Default Lauren's Journey....

Hi I'm Lauren - you may have seen me posting on the welcome forum bursting with excitement.

A bit about me:
I'm 27 (turning 28 in April) - and am getting married in July - YAY!! I found Cohens through a Google search and am so glad that I did!

No matter what my weight (at 125kg I'm at my heaviest now) I have always being happy with the way I look and I have a gorgeous fiancé who loves me no matter what so it took a small health scare to get me to take action with my weight. I was having some minor chest pains at the start of the year (turned out to be cramping) but it scared me enough to kick my butt into action.

My goals are:
  • To become healthy
  • Increase my get-up-and-go-ness
  • Be able to walk up stairs without being out of breath
  • Be able to go skiing on my honeymoon
  • To have my fiancé be able to pick me up
  • To be able to shop in the 'normal' stores
  • To be able to wear high heals without my feet killing me
  • To be able to see my eyes when I smile in pictures
  • Be able to go on a plane without my fat spilling into the next seat (and not feel that people are watching me hoping they don't have to sit next to me)
  • To be healthy enough to get pregnant in a couple of years

My Cohen goal weight is 51-54kgs which scares me because I can't remember being under 80kgs in my adult life but I'll take it one day and see how my body adapts to the eating plan.

Day 1:

Day 1 has gone good - am deviation free and have drunk my 2 litres of water (a massive achievement for me because I'm really bad for drinking water). Have been a bit hungry tonight but am trying to keep busy to keep my mind off my grumbly tummy.

Welcome Lauren.

Well done on your first day, the first week is the hardest, but soon you'll find it pretty easy.

I look forward to watching you, in a non stalkerish way!!

Hey Lauren!

A wedding is a great motivator!

Good luck with the plan... I'll be here to cheer you along

The first week or so is definitely the hardest but then you lose your cravings and the Cohens way of eating kicks into habit!

Hello and Welcome!

I too have around 60 kilos to lose and am just a few months ahead of you! It's amazing and if I can do it so can you! I too was a bit anxious about whether I really could achieve such a loss and whilst I am not there yet I can clearly see that if I stick to my plan the weight is just going to keep coming off. It's great - I've never been successful in losing weight before so I'm super excited!

It is challenging at times but the trick is to stay positive, be kind to yourself and stay focussed on goal. I also reccomend experimenting with different food recipes from these forums. There's also this great facebook group from a Sydney chef and Cohenite who made amazing Cohen's meals whilst she did the program:

Cohen Meal Creations

These forums are full of great tips and reading diaries really helps me stay on track. Loads of advice and diaries from people who have done it all before. Plus there are loads of lovely people providing support every day!

I look forward to hearing more about your journey!

Hey Lauren!

You're the first fellow newbie I've found on this forum!

I started my Cohen's journey this year, and am currently on day 11! I absolutely love it that your goals are so clear-cut, and I'm sure you're going to do pretty awesome! Great job on day 1

Im 19, with 40 kgs to lose. My biggest aim is to go back to dancing (which I had to quit because of an injury that I sustained from being too heavy)!

We can do this!

So I was going to be all strong and only weigh once a week but this morning I really wanted to see how my first couple of days had gone so I hopped on the scales and they said I had lost 3.1kgs in 2 days!!! I don't know how thats possible but it definitley started my day off on an awesome note.

Oh heres a story to give you a laugh: I made a beautiful lunch today - grilled spiced chicken with a yummy zoodle/celery/tomato salad. Used new my pretty pink rock salt - went to use the new peppercorn grinder and the top fell off resulting in hundreds of peppercorns on the floor, table and my lunch! Took me ages to pick all the pepper corns out and needless to say my lunch had a very distinct pepper taste.

Starting to feel the detox - had a massive headache last night which was gone when I woke up but have had it back again since lunch time (blah) so I'm drinking lots of water (but then having to pee a lot lol) oh well just a sign that I'm getting rid of those evil toxins.

Wow 3.1kgs is great!! Congrats! Oh dear, what a pity about the lunch...but it sounds yummy! How did you make the grilled spiced chicken? My grilled chicken tastes pretty bland ><

You have to love the first few days/first week. The weight that comes of is so inspiring. It's usually mostly water weight that we hold and make us feel bloated, but it doesn't matter. Seeing the scales go down and feeling lighter in the body is great no matter the reason.

Keep peeing lots....the saying around here is - you're peeing your fat away. awesome start!!

Awesome loss Mb!!

Feels good huh?!! Yeh, it's just water weight, but it is still weight you were carrying around that you aren't anymore!!!

tee hee @your pepper lunch!! That happened to me when I was trying to make spicy calamari and the top fell off the salt grinder as I was doing it into the pan. I had to wash the cooked calamari... It was DISGUSTING. I could handle extra pepper, but salt was just *shudder*

Just realised I was very rude and didn't say thanks for all your lovely messages - so thanks guys! Feeling the love!

I work for a large government department but my finance team is made up of 8 lovely ladies - a few of us are on health kicks (different methods but same goals) so our whole team is going healthy for 3 months. Our lolly/choc jar is being replaced with a fruit bowl, decadent naughty morning teas will now be healthy yummy morning teas and we are all encouraging each other so I'm feeling the support from here, home & work

I must admit I've been struggling on my first weekend at home - at work I've been busy so my mind hasn't had time to wander to bad food city. But today....... I can't stop thinking about, and lusting for, movie popcorn (the one food I could eat forever and ever before Cohens)! I've been good and am still 100% on EP and water drinking but my stupid head is trying to take me into crazy town.

Anywho.... staying strong and waiting for Monday so I can get my official week 1 weigh in

Well done on the weight loss so far MB14! Yes it IS possible to lose that much so quickly!

I was terrified of weekends in the beginning. As a family we would go out for brunch both Saturday AND Sunday AND have takeaway on Saturday nights. I really didn't know how I would cope. It gets easier each weekend though, so know that this is the worst by far! Now, the weekends are just another day to me.

We still go out to brunch occasionally...I just have green tea

Can't wait to hear the results of your official weigh in!

Thanks guys! I must say I've been struggling to "keep my head in the game" these past couple of days - my boy had lasange for dinner last night and it smelt soooo good! I can own up to the shame and say that I leant over him to smell it but I didn't taste any so VICTORY!!!

Proud to say I'm 100% with my EP and water drinking

Well this morning was my official week 1 weigh in and I lost......4.9kgs!!! So theres my incentive right there to keep going. I'll get my boy to take my measurements tonight so I can see how many cms I lost.
