I'm reading Joyce Meyer's Look Good Feel Great.. I give it 5 out of 5 so far.. nearly finished it.. I've learnt so much about myself & why people do the things they do..

I recommend it fully to anyone, Christian or non Christian. (For those that don't know Joyce Meyer is a Chrisitan Minister.. that's why I wrote that comment )

I am reading "A life of unlearning - coming out of the Church: one man's struggle" by Anthony Venn-Brown.

It is an excellent read. It is about a man who was a preacher for the Assemblies of God (AOG)church. He was married with 2 children and was a successful preacher who spoke all over the world. But he was homosexual. he went through exorcisms, rehab programs and prayed to be "cured" of his homosexuality, but just couldn't be.

The thing I love about the book, is that while he left the church, he does not trash Christianity, or the AOG. he does talk about being disappointed that he did not receive their support at times in his life when he needed it, but he doesn't trash them. I believe he is still a Christian and sometimes attends church.

I love it because I am gay and not a christian but my sister is a Christian who attends Hillsong church and it has been a hard road for us. We love each other dearly and want to support each other but I can't go with her to a church that preaches that my love for another human being is a sin. Of course she wants me to go to heaven with her and to have a relationship with God.

Anyway, this book has been very interesting and I think Christians and non Christians would enjoy it.

Default What are you reading?

If I am not reading uni text books or my daughters childrens books I usually read Torey Hayden ( A retired teacher who writes about her special needs students) or Jodie Picoult or True stories of people life battles.
But at the moment I am reading a book called "chosen by a horse". So far I have only read two chapters and it is very sad, about neglect of horse's but apparently it is meant to be very inspiational.

OK, that's just sad...

I'm only reading three books at the moment...

The Victorian House, by Judith Flanders, which is a magnificent account of how houses in the Victorian Era were run and how families used them.

The Knife Man, by Wendy Moore, which is the biography of John Hunter, one of the first English Anatomists, it's astonishingly good.

And, last but definately not least, a book called Shakespeare, by Bill Bryson, which is the best biography of the Bard I've ever read. Very honest, no bull...

Connie, The Book Thief is an exceptional book, isn't it? My best friend, Fran, gave it to me for my Birthday, and I loved it. Did you know Zusak has a new book out???

I started reading "You can do it" by Paul Hanna last night, and I have found it to be a book that is very hard to put down.
I have a few mins to spare now, so I think I might get it out and pick up where I left last night

Red face

Am reading: "Read the Label" by Judy Davie... so as to arm myself with loads of good info for when I am done with the Cohen program.

It outlines all the added nasties in commonly purchased supermarket foods, including additives, colourings, preservatives; along with describing the 'best' choices in terms of the macronutirients and salt, suger, fat, GI & carb content of all major foods.

Is a bit mind boggling at first, but am taking notes, and hope to be able to make more informed, and healthier, choices if/when buying any non-fresh or packaged foods.

That's funny Jamanoha....I had that Paul Hanna book for years and only just read it through.....it's great....and the funny thing is , after all the publicity received by 'The Secret' ...which I also loved ....but I noticed that old Paul had touched on several of the themes of the Secret.......but a few years BEFORE !!!!! Interesting.....
I'm still going on 'The Road Less Travelled' which is great , but hard going.
Also Augusten Burroughs latest 'A Wolf at the Table'....

Isn't it funny how varied our reading is. I am reading "Queen Bees and Wanna Bees" by Rosalind Wiseman. Its about helping your daughter survive cliques, gossip etc. I have a 9yr old daughter and find these types of books always interesting. They also help me understand my past friendships etc. The book I read before this was "The Princess Bitchface Syndrome" by Michael Carr-Gregg this was great, anyone who has a daughter should read this.
Maybe the next book might be one for me?

I was thinking about buying this because I swear there are days that my 11yr old daughter has this syndrome! Very difficult. Thanks for the recommendation, I might have a look for it at Borders next time I'm there

Lily - I absolutely loved that book (You can do it), and I refused to get into the whole "The Secret" thing because it seemed a bit greedy to me(?) I dunno, I guess there seemed to be a lot of people focused on owning these huge homes and driving sports cars... seemed a little over-the-top for me, where as Paul Hanna's book has hit the spot I am definitely going to read some more of his books when I can.

I am currently reading The Iliad, Ben-Hur by Lew Wallace and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I knew that The Shack was popular, but I don’t know a whole lot about it. It sounds really good!

I have to say, have just finished the Twilight series (no I'm not a teenage girl) and am so darn tied on the program, that I'm not keen to start anything else.
I'd rather be asleep!
