Default Dark Circles under eyes?

Just curious, has anyone else experienced dark circles under their eyes that they never had before in the beginning of the program?? I feel fine other than the headaches but I don't look so great!

Yes - whilst wrestling with a drunk on Easter Saturday night at the rodeo ball I ended up that way and he got arrested and locked up ......... but besides that time its usually a fair indicator that you are over doing it. So slow down and get some rest - have a day off from your normal busy life and get a good sleep - start early and finish very early.

unHi Jenna,

Can't say I have had the problem of dark circles under the eyes and unlike Andy I am not playing with big bad men .

In chinese medicine it can be a sign that liver and kidneys are understress. My understanding is that this programme can put a lot of strain on detoxing organs such as liver, kidneys and gall bladder. I really like alternative medicine for it's support of organs and energy without having to get to the place of dis-ease that western medicine treats. Therefore I have had energetic healing, acupuncture, lymphatic drainage massage and have had a naturopath support me with homeopathics as a support for my body whilst on the programme.

Only a month or so ago I had a huge journey around nausea for about a month. Tried many things - one session of acupuncture and no more nausea. Am still having acupuncture once a week for a few more weeks as she assists my body to come into balance. Interestingly in chinese medicine the procedure and treatment for underweight and overweight is the same - bring the body into balance. My acupuncturist found I had a "cold spleen" and recommended hot drinks and food and also used various points on my body and I have felt so well since.

The other thing that really helps our bodies as we detox is to drink lots of water and you may find increasing your water will help. Mine had to be 4.5 litres for awhile - on Dr Cohens orders. Have now deceased it a bit as I have lost weight.

Good luck with your journey. For me signs like the dark circles under eyes are my body saying "I am under stress and i need support." For me - I would not ignore it as it is a signpost that could save heartache later.

Blessings
Shanara

Andy - HAHA I wasn't referring to BLACK eyes But thanks for the advice. I haven't been going to hard, but I since I am in my first week, I may just try and take it a bit easier as we have been running around doing errands and I have a 9 month old to look after so that doesn't help the relaxing part!

Shanara - Thank you for sharing your experiences! I will keep accupuncture and massage in mind if need be, and I will definitely increase my water intake. I am currently drinking 3 litres but will up it to 4 and see if that helps, along with getting some extra rest.

Detox is the most horrid part.. get through this stage & you'll be smiling big time right through till the end.. keep on drinking heaps of water, take all your vitamins & make sure you get as much extra rest as possible until you start feeling more human.. some people get there quite quickly.. some take a little longer.. it took me about 2 to 3 weeks until I started feeling normal.. after that I felt just amazing..

Keep it up

Hi Faithy,

Thank you for the encouragement, I was just slightly concerned with the 'haunted' look I've been sporting the last couple of days.

Good to know that it took you 2-3 weeks to feel better, then I won't worry if it does take that long. I had a big binge the week before I went on Cohen's just saying goodbye to all my fave foods, so I am fairly certain it has something to do with that.

I managed to choke down 4 litres today, so we will see how I feel tomorrow. Today was day 5, felt sluggish and tired which I was expecting to for at least a week.

I am looking forward to feeling amazing.

Good stuff.. be a little careful though that you dont over do the water.. a different topic all together, but we can drink too much .. 3 litres should be plenty really

Anyway I hope you feel better soon

Interesting. I have had a problem with dark circles under my eyes for years and I've found that 3 weeks into the programme they have actually lightened considerably.

Hope your detox symptoms go away soon!

I have a lot of friends who a few years back went all nuts over going to naturopaths.. they said back then that dark circles under the eyes were usually from allergies found in wheat, sugar & milk.. interesting really.. I had dark circles too which did clear up on cohen's.. so many foods dont agree with our bodies & I just love that cohen's gets us in tune with that.. it really is an awesome lifestyle change.

Had my first meeting with the clinic since starting Cohen's this morning - I brought up the dark circles under my eyes in the first few days and my consultant said that this is perfectly normal from detoxing and it is also a common issue brought up by people in their first week, so this made me feel better!

They have started to back off now anyway, now that I am into day 7.

Hey Jenna, I too have dark circles under my eyes. I am being told that I look "shocking", "sick", "tired" and a whole host of other things.

I do feel a little tired and must admit that when I look in the mirror I get a fright too

I would love to know what to do to get rid of them. I look like I have been punched.

Hi Jenna,

I have slight dark circles as well. I think its getting lighter now. For me, I think it could also have been due to lack of enough sleep - ie. 7-8hrs per night. I was only getting 6hrs for a couple of weeks.

I have an appointment with the clinic tonight so I will ask about them. Ran out at lunch today and bought some cream and a new concealer in attempt to hide them!!

Hi Shellbelle, Anu & TP,

My dark circles completely disappeared around the 10-12 day mark. I am sure that everyone is different though. My clinic said it was all part of the detox process and that they have heard that problem from many clients!

Hope yours clear up!
