Default What to feed my family ??

Hi, I havnt recieved my programme yet, so im not sure if it will be suitable to feed my family the meals that I eat or not ??? I have 5 kids, aged 6mths, 3 yrs, 14, 15, and 17 ??? and a husband who is a farmer, who works looonnnggg hours and needs a really good meal at the end of the day ( but would happily loose about 10 kg )..... I really dont want to be cooking 2 different meals.. and am hoping I will be able to just add a few extra things to their meals ???

Thanks once again for the help

karen

Hi Karen,

I asked the same question just over a week ago before i received my plan as well. I have a couple of kids and hubby to cook for. I have been planning my meals and getting them ready during the day and then cooking their meal as I would at night. Others have suggested cooking one meal and then increasing the amount of meat and also adding potato etc for the family.

I have found that the easiest thing for me is to cook as normal and for the family and cook my meal seperate. You have to weigh everything that you are eating so your meal will always be seperate, and at one point or another they are going to want spaghetti or some type of pasta so embrace the fact and get organised - this is the key.

Check out the list of items that will make your life easy and follow the suggestions and you will in turn find it not difficult at all, I haven't yet

I was lucky most I already had

- digital scales
- perm. marker pen
- small zip lock bags for freezing

I was already purchasing my meat in bulk now I just portion my meat out into the bags for freezing and then 30secs in the microwave to defrost.

GOOD LUCK

Thanks Lindy

It certainly sounds like organisation is the most important thing.... I am pretty good most of the time, but gone are the days of grabbing fish and chips on the way home !!! I think alot of the time I will be able to cook my family the same as me, maybe with a potato or something, but, yes, alot of the time it will have to be 2 seperate meals !! My husband is pretty keen to loose a bit of weight too, so he will probably eat what I do for a while anyway ???

Thanks for the tips, and well done on your weight loss !!

Regardless if your family eat's the "same" meal you will have to cook your own separate. I cook mine separate and then my familes after. I am dreading when my husband starts as I will have to cook mine his and the kids so currently I cook twice at breakfast, lunch and tea.

It just comes with the sacrifice of Cohen's I am afraid. The weights have to be exact!
hope it goes well for you.

Organisation sure is the key.. I cooked different meals for the whole 12 months I was on the program & I still do it now.. in fact I cook 3 different meals now as my daughter is now on the program.. my other family memebers eat Cohen's type foods a lot of the time too, but just more of it.. But because I still weigh everything it's all done seperately.. You just have to make sure you have all the ingredients you need in advance.. if you want to be extra organised do a weekly shop & cut, weigh & label everything.. it's easy then.

Hi Karen67
Yes I understand I also faced this problem.
I have all my portions of veg weighed in seperate takeaway containers with the weight of veg and the weight of meat on top.Pre cut all my meat and weigh/mark/freeze.(Just take out of freeze when your ready zap it and cook.
Cook as normal for the rest of the family I also cook mine sep at same time(hubbys in the oven for when he gets home,I know all about those loooong hours)
If I am going out I have my tuna salad packed for the day in the esky.
I am going to get a little more game and try some more recipes from the book this week.
Hope this helps
Jimbo
