Re: Tip on keeping your mind off the fact you are on a diet
Try not to think of it as a diet as such...more so that it is a change of lifestyle. By the end of this journey you will have learned to think of food in a whole different way and by the time you get to maintenance you will hopefully recognise how some foods that you used to eat just don't agree with you any more...you probably won't even want them by then...
It may not seem now that this is the case, but it's quite a journey... Good luck. Bee

Re: Tip on keeping your mind off the fact you are on a diet
Yeah I totally agree with that. You'll never be able to return to your 'old' lifestyle again and stay slim.......they just don't go hand in hand for us........you'll of course have more food than when on your plan, but you generally have to stick to the guidelines they set for you in maintenance........
In the meantime, it's all about distraction.......like I said earlier.........read a book, play the piano (if you do), knit, head out for a gentle walk, go shopping, talk on the phone, play sudoku, solitaire, immerse yourself in the forum.........read lots of diaries, get on ebay, take the kids to the park.........basically anything that makes your mind busy..... If you do plan to read a book, then get yourself a copy of the Beck Diet Solution.........or another one about the 'evils' of sugar called the Sweet Poison......by David Gillespie. Can't think of anything else, but it takes effort, a lot of it to stay distracted in the early days......... You'll get there.........gotta grit your teeth and dig in deep. |
