Sounds great Swannee!
Do you mince it yourself? I was told we couldn't have bought mince. asy

Re: My favourite lunch
I buy the heart smart minces from Woolworths or Safeway, they are very lean and my clinic approved, I eat them at one meal, almost daily and still losing, so I am sure they are fine, as long as they are very lean.

Re: My favourite lunch
Yeah Jo, I am sure there are some that you would not touch in a fit, but if you look at the "heart smart" ones, you can actually see that there is no visible fat in them, especially the turkey mince which is low in fat anyway.

Re: My favourite lunch
At our local butchers I was buying the lean mince and it was yummo, then when I got brave enough I would ask for a large peice of rump (or whatever was cheaper but good quality and little visible fat) steak and ask for it to be trimmed and minced. There was never any problem with that either. I did buy the chicken mince once or twice but it was too fatty, so asked them to mince some trimmed breast fillets too. Again no problem. I really enjoyed the variety mince gave me, I could make burgers out of it or a curry or just like a chow mein with all the veges and some cabbage. If you have a good butcher that you trust, don't be afraid to ask, it is worth it and even if it costs a little more, even 500gms can stretch to a few meals for one cohenite so it can have value there after all.

Re: My favourite lunch
I have been inspired by you both. I am going to try health smart lean mince for 1 week and check weight loss and then the following week mince my own meat and weigh. THis will gauge which is better and then I will stick with that. Good on you both.

Re: My favourite lunch
I have a fantastic butcher and he minces my meat from the most lean steak he has in the shop and it is sensational.... I could not survive on this diet without the minced steak as it lends it self to so much variety.

Re: My favourite lunch
I tried your favourite lunch today Swanee, it was great, thank you for posting it.. I had chicken mince for lunch and beef mince for tea, however I made it more of a hot stir fry for tea.. (both minces were healthy, I had the chicken breasts minced at the chicken shop).. I did delete the chilli though... Melissa I can only have 3 cheese meals a week, so I want to have those days with cheeses that I like, sorry I can't come at cottage cheese.. maybe sometime in the far distant future!!!! |

Hi Jeanie,
You can substitute any cheese you would like be it grated Mozz, Feta or Ricotta. All are great. Melissa

Re: My favourite lunch
Hmmm, that was nice, Swannee, I skipped the mayo in one of them (just having it) and will have another serve for dinner with mayo. Nice recipe.
