3 Litres is optimal for a person. Drinking too much water is also a health hazard.
So limiting yourself to 3 litres would be the best way to lose weight easily too. Make sure you drink water before your meal. So it would make us feel full and that helps us .

It depends on your size and weight, and also on your activity level and where you live. In general, you should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, that would be 75 to 150 ounces of water a day.

The water in our bodies is essential for life. Without water, we can’t survive. Since the water in our bodies is continually being used or lost, it needs to be continually replaced, and the best fluid to replace it with is water.

I think that it all depends on your weight gain and what lifestyle you lead. If you run a lot or actively train, this is a normal amount of water, I think.
