Exclamation Keratosis Skin Condition?!

Hi All!!
I've been wondering if anyone knows or identifies with the skin condition Keratosis?? Its a common rash-like red skin condition, which is not serious but makes the sufferer feel self-conscious. I have recently developed it
( for about a year now, funnily enough mostly in colder months) and was wondering if anyone knows if the Cohen program can ease symptoms or entirely cure this annoying condition?

Any info at all would be great, including any general treatments people have found to be helpful.?!

Thanks guys and gals!!!!

C

Have you checked this thread out, New-Cel http://newyouforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5249? I don't remember if anyone has mentioned it, but if not it's more than likely you will be able to report positively in the thread a bit further along.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Hi Newcel,
Have you seen a natropath regarding this condition? I have had excema for a long time and started seeing an accupuncturist at the beginning of this year. He has helped me to no end. He gets you to use food as your medicine the same way as this program. My skin has never been better and I am so in tune with what helps or hinders its progress. The problem I have found though is I cant eat a lot of the fruits on the program so I am living on apples. Not a bad thing really.

The great thing about Cohens is you are only eating fresh foods so its a great detox. Your skin is your biggest organ so a detox can only do it good.

My skin flared up for the first few days and it has now settled down. You will notice that the recovery time for your skin is faster when you do have a flare up.

Good luck with it.

Hi NC
am answering because I was wondering the same thing this morning, but not strictly Keratosis... Since being on Cohen's my scalp psoriasis has all but gone ! In under 6 weeks. I am truly amazed.
I never had a problem before with dandruff or keratosis, so not sure if this is going to help you. But it has def helped clear up any psoriasis I had (may be similar?)
Cheers,
Ruby

Thanks annabel joy, Ronky and New Ruby for the great responses!!!!

Yeah I really have found that the repair time has increased from flare ups since being on the prep for Cohen's.

I start tomorrow. yayeee!!! I have found a cream that eases the symptoms, its Aesop tangerine aND sandalwood, fantastic. But doesn't make it completely go away. Also, its not good but a bit of sun also makes it completelty go away..this is not really an option as I've been burn't on the shoulders too many times and try to keep out of the sun..

Oh well, thanks for the great feedback everyone,, will keep everyone posted!!!!!!

Hi Newcel,

I just thought I would give you some tricks and tips for helping out your skin. What I have found that I have to avoid and some of them will make you cry but they have helped me to no end. These are all cohens foods that I cant touch. No point putting the others down!!!

Youghart, Prawns , Capsicum, tomatoes, grapefruit, Lemon, Orange, Mandarin and the worst thing is you have to limit Mango!!

My basic rule of thumb is if its hurts when I touch it it will hurt the inside as well. Its easier for me as its on my hands so I can tell if it stings or not. You will get looked at if you start rubbing prawns on your back!!

The other things I have been doing is drinking green tea with food rather than cold water. Warm drinks are easier on your body's digestive systems so helps it flush. Drinking at least 3 litres of water a day, I also take a liver tablet that helps the body to process and a fish oil tablet. I used to take 3 but on the program Im taking 1.

Also try to avoid too much chilli and spice powders like curry. I still eat it however if I have 3 days of chilli my skin will flare up. I hope this is also the case with mango. I had it 3 days in a row and I could hardly bend my fingers. Now that its gone down Im going to try again but only have it every so often. its so hit and miss with skin problems and I can feel your frustration. Everybody is different and I have tried and tested a lot of stuff to work out what I need.

Good luck I hope it all calms down for you.

It seems to be getting better every day, which is awesome.

Congrats Newcel. Thats great.

Let me know how you go with testing food for your skin. You have to give it a good go and stay off the foods for at least a few days to give your skin time to recover. It will be interesting to see if keratosis is inflamed by the same things that excema is.

Well done on day 1 deviation free. I have been deviation free since starting officially and lost 3.4kgs in my first week and was sick which apparently creates fluid.

Good luck

Hey Ronky,
Ok I'm going to try cutting out those foods for four days, starting next week as I've just made egg 'muffins' (from the awesome cohen cookbook) with tomato to have for dinners this week. They look great by the way if anyone is thinking of trying them.

Hey Ronky, love your quote.

I'll let you know what happens with the skin.
