Default Freezing fruit?

Hi everyone

Just wondering whether it's ok to freeze fruit?
My program says fresh fruit not frozen but is this because of the weighing?

I could weigh it fresh into little bags & freeze so it's the right amount.

Mangoes are only $2 at the moment!!!

Thanks

I think they mean buying it frozen. They often add sweeteners. Weighing then freezing your own should be fine, I reckon.

I have read a few people freeze mangoes. I was considering it this time, but then they started making me sick

I love mangoes and will miss them terribly. I have fallen for honey dew though. Hot damn, it's delicious!

Yep, I freeze mangoes when they are a good price. Just make sure you weigh them before you freeze. Countdown have them at the moment for $1.69 I think. I bought four yesterday but unfortunately only one of them was edible. (The other three were rotten inside).

Thanks for telling me Mangos are cheap again. Hope they are the Aussie ones. I usually shop NW so must check out Countdown. I also bulk buy and weight and freeze them. Do the same with kiwi fruit and also stew my apples and freeze. Apples only need to be chopped and microwaved for 2 minutes, just enough to lightly cook. Nice to have when you feel like something sweet.

You have the perfect idea! I have about 20 little bags in the freezer as we speak - they are my little bag of sunshine for the dark winter months. My 4 pm treat - black coffee, crackers and MANGO!!

I also have some peaches and nectarines which I cut in half and blanch - again summer sunshine for the dark months ahead.

Just call me squirrel,
Shanara

Thanks everyone, unfortunately both of the mangoes I got were rotten inside too
They say product of Peru & the only kiwifruit in Countdown at the mo say US?

So Shanara, you can freeze nectarines but they need blanching?
My all time fav fruit
I'd love them through the winter

Yep, mangoes from Peru. No wonder they are rotten. You can take them back if you can be bothered!
