Default protein mixing

hi guys
just wondering about protein mixing.. on my last refeed i could mix proteins really easily because two of my meal choices included an egg, so i could have breakfast and lunch, then add an egg to my dinner which was easy.

this time round it is a little harder, and im wondering if it is a necessity to mix proteins everyday.. like i was thinking maybe the last 2 days of my refeed i could just not mix them, if i have been for every other day i am allowed to? it does say "you may now mix proteins.." not "you MUST now mix proteins..".. i find it easy to mix proteins when im still adding old protein.. with new protein, since im mainly adding new seafood, and a bit of lamb.. im finding it easier to add some tinned tuna than to go buy 20g of beef.. argh its all a bit much, certainly a bit harder to mix them all and get my head around it than last time for some reason. i do intend to mix in maintenance if all goes well.. i dont seem to be affected badly by mixing them so far..

just wondering what the general consensus is?

thanks xx

Hi hopeful,

You have to follow your plan 100% in what it says.

So when you have to add new protein to your old protein, that is what you have to do.

Also from memory (?) you could NOT add to egg or yogurt.

Hello Hopeful,

Having finished refeed and now successfully in wk 4 of maintenance, I have to agree with Shell in saying that you should follow your plan 100%. I found that planning out my meal amounts (veg and protein) 3 days in advance really helped. I know it is so confusing adding and subtracting old and new protein and veg!

What I did was have small portions of beef, lamb, pork and chicken strips in ziplock sandwich bags in the fridge and would mix all of them ie. for lunch I would mix beef (old protein) and pork (new) and for dinner chicken (old) and lamb (new). Buying stir fry strips (from the supermarket) made it so much easier to add just the right amounts ie. 20/40/60gm at a time. So basically I just made stir fries for the whole of refeed.

Basically, organisation and planning is the key! I honestly believe that sticking to refeed 100% is the key to successful maintenance as it brings all of your hormones etc. to a normal state. I have basically hovered between 400g under and over my goal weight of 55kg with no trouble at all.

Refeed is only 17 or so days left of a long commitment on this diet so you may as well do it properly. Sorry to sound if I'm preaching. I'm just over the moon with the results of the programme and feel it's important to share why I think it's worked for me.

Good luck! Following the refeed plan is definitely confusing and takes a huge amount of planning but worth the effort in the long run.

All the best.

hi guys
thanks for your responses...
maybe you misunderstood though. im not saying i dont want to follow the program with adding new protein. im asking if i can NOT MIX proteins everyday, i.e. have salmon with my tuna. and yes i was told i could add to my egg meal, not to yoghurt as there is no veg allowance in a yoghurt meal.

obviously u cant add/minus yoghurt/cheese/egg meals but u can add to egg and cheese meals.

anyway thanks
lindy im doing it 100% like i always do. trust me im very committed. i just asked if i can choose to not mix proteins on one or two days, not change my refeed.

xx
