Smile Newbie with questions & concerns

Hi All

Ok, this is my second try – I have just lost my first message (probably due to time out?) so need to do it again (and it was long, it took me 20 min!). Hopefully, I will remember what I said…what a shame….

I haven’t started the program yet, still investigating. After all, $750+for “eating less” is a significant investment…..and based on my past experience and my current age….well, I have a lot of doubt.

Lorraine from the Canberra clinic gave me this link (thanks Lorraine!) to get more info. I would appreciate if people here who have completed or are on the program could answer my questions. In particular, ladies in a situation similar to mine, which is:

50 yo, 171cm tall, current weight 89kg (gained 9 kg in the past few months!!), goal weight 65kg. So need to drop 24kg....

Here are my questions:
  • Is your program being adjusted after each blood test? And if not, what is the purpose of those tests and how do they contribute to your weight loss?
2. how do you cope with hunger?
  • what is your typical daily diet?
  • what do you do with all that extra skin left after melting 15-25 kg of fat? Do you need to have plastic surgery to remove it?
  • I am fishy-vegetarian. Don’t eat meat, chicken or seafood except fish. Also I’m allergic to dairy which I substitute with soy products. Can eat soft cheeses in small amounts and love eggs. Any thoughts on how I will be able to adapt the program? I have just started taking pure soy protein powder in soy milk (which gives me a whopping 36 g of protein per serve). Will I be able to include it in my program?
  • does the program work mainly due to the dietary restrictions (calories, portions, types of food etc), or mainly due to the rebalancing of hormones?
  • do you have any evidence of your hormones being rebalanced? Do you get copies of your blood tests?
  • can you go back to eating normally (within reason) after the program, without regaining all that weight?
  • does the program rebalance your hormones for life, or do you redo it every couple of years or so?
  • anything else you’d like to share with me.
Many thanks and regards
CD

I'm not a woman, I'm 10 years older than you are and I just lost 25kg. I am on my 2nd week of refeed.

My first question (instead of an answer) would be "have you taken the time to read good bits of this forum?" Most of your questions have been asked and answered umpteem times already and all that needs to be done is use the search function.

Frankly, as far as the cost is concerned, I found that the cost is cheaper than almost all other programs out there (and they don't work). You don't buy any pills, supplements, shakes, or specially prepackaged meals. Your fresh unprocessed, straight off the fresh foods counters of your supermarkets are your entire prescription to a new you and a better life. And unlike the majority of programs out there, this one works and works fantastically!

"can you go back to eating normally (within reason) after the program, without regaining all that weight?"

"Within Reason" Yes. But if you go back to eating what you consider normal (that made you fat in the first place?) NO, you will just repeat the process that got you to the point where you needed this Weight Loss Program and Lifestyle change. This teaches you how to eat properly so you don't have to repeat history "unless you want to"! No program can stop you from shoving food into your gob if you want to do it. Go back to the same habits, the same results are guaranteed. This program will let you lose weight fast, and balance your hormones AND teach you how to EAT PROPERLY! If you don't follow it, then who's at fault?

The blood test are to monitor your liver & kidney functions and is used, along with the initial blood tests to create your refeed diet, which is the most important part of the whole process.

The rest of your questions are answered within the forums here many times over.

For the more female questions I'll let someone else take over!

The (New) Old Stallion

I'm the oldest person on the forum, CD. It's very late and I'm too tired to answer all your questions right now. However, I think the programme is fantastic. I've lost 24 kgs in 5 months, feel great, my doctor's blood tests confirm it.

You won't be able to have your soy products, although tofu is allowed. What you are allowed to eat is very strict, no variations. I do think that you can find combinations that will work for you, although it might be a bit more boring with fewer choices.

Do as SMS says, and look round the forum, you'll find the answers to most of your questions. I might get back here and finish tomorrow.

Back again to do it all over again, starting from exactly the same weight as last time.
My health is not good and my doctor is predicting all sorts of nasty things if I don't lose weight.

Back again for the support. Still think the diet and the forum are the best ever, but too old to do it again. Now losing again slowly on maintenance diet. Ticker shows next intermediate goal only (5 kilos).

Hey CD..

Well as you know I've lost 90 kilos.. what happens to our skin.. the majority of us are lucky enough to not have any issues.. the Human Growth Hormone does a wonderful job in getting the skin elasticity in good working order..

