Nope, we all know Innira well! Although I've only been to the clinic 4 times in all I think. The presentation, picking up my program, picking up refeed and once after I finished. Although I've heard the group meetings are good if you need the support I never needed them.
So any questions you may have feel free to post 'em up here and stay away from the rice & noodles and this will be a skate in the park for you. What ever you do, try not to upset your social life too much. Instead, find ways to work around it and still have a social life. Don't worry too much about your friends, if they are real friends they will help you instead of trying to sway you into deviating. Really, the only difference between most slim people and us is that the slim ones learned early on how to say no. We didn't and that's what got us here. Once you get totally past the detox you should be right. You are already finding out that we have lots of options when eating. I always carried around a tin of Narcissus Mushrooms (small tin) and a tin of NTUC brand Chunk Tuna in Brine. In an emergency (like being stuck on Orchard Road window shopping on Saturday afternoon) A cucumber, a pack of salad fixin's (you know the one you can find at ntuc already with a couple varieties of lettuce in the plastic package or bag) and you are set. I never had a problem. I went to 3 local wedding, 5 full blown chinese dinners, and several other occasions and brought my own food. Wasn't a problem at all. Feel free to give me a yell anytime. SMS,

If I know I will be going out an entire day, I'd wake up early in the morning to prepare all 3 meals. I find it easier to bake patties (especially tuna patties) - they don't get soggy / turn nasty easily. Cucumbers are usually fantastic for "take-outs"
My tuna brand's either tuna chunks in brine (NTUC brand) or tuna chunks in mineral water (Ayam brand). Am having a hard time trying to find sprite zero and lite mayonnaise. if you could kindly shed some light it'd be cool! |

Never used Sprite Zero. Not sure if you are planning on using it for drinking or cooking. I like to cook/stirfry with a fifty-fifty mixture of water and Balsamic Vinegar. Matter of fact I like my salads with Balsamic vinegar and lite Mayo. Normally you can find 94% fat free Kraft Mayo at NTUC and/or Cold Storage. I think it's Kraft or the other major brand and it has a red 94% Fat free on the label.

Day 9...Another disappointing day
Well, into my 9th un-deviated Cohen day. *Sniff* stupid weighing machine has simply stopped responding or something is just wrong with what I've been doing lately? Shouldn't I at least have dropped another 500-1kg after last Thursday? That's so sad to see my weight remaining stagnant...thank god it hasn't gone up though but if this continues, I don't know how long more I can sustain on the programme!
Anyway, today has been good...think God heard my prayers. I didn't feel much hunger and I didn't even have to eat my fruits / crispbreads at all. So, I'm saving them for dinner in a while after typing this. I've drunk so much water that I've hit past the 3L mark already. I'm so sure that I'm already hitting 4L today. The small Nalgene bottle helps me to keep track of my water intake very well. The fact that it is small, it is less daunting to drink from it as well. I can almost finish 1 bottle in about 3 gulps...cool! |

Hi FlaMie,
Most programmes say "Weigh only once a month" - is that so for yours too? Maybe this is so that people dont STRESS about "not losing weight" every single day - 'cos, it isn't going to happen !!! Stress is well-known to stop weight-loss stone-dead !! So, the BEST you can do is to just live your life, happy, unconcerned, Deviation-free, and excited that you ARE going to succeed with this. No more, and no less. Your body will lose what it feels right to lose - so, just let it do things the best way it can, while YOU do the best you can by staying true to the Cohen program. Just live, FlaMie - and enjoy the gains (well, losses really) as you walk your path to a whole new person. Koh

Just a big happy hushpuppy I haven't "done" Cohens - Asy knows me from way back - she invited me to "take a look" here - I did, loved it, and stayed... And me? I'm a tall skinny-ish bloke (BMI ~25.5) and have been this way forever, so I haven't faced (weight-wise) what you all have !! |

Hi Flamie,
I blend it together with some veges e.g. onion, chilli padi, few shreds of capsicum, and 2 crispbreads. Then i knead them into little patties and bake them. |

Wow! Sounds "chim" ... can I eat it just as it is with lettuce or something? |

I have Tuna Salad either 2 or 3 times a week. Make my salad and take it to work in one of those BioKips containers that you buy in NTUC. Usually only consists of my allowance of Tuna (be sure to drain the Tuna well (get more that way). I actually open the tin then press the lid down while draining to remove even more of the liquid! In addition I include lettuce, cucumber, Tomato, Capsicum, Fresh White Button mushrooms (or tinned narcissus ones when I run out of fresh) and if I have fruit allowance I'll dice up some fruit as well (all to allowance). Add some Pepper, dried ground garlic & ginger, my allowance of 94% fat free mayo & a bit of Balsamic Vinegar and I'm set to go. (actually, if I'm planning to go somewhere where I might be stuck for a meal due to the timing I make up a salad to weight and just take it with me. Always works for me. I've been off the diet now since mid-June and I still bring my salad to lunch (I work in an industrial estate so it's not really easy to find anything really healthy in the tuck shops here (actually a lot of them here are very good, just not very healthy!)
You have to wait until refeed to have tuna melt but tuna patties are good as well and so are portabello mushrooms stuffed with tuna or minced chicken and topped off with a slice of tomato (I used to cook them in a little toaster oven). Tuna is just like Ma Ling or Corned Beef (you can't have either of those at the moment though) you can eat it straight out of the can or heated up). I understand the reason you ask the question though as my wife is local as well so has some of those same ideas. She always freaks when I steal her "raw" hotdogs and eating them while she preparing food (they are already cooked in the package). sms

A nice Singaporean Cohenite Gathering
Hhmmm, wouldn't it be a great idea if we can just have a Singaporean Cohenite gathering once in a while to catch up and know 'new' people - pun intended.
So nice to read all those Australians getting together to swap clothes and all...can we also have something like this here! |
