Default What music sends thrills down your spine?

For me, there are many.... Having played in bands in my younger days, there would be times when the music produced would have the hairs on the back of neck standing at attention.

One that did that (in the Brass Band) was the Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet. If I can find a good version I'll post it later.

Later:- Forget the London Philharmonic (posted earlier, now deleted) - THIS version is what really does it for me :-

Well done Savaria Symphony Orchestra - your rendition gave me the thrills that I had come to expect from this glorious piece !!

It starts with the Romeo/Juliet theme, then at the 3:30 mark, you can almost imagine the warring Montagues v Capulets, until it all quietens back down at the 6:00 mark, and back into that wonderful theme until the finish. (There is a part 1 and a Part 3 if this captured your interest - should be visible on the right while on Youtube - but Part 2 is MINE !! )

Nothing like a REALLY GOOD Classical piece of music to get the blood running and the spine tingling !!

And then, for a bit of pure sweetness, there's this one (Cavatina by the Shadows) - aka theme from The Deerhunter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZHfOtuTjm0&feature=related

Many of the Shadows tunes would put a smile on my face - now, so many years later, they are doing it again, thanks to Youtube....

And you? Which songs do it for you?

That Cavatina is hauntingly beautiful music

For me... hmmm... i would have to say:

Gives me goosebumps - Nessun Dorna sung by Pavarotti... I have heard so many renditions of this song but none affect me like Pavarotti hitting those notes

Although I love the guys voice so can listen to any of his songs!

Smile to the face would have to be one of the silliest songs I know and that is Neil Diamond singing Porcupine Pie... one of the most pointless silliest songs but I know it off by heart lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUKDip3R6JQ

although watching Adams singing with the great Pavarotti also brings a smile to my face

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5a0juQ0aeGI

This one makes me cry everytime i hear it or watch it... first time I was sitting at my desk at work and somone sent it to me and I bawled like a baby

I could go on but i wont

Lighter or darker side of excercise and self image?? I love it. And good to hear an old casio being put to good use!

Other things giving me the kick at the moment are bands like the Vandals, Angry Samoans and Sloppy Seconds...wouldn't wish them on anyone without prior warning though..!!
