Default Egg Size

Good morning all,

A quick question to all - what size is an egg - where I live I get all different size eggs from my neighbours and was wondering as everything is weighed what is the weight of the egg in the Cohen Programme.
There are all sizes.
I just weighed mine and its 42 grams and it doesn't make much to cover the vegies with to hold it together - I'm not a cook but either!

Thanks Jo,

I also emailed my consultant and she replied later and I Quote -

"Eggs – any size from Bantam to large chook eggs is okay and if you are lucky enough to crack open a double-yoker it is also okay you may not have duck eggs."

So I'm pleased with that reply and whilst duck eggs are out she didn’t say emu eggs are out - and when I was a boy and my Mum cooked with them it was one emu egg was the same as 12 hen eggs I think from memory. But better just stick to the hen eggs in this day and age.

Hi Andy,

Good luck in finding emu eggs at the local supermarket and if you can I would like to see who could eat an entire one. I know I couldn't but would probably make and exceptional sponge.

We don't have super markets out my way only "The Shop" - but we have plenty of emu eggs - but they are hatching now that it is spring - and they are protected fauna now so you are not allowed to collect and use them any more - but they do make good cakes and things - all the oldies in my town talk about using them years before the shop even sold eggs.

Hi there

My consultant told me I could have the biggest egg which I have found to be 80gm. Those few extra grams make a big difference!!!

Good luck

I have found the 80 but have stuck to the 70 - just to be a goodie goodie - actually my mate is o/s at the moment and I have been feeding his four chooks and they give me four eggs a day and I weighed them to see and they are all at about 60 - so that would be the normal size I think.
love that egg and asparagus with a bit of balsamic vinegar - gets me going - off to work !!!!

have a good weekend and hope your crack at this round gets rid of the Humpty Dumpty look or feel of weight for you - works for me.

I've found that if I have the smaller egg (50g) it doesn't get me through the morning...

59g egg does... but I didn't know I could have a bigger egg....

hmmmm.....interesting..
