Default Old Cohens Program

Hello Guys!

I am after some expertise and advise! I have been on an old cohens program for 2 wks now & ive lost 5.8 kgs so far... I have noticed tho that I am hungry between meals & this is making me struggle.. When i started my old program back in 2008, I was over 15 kgs heavier than i am now (i lost 30
Kgs back then & put them all on due to pregnancy, have managed to lose 15 on my own & now bak to cohens for the last 15) so I am thinking now that I weigh considerably less, I should add 20 grams of protein per meal (as we all know 20 grams doesnt look like alot, however in trying that today my hunger has gone..

If i still follow full cohens guidelines & stick only to foods allowed and decrease my vege portion by 15-20 grams, crackers down to 2 & fruit down to 1, do you think I will still lose the weight quite quickly? Any other suggestions?

Would really appreciate your assistance )

Thank you!!

Hi
I can hear your desparation, but I dont think a reduction to 2 crackers, 1 fruit and less vege is wise, appropriate or best use of a Cohens approach.

I think I understand your point that Programme is from 2008 amd your start weight was more so your Programme was right for your bloods and weight then.

I believe the Programme proportions of Protein, Complex Carbs and Simple Carbs/sugars are all balanced for a reason.

I hope a Forum official can point you in the right direction.

All the best with this loss.

It could be because your body is getting use to the portions again.. I found that somedays I am hungry between meals and somedays Im not. but if you are getting hungry, DONT reduce the amount of food you have, maybe just try to spread it out throughout the day more, and drink plenty of water between meals too, as this can make you feel less hungry..

5.8kgs in two weeks is pretty quickly. If it were weight watchers or anything like that, the recomment you lose 0.5-1kg per week..

Hi ya,
I wouldn't reduce the amount of crackers and fruit your were supposed to have, they are there for a reason. Most people seem to get at least 2 fruit and 3-5 crackers. Plus in my program it says that you must eat everything for the first 10 days - so maybe you should eat your original program exactly for 10 days and drink 3L of water per day and see if that works. 5.9kg is great. What about your multivitamin - did you make sure that the chromium (hunger fighter) is no more than 20mg.
You know it works so stick with it and I'm sure you'll get there again

Hi Safi,

How much do you have to lose?

If it more than say 5 or so kgs, I would say try and stick with the right amount of plan food, but if it is less, you could try early refeed days, which is what you mentioned (a little increase in protein and/or vege).

Play it by ear. I was having trouble sticking to it again, so I allowed myself extra crackers and fruit if I needed it. Basically the opposite to what you were thinking! haha! With some forethought, I probably would have gone your method, but definitely still have my original cracker and fruit allowances.
