Default New and wanting to join

I am new here and wanting people to say how they really feel!! I have been on a few diets and loose weight but put it all back on again. I was on a naturopath diet called ultra lite ( which cohens seems to be very similar) I had lost 14kgs but got bored and cheated then cheated more and lost it!! Cost wise was expensive and now that has gone down the drain!!! So I havent decided what to do yet. All the info here seems great but is it really? Its alot of money if you cant stick to something!!Please can someone reassure me this is going to be the one!!! I would just love to be a size 12 instead of 18!!!

It really does work. I never ever thought I would lose the weight... But I am currently a size 14 and when I started I was a size 20-22! and beofre that I was a size 26! PLUS.... so YOU CAN DO THIS.... and that link really has some great stuff to read!!!

All I can say is that I have tried lots of other diets, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Gloria Marshall you name it I have done it. I was seriously considering lap band sugery....but this diet is SO DIFFERENT to anything I have done before, not only is it RAPID but the unexpected happened that I began to get a sense of wellbeing, and this diet is so easy to stick to and amazingly I DONT FEEL DEPRIVED (unlike anything I have done before). In the past I only had to 'think' about going on a diet and I would want chocolate and fried fatty foods, I felt deprived and miserable and to top if off my efforts at the end of a week on strict WW would be a loss of 500gms. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and am down 8 kilos, yes 8 kilos! That would have taken me 6 months to loose (that is if I stuck to anything for 6 months). This is such an amazing diet, clear skin, vitality, good sleep (people with insomnia now saying that they sleep like never before) and best of all there are NO CRAVINGS, no feelings of DEPRIVATION, and no hunger (other than the first few days). Yeh sure there are temptations and that is part of life but seriously this is the best gift you can give yourself!

I guess its because all the hormones are level, insulin is constant and serotinin is high - makes life so much easier, all you have to do is eat the food! and not really think or crave or whine for other foods

Goodluck in making your decision, if you read some diaries you will get the drift!

Hey Mel,

You have come to the right place, I think everyone in the beginning after first hearing about Cohens thinks that how is this different to any of the other diets that i have been on.

Firstly this really does work and it works really well if you are willing to comitt yourself 100%.

Secondly it is really easy unlike many other programs this program is black and white in terms of what we can and can't have.

Thirdly after you get through the detox you don't feel hungry and you don't even feel the need to have those naughty things that we used to treat ourselves with.

Fourthly and most importanly this program teaches you a lot about food and your relationship with food and forces you to face the reasons that we used to eat. For instance I am an emotional eater and when I had a bad day or something crap happened I would eat to make myself feel better. Being on this program has made me see why I ate and also to deal with the issues head on. Knowing this you can better equip yourself for when you return to "real life" outside of the cohen's program.

I hope that this helps, look forward to reading about what you decide and your progress

I think thats got to do with our 'brainwashing' about rapid weight loss all I can say is that i don't feel sick in fact i feel the healthiest i have been in years - great, bouncy, jumping off the walls! and I am loosing $#%@loads of weight at the same time....now I can't work out the scientific stuff I just know that if it feels good...just do it!

Its not a blonde moment just disregard that question as I didnt know what i was doing!!! Only new here and wasnt sure how to do all this. You may be able to help me with that ticker thing u all have though. Where do u get it and how to put it here etc

Welcome and I can honestly say this program works very well so long as you are prepared to commit and be 100% - no mucking about - just 100% committed and 100% to following the program to the letter every day until you finish.

I think alot of people are "brainwashed" into thinking that rapid weight loss is a no no and the weight will come back on quicker than it left. But understand this in not "just" a diet it is a "way of life" You cannot go back to eating the way you did/do now. Oh not saying you won't be able to have the things you really want after. BUT you will learn what to eat and what to give up when you want something of the so called bad food.
On refeed you will find out what makes you gain weight and then either avoid that or have it then go non carbs for a day or two to lose what you put on.
You and only you can decide if this is right for you and if your ready to commit. It works but you have to "want to"
I wasn't sure it would work for me but I soooo wanted to lose the weight and when hubby put out the money I had to at least try.
All it took for me was to see the weight nearly falling off and I was "hooked", determined to continue and lose all the weight.
I am nearly at goal..... the weight loss has slowed down but is still moving down. Makes it hard at times but I see clothes I have bought or dug out (I am wearing daughters winter coat she wore in 5th grade) soo how cool is that.

Yes this diet/program works you just have to have the "want to" to see it thru.

97% of the general public are fooled into thinking that weight loss has to be slow and has to be accompanied with many hours of exercise. Take the 10,000 steps per day scenario... honestly in a "normal" day, the average person only does 3,000 - 5,000 steps. If you've got the time and the extra bank debit dollars then the marketing ploys will try to convince you to join that gym, go for that jog, put excess strain on your joints and heart. Yes this programme helps you to lose the weight faster than most others but unlike other programmes, there is structure, there are no shakes, it's all 100% healthy food, and the best thing is that it's noticeable the very next day. Save your pennies from the gym, take a light stroll to your local dvd store and start becoming the new slim couch potato and let your beauty sleep do the weight loss work out for you.

Mel I did something like Ultralite (protien shakes) etc and I lost 23 and then put on 43.
I like Cohens because the really focus on the transition at the end - the refeed program.

At day 14 I had lost 5.5 kgs.

This program is worth the $$

Hi Mel

I hope you decide to join up as this is the greatest thing that has ever happened to my life. ALways being 'big', you just accept that is the way it is. But I made the decision that I wanted to have more energy, live a longer and happier life and I am now doing it. I use to wear size 26, big and baggy and now size 12-14 and loving walking into 'normal ' clothes shops. I still have a few kgs to go but I am nearly there. Remember if you do deviate, give into temptation, or just have one of those moments in life where the demons call, do not beat yourself up. It happens ( though some people are fantastic at being 100% - not me unfortunately!!!) and you just move on, don't feel guilty and try harder not to deviate again.

Started 18th April 2007 at 113.5. Was 115kg at largest. lost 42kgs (from heaviest weight)got to 72.5kgs. Have struggled & put on 4kgs during silly season (wedding ann,christmas,new year holidays).Now focused to get to refeed by end of Feb.

Thanks for all the encouragment everyone, it seems to me that everyone here are all positive about this diet maybe I think to negative about everything!!! I really want to do this but cant start to the new year as I am going camping for three weeks with my family on a beach where their is no electricity or toilets etc etc so i think it would be very hard to follow such a diet where you need to weigh everything etc etc. So I will be trying my hardest to start being healtheir while Im away.

Hi Mel,

One thing not mentioned here is that if you go on any diet and lose weight - which is what you'll do on Cohens - there is nothing stopping you from putting it all back on if you go back to old eating habits once finished.

You are the only one who will be able to keep the weight off when you're finished. It is not a miracle cure just a weight loss program. The rest is up to you. It will teach you lessons along the way like portion sizes, healthy eating and feeling great while eating the right food. But you will have work to do to maintain your new body. If thats not possible nothing will work.

Hi Everyone
Thanks for all the replies. I have made the decisission to join. I wont be doing it to the new year as I am going away next Saturday for three weeks and dont think it would be very wise to start something so strict while on holidays. So in the new year around the 2nd week I will be finally on the road to a new healthy and trim me!!! Thanks again. Have a great Christmas and New Year!!

Probably be best to wait till the New Year when you get back. Be hard to do this while camping. Maybe back off of some of the sweets,bread and stuff so it won't be as hard when you come back home.
Or look at it as your last imdulgence for a while.
