Hervey Bay/ Maryborough And Surrounds Gathering

I live in Hervey Bay, and was wondering if anyone doing Cohens would like to form a friendship/ support group. My daughter and I are doing the program and are going well and was wondering because we live so far from Brisbane it would be encouraging to have some support in this area of the world (face to face). If anyone is interested, I am happy to hold the gathering at my home possibly weekends or evenings depending on what was most popular for most. You may leave a message through the forum system if you are interested. It would be great to meet others doing this program and to swap ideas and concerns. It will be very casual and no commitment to attend future gatherings if you don't like it- but give it a go guys we may just have fun!!!

Hi HBS,

I took the liberty of moving your thread into the "Get Togethers" forum (look way down in the list of forums, under Diaries). This is the BEST place to be, as everyone else looks here to see who they can meet up with.

If I remember correctly, Hervey Bay is around 4 hours North of Brisbane - so, is Gladstone "reasonably close"? Not sure, but certainly closer than Brisbane. I know there are a couple of people there (names escape me for now). And a number on hte Sunshine Coast too...

Good luck with "catching up" with others. Maybe start a diary, and tell us a bit about yourself, and how you and your daughter are going ?

Hi Katrina,

That will be great to catch up with you at Christmas time, just let me know closer to the date and we will sort out a date. As you can see I am still trying to get some people together together in this area, so if I am succussful by Christmas time, we may be able to have a bit of gathering when you are up this way. My 15 year old daughter is on the program with me, so it is great to have each others support doing the program. To date I have lost 19kg and she has lost 14kg, we are so proud and looking forward to freedom in the fashion stores and obviously good health and long life!

As I mentioned in my diary today, I was talking to a lady yesterday who also lives in Hervey Bay and is on the Cohens program. She is very interesed in having a get together with other Cohens people to gain support from each other and have fun and meet others. Hi everyone, I have organised for a few ladies to gather at 'The Pines' park on the beach at the end of Beach Road this coming Saturday 6th December at 2.30pm. If anyone would like to come along you can either message me through the forum system or just turn up. It will be very casual and BYO Cohens food and drinks. The four ladies that have promised to come are all looking forward to it and meeting others for support in this area of Queensland. All Hervey Bay, Maryborough and surrounds are invited as well as anyone else who may be in the area on Saturday.

If you are planning to come on down to The Pines on Saturday, you can find us at one of the picnic tables and I will take a purple tablecloth. So look out for the Cohens people at the table with the purple tablecloth. Besides, we will be the slim gorgeous ones in the park!!! lol!!!

Today we had our first get together in Hervey Bay. We had four of us Cohenites in attendance, and had the best time. We were all strangers to each other at the start, but all got on really well and talked for 2 hours. We have decided to have regular meetings monthly, so if anyone else would like to join our lovely little group we would be very happy to have you along. We are all just normal, regular people who seek support from each other whilst on this program. It was great to swap receipes, and just generally talk about our trials and triumphs in our journey to slimness!!!

Thanks Kaye for your interest in our get togethers you and anyone else reading this are most welcome to join us for our get togethers. We will be having regular monthly get togethers this year, so I will keep you all posted and hopefuly our group will get a little bigger in numbers and smaller is weight!!!! This months get together is on Satruday 7th February at 2pm at The Pines Park at the end of Beach Road, Pialba (right on the foreshore) we managed to get a table in the shade last time so hopefully we will be lucky again. You may just turn up if you like, I plan on taking a purple tablecloth, so look out for all the skinny minnies sitting at a table with a purple tablecloth!!!!

We had a lovely time down at the beach at the picnic tables today. We had 4 Cohenites attend the afternoon, and had a really good chat, and discussed all the Cohens friendly tricks we have developed. Our next meeting is scheduled for the 1st Saturday in March 2009, so I will keep you posted as to what time and venue we will be at for our next get together.

Hi Everyone, it is time once again for our monthly get together!! This month we will meet on Sunday 8th March at 11am at The Pines park at the end of Beach Road Pialba under one of the shelters or at a table. I will have the purple tablecloth on the table again. Bring a packed lunch and we will have lunch in the park. Families welcome too! See you all there, PM me if you like to let me know if you are coming or just turn up!