$750.00 buys your program, re-feed & maintenance guidelines as well as all the support you need plus consultations.. for the 6 month period of your contract that works out be be just under $30.00 per week... Plus if you stick to this 100% then to me it's worth every cent .. I spent more than that on junk food every week prior to doing the program.. not to mention the many health benefits & less visits to my doctor..

The blood tests dont contribute to your weight loss but the help the good Doctor write up your re-feed program & also keeps an eye on things like how your liver & kidney functions are going (someone correct me if I'm wrong here )..

Sticking to plan 100% means there is no hunger.. the first week there will probably be some until the Human Growth Hormone kicks in (around day 3 or 4).. for me I had the odd day of hunger here & there during the 12 months it took for me to get to goal weight.. VERY manageable as I wasn't STARVING.. until I got to goal weight & my body told me that it was time to finish..

Most mornings I'd have natural yoghurt.. when I first started it was usually an egg & veggies.. lunch tuna & veggies or chicken & veggies.. dinner tuna, chicken or beef & veggies.. a couple of pieces of fruit over the day & crisp breads here & there.. loads of water..

You wont be able to have soy milk.. but fish & eggs are fine,, cottage cheese, ricotta, feta & mozzarella cheese is all OK as is tofu.

Balancing of the Human Growth Hormone, serotonin & insulin will occur when sticking to the plan 100%.. this means that your body will burn fat with optimum results & help keep the hunger at bay while on plan.. the calorie in take is also fairly low which all attribute to the rapid fat loss..

Yes you do get copies of your blood results..

AS SMS said.. if we were to go back to old eating habits that got us overweight in the first place, then no we dont.. but we do get taught how to keep it off with very reasonable guidelines.. we learn to eat healthily but also how to deal with those times we do eat something that is outside the norm.

So long as you continue to eat a healthy diet I can't see why our hormones wont stay balanced within reason.. obviously things will change throughout our life time such as menopause.. but things like insulin for example change when we dont eat right & dont exercise etc.. so we need to always be fairly sensible..

I hope this has helped.. & if anyone cares to correct anything I might have wrong, please do so (Asy )

PS this time out thing is annoying...

Faithy, the timeout can be corrected by lowering cookie protection. In your browser, go to the Tools menu, then Options, then the Privacy tab then lower the protection you have set for Cookies. Next time you log on, be sure to tick the Remember me box. Poor Baloo has explained it in his thread on the new software, and is starting to tear his hair out because no one is reading it. :rothlmao:

Thanks Faithy

I've got all the info now. Over the next week or so I'm going to test whether I can reintroduce dairy to my diet. So far I have been deriving my protein from eggs, fish and soy products ONLY. I am allergic to dairy (have been all my life), so if I can't tolerate cheese and yogurt without some very unpleasant side effects and can't substitute them with soy - this diet is not for me.

I will also test - now that I have an idea of the menu - whether I can live on it in generally speaking.

The good thing is that, as I have researched the nutritional value of foods, I realised how much I have been overeating....This is one of those things that we "know" but never quite "realise". Our bodies need much less callories, fats and carbs than most people eat, especially as we are getting older. I have always had a pretty good idea of what's in particular foods, however it is only when you put them together as your daily menu you get shocked - have I really been eating so much???? No wonder......

By investigating this diet through my own research, I have also learned about the role of the HGH (I knew about insulin). I wonder why this is not being promoted more widely to the public given the critical role the HGH plays in weight control...

Anyway, back to my test.....I'll keep you posted......

regards
CD

No reason why you can't do this diet using only eggs, fish and tofu, CD. There are no foods that we have to have, just a very long list that we can't eat. I think that vegetarians get a slightly different programme to most of us, so yours also would probably be a bit different, just a matter of letting your consultant know what your food restrictions are so Dr Cohen can take them into account.

Hello everyone,

I have been researching 'Cohen's vs Sureslim'...I was almost swayed to Sureslim as they offer payment plan and they seemed to be fairly similar in what you can eat etc but after reading this forum I think I will just bite the bullet and go for Cohen's regardless of the huge initial outlay. Has anyone tried both? Is there much difference??

Thank you for your help

Diana

Hi Diana,
You can pay off the program, but I think it costs a bit extra.
I hope you decide to join.
