My NYF Diary
Default New members - welcome !!

Hi all,

It is great to see new people joining up from all over the place. And a big newyou welcome to all of you.

Since I've noticed some are a little unsure of just "what to do", I thought it would be useful to make a few suggestions.

Before starting a Diary:
A change made in Oct 2012 has now dis-allowed starting a Diary until you have filled in a Diary Request Form. So, please do that FIRST now, by clicking on the following Link :-

http://newyouforum.com/forum/misc.php?do=form&fid=8

Once you have completed that, you will be able to start a thread (your Diary) in the New Diaries forum. Note that only those doing Cohens may start a Diary - we are a Cohens support group, when all is said and done.

If you are planning to "do" Cohens, and have entered your Diary Request Form, start out by going to the "New Diaries" forum. There, you will be able to start a thread with "Fred's Diary" or "Samantha's Diary" as the title of the topic.

This will then be your place to tell us all about yourself, your goals, your problems, your day-to-day, your weightloss, ask questions, etc. Check out a few "diary" posts and you'll get the idea.

And HOW do you actually start a Diary?

Go to the "New Diaries" forum, then look near the top left side of the screen you will see a button called "New Thread" - click on that... then type what you want to, and, when finished, click "Submit reply" to finish.

While in "New Diaries", DO go to the "Stickies" (these are important threads that are "stuck" at the top of each page. In there, it tells you the "Rules" for having a Diary on here - a "Diary Request" is now mandatory, and must be done before starting a Diary. The stickies also provide many tips - so it is useful to read them before starting your Diary,

If you have questions about anything, go to Cohens Programme Discussion section, and tap into the "Discussion on Cohen's Lifestyle Programme" forum. Food is one of the more common discussion points. Have a read through there - many problems with food are common, and answers have already been provided somewhere in this forum. But, if YOUR question ISN'T there, then start a "new topic" there to ask the question ...

Try checking out the "New You Forum Support Boards" group of forums too. A well-used forum in that section is to do with "Recipes".

As you get more familiar, do check out all of the other forums - "Tips, Tricks" is very popular. Many of the "Tips" can help to encourage you on your path - they've been presented by others who have already walked the same path. Or, YOU can add to them, where you have discovered something that has really helped you.

The photos section has now changed and photos belong in your "albums" - see Photo Albums for help re doing that - the link is from FAQ (which has a wealth of other answers to questions too)

The "Chat" forum (way down the bottom) is for all of the day-to-day stuff that has nothing to do with Cohens, but you wanted to tell us anyway (of course, you can do this in your Diary too...)

For anyone starting out in anything new, we all start out "not knowing enough to even know how to ask a decent question". It is common to every facet of life. Don't feel bad about it. Just give it a go anyway. SOMEONE here will understand what you are endeavouring to ask, and will guide you.

And, for those who are unfamiliar with the Internet, PLEASE don't make posts with all capital letters. On the Internet, capital letters are used (apart from the usual start of sentence, first letter of a name, etc.) ONLY for emphasis - e.g. "WOW!! Look at YOU? You've done so well!!" If you type ALL of your post in Capitals, it is deemed to be SHOUTING (and it really is much harder to read - so please don't do it)

It's good to have you here,

Koh

I'd like to add my personal welcome to those joining the forum.

We all look forward to getting to know you over the course of your Cohens Journey, and hopefully beyond!

Please take the time to read through the New Members board, there's a lot of good information here and it may save you repeating questions which have already been asked.

Wander around, start a diary, answer other people's diaries, generally get involved and you'll love it here too!

Holy someone beat me too it. Was thinking about a space or thread like this a day or so ago. Thought I need to just come on here and just say Welcome to all the newbies as it is just too hard to keep up with all the newbies coming on here great guns steady everyday.

With out people starting a diary it is hard to keep up with them.

So that said WELCOME to all of you, good luck on starting your journey to a new you. This will truely be the last diet you will ever need to do. Followed right you will lose your weight faster than any other diet. No diet is easy but this has to be the easiest with quick results, no exercise needed. Once into the eating pattern it just becomes second nature. Not saying you won't have times when you so want to deviate you willl. But when you start feeling good, looking good then getting the compliments from all your friends it keeps you motivated to continue.

HI Leslie!

REally nice to meet you

Congratulations on starting your on journey.

Here's how you start your own diary: Edited later by Kohinoor - this (following) is how we USED to do it !!! Now, we have New Members start their Diaries in the "New Diaries" section.
1. Go to the main screen, where it lists all the different rooms.
2. Click on personal diaries
3. This will bring up everyones diaries
4. Near the top left side of the screen you will see a button called "New Thread" - click on that...
5. Put your title in (like "Fred's Diary"), say what you want in the large white area, then "Submit". This creates your Diary.

6. Once your diary thread is in place (as above), any further updates are done by :-
a. Finding your diary (it could be on page 2 or 3 or more...)
b. Clicking on your Diary thread title, then ...
c. (again, Top left) look for "Post Reply" button - click on that.
d. Say what you want, then "Submit" ....

Edited: Adjusted above content to relate to VB software (after 20 May 08 )
----- Kohinoor -----

I look forward to reading your diary!

Debs

Hi all

Just joined and have just signed up to start programme next week. A forum helped when I gave up smoking over three years ago so I thought I would get the support and motivation this time too!

Look forward to meeting you all

Welcome Lj,

I'm sure this forum will now help with your weight loss. Congratulations for starting and I look forward to reading about your journey. First up go to the diary thread and start one up for yourself then if there is anything you want to know just leave a message and I'm sure you will get lots of response. The support here is awsome and trust it will help you through your trials and tribulations.

Hopefully you have or will find all the helpful hints and tips for new Cohenites in the new member thread so if you haven't gone exploring the forum and found this then my suggestion would be to start there. It will help answer lots questions you may already have.

Melissa

Hi there,

I'm a gal living in NZ but originaly from Singapore. Was in Singapore in Dec and heard about the Cohen's diet and signed up for it, received & started the program 2 1/2 weeks ago and I'm still getting used to it to be honest.

Have been a few deviations, not intentional though, for instance eating more onions than allowed or eating carrots the first day, still learning I guess. Been lurking around this forum since I've started and it's been really informative! Thank you heaps honestly.

Need to loose 22kg and have lost 4.5 so far. I have soo many questions lol, but i'll keep reading and hopefully keep learning but I do have 1 question i was hoping to get an answer to, is fresh Lime allowed? instead of a Lemon?

By the way, Happy V Day!

Hi Kaur,

Always best if in doubt don't. If it's not on your program then don't substitute.

Its so much easier, that way you can't get into trouble.

Good luck with your journey and your 22kg will soon be a weigh off your mind.

Melissa

Thanks, it's great to see such a network of fellow Coheners out there.
Started the program yesterday, so far so good, am feeling very thirsty though
and a little woozy and light headed at times. Have a crispbread or two or fruit and
it goes away.
Shall stay in touch.

Thanks heaps Deb's and Melissa... Am loving the programme and the changes I'm seeing.... Being my 4th week I'm starting to see very noticable changes in the fittings of my clothes and I'm slowly starting to be able to fit into some tighter garmets, so its very motivating.

Tango I get light headed too at times, but I usually try to have a fruit or cracker and it usually helps.

I'm still feeling hungry though at times but I know I'm not deviating or at least note on purpose... hoping that will settle soon... Going for my 1st month blood test on Friday!

Debs, any plans to come to NZ in the near future?

Which part of aussie are you in? Hubby and myself are planning on moving to Melb in 2 years (hubby's originally from Melb)....
