Cold & Flu Medication, Sugar Free Strepsils etc
Have come down with a lovely chesty cold, sore throat etc and wondering if sugar free strepsils and the like are okay to use whilst on Cohen's?? Sugar Free Strepsils have got Isomalt/Maltitol in them and our Cohen's prescriptions say no sugar free lollies etc but I think this is same ingredient that is in the S/F Strepsils... Anyone had any experience with cold & flu while on Cohen's and what you did to help alleviate symptoms that fits in with the guidelines??! Thanks! Suz |

Re: Cold & Flu Medication, Sugar Free Strepsils etc
Hi suz......i ran this by my clinic on my first time round, and they specifically told me that isomalt was not permitted on the program.........however it is well advertised that cohen's promotes health first, Cohen's second.
My assumption is that sugar free would do less damage than the sugared ones, but never the less, it is still technically a deviation........ If you are sick enough to need them then you might decide to use them if they help. Bear in mind that the sweetening agents they use can also have a laxative effect and for me I find this effect is increase because of the very small quantities of food we eat.......there is not other food to help absorb the 'loosening' and gassy effects of this chemical. Hope you stay well and recover quickly |
