium: 290mg

Compared to the Vaalia low fat yogurt (per 100g serve) which seems to be a favourite of Cohenites:
Energy 334kj
Protein 6.0g
Fat Total 1.9g
Sat fat: 1.2g
Carbs: 8.7g
Sugars: 8.7g
Sodium: 100mg
Calcium: 215mg

Just thought it was interesting. I havent tried the Black Swan but I think I will next time I have yoghurt.

Nat

Hi Shinkme,

Have you tried cooking your apple in sprite with cinnamon?

apple add sprite to cover it and add som cinnamon (you might have to add some sweetner)
You boil the mixture till it evaporates, cool then add to your yogurt. You might better off leaving it over night till you get use to the taste

I've been eating the Swan No fat yoghurt and I love the thickness of it. It doesn't seem to separate and go watery at the end of the container like the Paris low fat one does either. I use either a kiwi fruit or half an apple with cinnamon finely chopped. I don't find it needs sweetener, the fruit is enough. Cinnamon is a fat loss aid recommended by most naturopaths too.

hello everyone,
i've been following this yoghurt discussion with great interest.
initially i started with Jalna - had to use sweetener with it.
then moved on to Vaalia after reading on the Forum it was much creamier.
it was, but i still used sweetener.

THEN, tried Pauls Natural which was thicker and really good, had mango with it so needed no sweetener.

Branching out even further, i then tried - can't remember the brand but it's natural European style no fat with green text on a white background - that was definitely good but Pauls was still better...

BUT after reading this particular post i bought the Black Swan Greek no fat - and it's a WINNER!!

this morning i had Vaalia mixed with Black Swan and it was truly gorgeous. really truly.
